The Smashboards News and Moderation Staff takes a crack at predicting the next DLC character for Ultimate.

Several staff members have been hard at work refining our policies. Some of these changes include: properly updating to accommodate various rising laws about privacy rights, better establish Smashboards as a welcoming and inclusive space, and reforming our forum rules. We now have several updated and brand new Help Pages.

Nintendo's E3 is right around the corner, so we decided to work together on some predictions. Who's next? We don't know, but all nine of us put towards our best frantically estimated guesses. Come and join us!

Frostbite 2019, the latest of the now three year old series, was a great showcase of where the current meta of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is headed. While Genesis was the first major to feature Ultimate, Frostbite is a whole patch removed, and players are more intimate with the game than before. In other words, Genesis was a good chance for high-level play to be explored, while Frostbite was a good look at how high-level play has adapted and will adapt. Beyond that, its high quality production was a delight to behold, and its Top 8 was a rollercoaster of close calls, flashy finishes and brilliant strategy. Nightmare, a Canadian Super Smash Bros. Melee player and Marth main, recently came under fire after it was revealed he was convicted of "sexual interference" due to a sexual relationship he had with a minor. This information came to be public knowledge after one of his supporters, and friend, finally let slip on stream that previous allegations against Nightmare were indeed true. Let's talk about how this situation reflects on the scene, the task force, and the future of Melee.

The release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is only getting closer and closer, and we’re all pretty excited to get our hands on the game and try out all of the newest features and characters. Still, it’s almost a guarantee we haven’t seen everything Ultimate has to offer, and with four months of wait still remaining, anything could happen. With that in mind, we went around the Smashboards offices and asked some of our staff which characters they still hope to see squeeze their way into the game before the final release.
