If Smash got 4th parties, I bet Scrooge McDuck and Spider-Man would be the Banjo and Steve of this situation - DuckTales is widely considered one of the best NES games and Disney TVA fandom is super devoted, while Spidey is arguably more iconic than the rat and perfectly fit for a platform fighter as a character who's main power is a form of mobility.

The Game Boy Colour is such a surreal console - Nintendo made barely any games for it, 80% of it's lineup is licensed games, the rest is mostly overambitious ports of console games, it's 8-bit but also not from or trying to evoke the 80s, a ton of it's games had an entire other game on the cartridge for Game Boy players, and most of the people developing the aforementioned licensed games were demoscene guys.
There's just something kinda surreal about what is basically a few extra colours away from an officially-licensed NES game based on Harry Potter; Monsters Inc; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; or Bob the Builder, you know?
