Opinion:
The disease known as Cancer should have it's named changed to something else. Cancer was the name of the astrological sign of the Giant Crab way before it was the name of this disease and apparently that was even part of why the disease has the same name is because doctors thought the first tumors they discovered looked like crabs.
But the disease Cancer is one that can lead to very hard situations for not only those who develop a tumor, but for the friends and family of those people as well. This might just be me, but I feel like this could not only bother those with the astrological sign of Cancer and potentially even lead to offensive statements along the lines of the R word or using the term "Being a Karen" too casually.
I myself don't put a lot of stock into astrology and my sign isn't that of the Giant Crab anyway, but I can't help but feel like the disease should have it's name changed for these reasons.
That shouldn't happen anywhere near as badly as an effective cure for the disease being discovered mind you, but still.
