Frostbite 2019 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Top 8 Results and Highlights

Frostbite 2019, the latest of the now three year old series, was a great showcase of where the current meta of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is headed. While Genesis was the first major to feature Ultimate, Frostbite is a whole patch removed, and players are more intimate with the game than before. In other words, Genesis was a good chance for high-level play to be explored, while Frostbite was a good look at how high-level play has adapted and will adapt. Beyond that, its high quality production was a delight to behold, and its Top 8 was a rollercoaster of close calls, flashy finishes and brilliant strategy. Here, we will look over the Top 8 finalists, and the journeys they took through Top 48.

Melee player and Marth main, recently came under fire after it was revealed he was convicted of "sexual interference" due to a sexual relationship he had with a minor. This information came to be public knowledge after one of his supporters, and friend, finally let slip on stream that previous allegations against Nightmare were indeed true. The release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is only getting closer and closer, and we’re all pretty excited to get our hands on the game and try out all of the newest features and characters. Still, it’s almost a guarantee we haven’t seen everything Ultimate has to offer, and with four months of wait still remaining, anything could happen. With that in mind, we went around the Smashboards offices and asked some of our staff which characters they still hope to see squeeze their way into the game before the final release.
