lol you got me

so what angle should i approach falco from? i can't come from below (dair), i can't come from above (bair/nair/crazy jumps/peach's dair sucks), and i can't come from the side (laser)

falco is so dumb :(

i guess i'll watch your matches and see what you do
lol i'm flattered but i suck at the MU too for some reason
just watch the way armada fairs, it's like a slightly above angle that's like.. iono 50 degrees from the vertical or something (i made that up)

You kind of have to come down on Falco at a 45°-ish angle when you're fairing/nairing him. It's odd, and something that you'll learn with time. (So yeah, just watch how Armada does it, I guess?)

since we're asking for advice atm:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDlvaHuUwos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H5x0-cUoVQ&feature=related (part 2, if you're so inclined :))

i really need help against this kind of falco. i have trouble dealing with camping (laser and platform...) and am looking specifically for advice on how to deal with that, AND how to recover better >_<. ofc general stuff would be nice too. please and thank you! :3
You actually handled him rather well for the most part, baka. (This doesn't really relate, but I enjoyed watching it). As for recovery, almost every time that you double jumped really high, you got baired, and died. Against Falco, you generally want to mix it up, so that he doesn't get comfortable, but recovering low is the best option. You don't want to take a dair to the face, and contrary to what you might think, it's easier for Falco to dair you if you're higher up. So low usually, maybe a few mid-heights, but going high is really risky.

(Geebus, darkatma...so many vids...)

Here's something we haven't talked about IMO.

Who are you Peach influences?

I stole everything from Mike G (speed! consecutive hits!) and Armada (faster, with better edgeguards and punishes), with some influences of Ryoko (F smash/downtilt), Xelic (turnip traps), Vidjo (fair and teams), and Smiles (powershielding)

I often feel that there's nothing authentic or unique about my FrankenPeach.

it was a camera recording and they showed the winner (a peach player) and it was this big black guy. i was shocked

LOL me too (about the nothing authentic/unique)

I learned all my stuff from Cort before Armada came around, then I was like o_O! and took some stuff from him.
Loved watching Ryoko, especially when he was rusty and still ***** vanz. Wish that kid still played melee
I still cringe when people come down with a down-air though.. because when I watched xelic/vidjo/mikeG do it, they would just get hit.

Lol...I come down with a dair more than I should, and it leads to a down smash, and works 85% of the time.

Peach influences?? Huh...in the beginning, when I first got into competitive Melee, I just played the character any which way. And then I watched an Armada vid...and was all like, "!!!" So I guess I am most influenced by his Peach style (even though I like watching all types of Peach), and he is the one I borrow from, I guess.

I like to think that my Peach is original to some degree, but it probably isn't...

Mikael's peach was revolutionary, I've always thought. I still find his ingenuity inspiring.

Vidjo was a huge inspiration, even though he wasn't a crowd pleaser lol

Cort and PC's peaches were milestones for me.

And obviously Armada! I watched his vids even before Genesis, but since then he's been like a primal force in both the peach and general melee scenes.

Ryoko taught me that is ok to leave the stage when edgeguarding. Cort Showed me that I wasn't best at Peach dittos.. .. .. and that I needed to be.

Loved watching Ryoko, especially when he was rusty and still ***** vanz.
excuse me? when was this?

Anyway Ryoko is still very good and he plays. He just doesn't travel to many tournaments. Last I saw him was Pound 5

cping you to Mute at a MDZ tourney
Vanz probably, followed by macD, DoH, and Armada, in that order. I feel like I don't borrow enough from armada >.<
PC taught me this character is about being smart more than it is about "playing peach", which was important to me because i spent a lot of time focusing on learning her rather alternative mechanics. Connor taught me I can play this character whichever way I want and still win.
Wife helped me get all the basics down, and XIF touched my heart when he FC naired that luigi like 5 times. Also, I played KrazyJones at Mass madness the other week and was reminded of how many things I've learned from him.

you don't really play Peach lol

I only see you playing fox/marth

:phone:
No actually I play falco/fox/marth/falcon/sheik/peach/Roy the most.

I have the most fun playing peach/marth/Roy so in some matchups with people slightly below my level I like to play them.

Vs peach I play marth or fox pretty much always since I know those matchups and they're fun for me.

You posted that, Alan, and then I reread the three posts...

Definitely an innuendo.

How old is crush, again?

he actually mains falco -_-
:embarrass:

I didn't see him go falco very often at No Johns, guess I just missed it.

Anyways, turnip pull percentages.

Some Normal turnip variety is pulled roughly 89% of the time. The winking face is the most common special turnip, appearing 6-7% of the time. Stitch faces and dots both appear 1.5 % of the time (i'm confident this is close to the real percentage). Mr. Saturn has a roughly 1 in 200 chance (0.5%). Beam sword and bobomb appear to be half as common as saturns (~0.25%).

So roughly 1 in every 10 Turnips is special and 1 in every 25 is awesome. Turnip pulls are discrete events, so pulling 15 smiling turnips is very possible. Of course, you can also pull two stitchfaces, though higly unlikely. This happened during testing and I was like :D

I think all I remember was that bombs were 1/300. At first I was originally told that bombs, swords, and saturns were all 1/300, but I dont think thats the case.

Somebody on Gamefaqs allegedly pulled a ridiculous number of turnips a couple years ago and got these stats:

Update

TOTAL OBJECTS UPROOTED: 5859

Generic Smiling Face: 3500 (59.74%) [1 : 1.67]
Confused Face : 599 (10.22%) [1 : 9.78]
Bored : 491 (8.38%) [1 : 11.93]
Sour Face : 398 (6.79%) [1 : 14.72]
Shocked : 320 (5.46%) [1 : 18.31]
Exuberant : 300 (5.12%) [1 : 19.53]
Stitch-face : 110 (1.88%) [1 : 53.26]
Vacuous : 90 (1.54%) [1 : 65.10]
Mr. Saturn : 24 (0.41%) [1 : 244.13]
Bob-omb : 18 (0.31%) [1 : 325.50]

Thank you, Fly. That's really close (margin of error less than a percent) to what I found using a test group of 1200 (got bored and was like **** this). That person is nuts.
