osby mentioned earlier today how they think a gacha style system in a big console game that has no Microtransactions and instead gives you an abundance of those summon items through normal gameplay could be a good idea so long as it’s executed well.
And I believe the same can be said about another mechanic I’ve encountered in a couple of the few gacha games I’ve played. Said mechanic has a different name depending on the game, but the idea is that you use an item that you also acquire an abundance of through normal gameplay to essentially auto complete a stage you’ve beaten normally at least once and acquire the items you get through said stage just by using this level skip item.
In grind heavy games this would be a godsend. And in a console game it would be even better because there would be no annoying stamina mechanic to limit how many times you can play a level.
