In the recent unfortunate news of the 3DS/Wii U eShop, I implore y'all to pick up Rhythm Heaven Megamix while you can, given it was a digital only release here.
It' s a good starting point for the series given it has a lot of the essential mini games under one package.
It's also honestly a really good deal for it's $30 price, given how much other games in the series go for

Ramen's Ultimate Character Retrospective
Day 5: Fighter Pass 2
Welcome to the next part of this little series I did to pass the time til the final Ultimate characer was announced. Every other day or so, I looked at a set of characters added in Ultimate and gave my overall thoughts on em.
Today we'll be looking at my current thoughts on Fighters Pass 2. Continuing the trend of pass 1, Pass 2, strived to add as some whacky and wild characters, whilest also seemingly tying some lose ends the game had up to that point. Was it a satisfactory conclusion?
10/10 One of my most wanted characters period. Did not disappoint. Currently my reigning main.
10/10 Probably my single most wanted third party. Can't quite get into his moveset as much as I wished, but man, I'm still suuuuuuuuper happy he's here
7/10 wasn't quite an ideal choice for me, but pretty fun to play. The additional FF content he came with was also very much appreciated
/ 9.5/10 Fun and flashy. Probably my favorite from a moveset perspective.
8/10 I'm shocked how much I enjoy him. With his oodles of moves, there's never a dull match. No way in heck I'll be able to master him though lol.
10/10 Not sure how I should rate this one given he isn't out yet but let it be known he was one of my most wanteds. What better way to send off this massive crossover than to add a character who's whole foundation was a crossover?
Overall 9/10
Easily my favorite wave of newcomers. Just banger after banger. Even Sephiroth, who I'd consider the weakest is still quite good. For being the final characters this game will ever have, I think they chose super wisely.
And with that, I've went through every set of new characters this game had to offer. Join me next time with a bit of a wrap on my overall thoughts on them as a whole

Ramen's Ultimate Character Retrospective
Day 4: Fighter Pass 1 + Plant
Welcome back to my little series I'm doing to pass the time til the final Ultimate character is announced come the 5th. Every other day or so, I'll be looking at a set of characters added in Ultimate and give my overall thoughts on em.
Today I'll be focusing on the first wave of DLC. Given base game prioritized returning and essential content it was up to DLC to give us some more... out there newcomers. Let's see if it really delivered. Also going to add Plant here, cuz I needed to plop em in somewhere.
7/10 A guilty pleasure character for sure. Fun wacky even if they probably shouldn't be here, objectively speaking
9/10 "Never saw it coming yada yada yada". Fr though despite being a bit of an oddball pick Joker fits super well in smash. Moveset clicks aesthetic clicks, he feels real at home here.
7/10 fun to mess around with, not as much when playing for real. No doubt though that Dragon Quest earned its spot here, so I can't criticize too much
5/10 Happy for their fans, but not really a character for me. A little too vanilla in my opinion.
9/10 an extremely fun character with flashy moves, a great personality, and came with the best challenger pack in terms of content.
9.5/10 Yes I like Byleth. Just a super fun character. In my top five most played for sure.
Overall 8/10
Great picks. Pretty much all feel at home here in some regards. For the first wave of DLC, this was solid. Honestly even better than the base newcomers
That is all before the final reveal. I'll plan to be back with my initial past two thoughts sometime afterwards. Excited to see who it'll be. See y'all on the other side

Day 3: Echo Fighters
Welcome back to my little series I'm doing to pass the time til the final Ultimate character is announced come the 5th. Every other day or so, I'll be looking at a set of characters added in Ultimate and give my overall thoughts on em.
Today I'll be focusing on the Echo Fighters. Given they didn't have a lot of room for fully unique newcomers, Sakurai and his team decided to bulk up the roster a bit with a couple clone characters known as "Echo Fighters". Let's see how I think about these inclusions.
7/10 Probs a weird choice given her entirely seperate personality from Peach, but she works well enough. Probably helps I already enjoy Peach as is.
6.5/10 Basically the same opinions I have on Simon. Between the two though, I'd say I'm more of a Richter guy.
9/10 Idk man, I've already had a soft spot for Roy so Chrom clicked with me extremely quickly. Definitely my fav of the 4 Marth-likes.
4/10 Feel like putting her in as an no more than a Samus echo is a bit of a disservice given how much she could potentially do.
8/10 The OG fighting game clone. Literal no-brainer inclusion. Fun to boot.
Overall 7/10
Nothing insane or anything, but it's not like they were my main incentive to get the game. Pretty good for the most part. Think these were some solid choices for echoes.

Day 2: Base Newcomers
Welcome back to my little series I'm doing to pass the time til the final Ultimate character is announced come the 5th. Every other day or so, I'll be looking at a set of characters added in Ultimate and give my overall thoughts on em.
Today I'll be focusing on the base game newcomers (excluding echoes, saving those for next time). Given a heavy focus on the "everyone is here" aspect of the game, there wasn't a lot of room in base for newcomers, meaning they had to be very particular about the ones they did add. Let's see if they chose wisely.
8/10 literal no-brainer inclusion. Extremely fun character to boot.
7/10 Basically plays how I'd envision a Xenomorph would, and that's honestly pretty rad.
6.5/10 Enjoyable, though maybe a bit on the basic side. Definitely made sense to be here though.
7/10 intially was not a fan of this guy's inclusion, but I'd say he's grown on me quite a bit. Pretty fun to play with
5/10 Legitimately forget she's even in this game lol. Kinda disappointing given I was really looking forward to her.
9/10 This dude's just a blast. Super fun to use and just oozing with personality, doesn't hurt I've had a soft spot for it's preevolution so this inclusion did give me a bit of the feels.
Overall 7/10
There' may've been only a couple that truly knocked my socks off, but this is still a decent batch nonetheless. I come back and replay these characters every so often.

Day 1: Resurrected Veterans
Welcome to my new little series I'm doing to pass the time til the final Ultimate character is announced come the 5th. Every other day or so, I'll be looking at a set of characters added in Ultimate and give my overall thoughts on em.
Today I'll be focusing on the veterans absent from 4 that made their grand return here in Ultimate. A big factor of Ultimate was the notion of "EVERYONE IS HERE!", so I thought it'd make sense to take a glance at these.
7/10 classic smash characters for sure, so is it wrong I keep forgetting they're back here in Ultimate?
9/10 Honestly got quite a soft spot for Pichu. I already enjoy Pikachu as is, and Pichu is an extremely fun spin on the archetype. Also shout-out to being the only character on the roster to have debuted the year I was born,
8/10 My favorite of the three Links. I just enjoy his playstyle. Probably doesn't hurt he represents my favorite Zelda game, OoT.
9/10 Objectively speaking, probs the cut veteran they needed to bring back. Iconic Smash character and just a blast (heh,) to use
7/10 initially had :Squirtle and Ivysaur here listed seperately, though they both got the same score of 7/10 so I decided to just combine em here together. Overall fun characters.The addition of Leaf as a selectable trainer was a welcome change too
6/10 Like Ice climbers, sorta kinda forget he's in the game.
Overall 7.5/10
Def wasn't getting Ultimate for these alone, but they work as good little bonuses. Happy to see these guys back here.
