If it ain't broke don't fix it?

You would have to provide your definition of "works" to him.

Also chibo I'm on the panel for the Florida pr so contact me if you need any info. There are some changes and new players being added on (not sure order yet) so let me know if you need anything

Wow that'd be hype if we broke the record :o

@pools thing
This being my first national ofc i'm against 4 man pools for personal reasons. Reading peoples feelings and thoughts i agree with em as to why it's a bad idea. I saved up for over a year just to attend this without putting myself in debt. However, that being said(idk how other "new to nationals" feel) i'd love it regardless. If pools are smaller i'm less likely to make it out. But at the same time...i can just use that time to do my money matches i already have lined up with some of my favorite players(razer, nakat, leon, mr.r, etc.)

what do you mean if? The records already broken lol, there's no way 4 more people wont register before the deadline >.>

Also pools should be whatever it needs to be to finish on time. We don't really get to choose lol, they just need to be whatever they need to be. Depends on the final registrtion number.

If we're assuming 64 pools, once we hit 320 there wont be any 4 person pools at all. So likely expect to have a 5 person r1 pool with top 2 getting out. That sounds fair enough to me...

Why 347? What a random number lol

And again I'm down with whatever will finish on Saturday. First round is pretty much guaranteed to be over 4 people per pool due to the large attendance so I don't even see why people are in a panic

People aren't really panicking...just concerned about how it would affect the following rounds of pools and whether it'd be best.

I trust chibo/apex staff though. I'm sure they'd know what's right and how to proceed.

347 = Largest Melee tournament (Pound 4).

I mean, if people are hellbent on the four man pools, id rather just do fgc brackets. At least then we can lose 2 sets before being eliminated. The only thing not sitting me with about these pools is the likely possibility people can be knocked out by losing only 1 set. That's complete and utter bull.

235 is okay but we can do much more =)

Around 100 of those don´t enter teams sucks though. Melee players better sign up in the next few days (yeah I know I haven´t payed yet :p)

And I feel bad 1 persons tried to find out what the MK9 tourney is on I remember 2 of the tourneys were xbox (UMvC3 and 1 other) while the last was on ps3

I want to say MK was the PS3 and maybe me posting this will get a TO or someone who's read it like 5 times already would conrifm//deny this

I think your point is more applicable to second round of pools. During the first round there are so many pools to split up even questionable talent, but by second round all you have left are two first and second seeds.

You're missing the point. The main complaint is that there is a relatively low ratio of # of players who advance to # of players in the pool... which makes pools very fragile in general and gives the TOs almost no margin of error when seeding.

I'm currently working with Chibo and FullMetal to help make sure Melee seeding is done as well as it can be. The tentative plan is to look at qualifier seeding points with some adjustments to account for regional power disparity, then agree to a list of 64 first seeds between a panel comprised of main regional TOs.

Everyone please disregard any discussion about pools, nothing is set in stone. The main TOs will be looking over the numbers when the registration is closed

I can assure you the best amount of pools, number in each pools, and waves will all be determined with the best interest of the event, the players, the seeding points, and fairness and experience for everyone

that is all

At this point I dont care how many people are in my pool as long as its not 6. since that seems to be what everyone else is salty about.

and to the guy that asks about MK9 i believe its on ps3. you can check www.apexsmash.com for the deets and if you cant find it there, the apex staff has an email and you can shoot them a message that way and have them get back to you specifically.

given the timeframe we have to get down to top 8. Who else is hyped to see somebody get into second round pool purely by other people getting DQd?

4-man pools: Check this scenario:

Armada, KrazyKnux, Random1, Random2. Me and Armada 2-0 the Randoms, I 2-1 Armada without much trouble. Then he gets 2nd seed.

Round 2 pools: 1st seeds: Hungrybox, Javi, second seeds: Armada, Random #2 seed

BAM, Armada doesn't make it out of pools.

wtf :(

Apexsmash doesn't have rules for MK9 yet...says to be coming when they make their decision but its getting kinda close to the actual tourney

If the pools are 6 I will be severely dissappointed he stood his ground against URC and the whole sticky crap keeping his stage list and rules but then folds to people who have no chance to make it out of pools reguardless and their time is better spent practicing against others their skill level or watching the hype as it unfolds??? Doesn't sit right with me

Pretty much this...melee players need to sign up soon. There's at least few old school/new school names that haven't signed up yet. Azen, KDJ, Wes, Mango, Lovage, Lucky, Vectorman, etc. Also what ever happened to Puerto Rico's Lord HDL(heard he was going).

o_0, you'll disappointed because a to catered to the wishes of the people attending the event? WTF!?

And fixing a past error IS NOT the same as folding. There is no need to be stubborn for the sake of being stubborn.

I and a crap ton of people (that are still coming to this btw) still want MK to be banned for brawl at this....

you cant cater to the peoples wishes on one point, and remain completely stone hearted on another. at that point, you arent catering to the people, youre pandering to specific people.

I'm part of the URC and I don't want mk banned at this. Reasoning is very simple; A. This was announced well before the mk ban was and B. International players would get ****ed over by that. Think about it. Your planning to come to this and main mk, then a couple months before, despite all your plans being made already, he's banned all of a sudden?

There's a reason we didn't make the ban mandatory until after APEX.

None of that really takes away from my point tho.

Make a decision and stick to it, and dont make double standards was the main point of my post.
