After one year, the Smash World Tour has returned - this time, starting online in Mexico. With Mexico as one of the most competitive regions in the world, we'll take a look at some of their regions and analyze how the event might go down!

The Smash World Tour Twitter account recently announced there will be a 2021 iteration of the international tournament series for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. Melee!

Right as it seemed that the Sephiroth reveal might have the side effect of offsetting the outrage caused by Nintendo's stifling of the Smash community, they went ahead and did it again. It was recently announced that Nintendo has shut down a collegiate Super Smash Bros. Ultimate league that was set to run during the upcoming Spring semester.

On December 6th, Melee it On Me and Beyond the Summit announced 5 Days of Melee, a five-day stream event celebrating the Melee community and raising money for Direct Relief.

Nintendo apparently cancels livestreams for the upcoming Splatoon 2 North American Open. This comes on the heels of the cancellation of the Big House and the #SaveSmash and #FreeMelee movements. According to sources, over 30% of the participants had handles supporting these movements.

Shortly after The Big House’s cancellation, the hashtag #FreeMelee caught on. A few days later, an anonymous twitlonger was published and spawned massive outrage. As a result, #SaveSmash joined #FreeMelee as a popular hashtag. Why did this twitlonger spark such emotion? It alleges that Nintendo has been harming the Smash community.

After moving online due to safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's iteration of The Big House has been canceled entirely due to a cease & desist order from Nintendo.
