  • I don't get why people have a problem with games shipping with incomplete content and adding the rest later. To me it comes off more as an internet-age replacement for unlockable characters than "finishing it later"

    cashregister9 cashregister9 This, basically.

It'd be like playing some big open world game but a large portion of the world is completely inaccessible. You might think "Oh, it's an end game area" then proceed to beat the game. Area is still incapable of being entered. Come to find out it wasn't in the game yet because of time. You've been blocked out of an entire area all this time not because it's 'unlockable' but because the devs didn't finish it.

That's garbage. I don't care if they'll 'add it later'. It should be there NOW. Be damned if they charge money for it when it's finished.

Personally, I always felt like it was a tactic to keep people playing. You could play for a while and eventually get bored with it, but then they suddenly drop a new character and a new level or something like that, so now you've got an incentive to return.

Is it the best idea? Maybe not. But I personally don't have a problem with this thing.

Torgo the Bear Torgo the Bear That depends strictly on the game in question. Fighting games? Sure. Releasing new content keeps people coming back and attending tournaments if it's on tour, like with Capcom. MMO's? Sure. Got to keep people paying your subscriptions, buy expansions or other transactions.

But for stand alone, single player games? This style is crap if they're selling back content. Because the 'incentive' to have people keep playing isn't the same as 'live service' games. It's nice to have real additional content, not if that content was lopped off before release or just not finished by release only to be sold back to us.
I saw both Bay TMNT movies in cinemas when they came out and I only remember the scene where Bebop and Rocksteady, after just getting mutated, stare at their big PPs.

Well, they're the reason people watched the second movie.
2018-to-2019 was a brief but glorious period where barely-if-sentient joke characters ruled.
I have made a lot of fake Spirits battles over the years, but this one is my proudest achievement.
    Churchill
    Churchill
    Novice class

    Stage: Onett
Opponents: Border Collie Duck Hunt, invisible giant Captain Falcon x 2
    Song: Big Brain Academy
Rules: The Captain Falcons avoid conflict with the main fighters and spam Falcon Dive against each other. Defeat Duck Hunt to win.
If you don't get it, Churchill is a British insurance mascot (we love our insurance mascots over here for some reason) who's catchphrase is "Oh yes!", the Captain Falcons are just there so you're constantly hearing "Yes!" during the battle
I don't know if this is nostalgia speaking, but Mario Kart Wii's soundtrack is so many leaps and bounds above the rest of the series it's kinda insane (and yes, that includes fully-orchestrated big-budget big-band Mario Kart 8!)
I think I finally know what it's like to have an "eargasm"
There was a problem fetching the tweet
I unironically love the Sonic Eraser theme, and this is much better.
Imagine being a Nintendo exec and trying to explain to investors why you made a billion yen deal with one of the biggest game companies on Earth to use a one-off character from one of the worst-selling games in a series you own 99.9% of the beloved characters from even though you could've probably got the license to Lara Croft, Gex, or Space Invaders for the same price.
Yooo, just found out who CP11 is! It's everyone's favourite rhythm game character, the Boyfriend!

Nick Brawl speculation has the exact opposite problem from SSBU speculation pre-Sephiroth

Instead of "Geno conspiracy theories", it's "Anti-Dora conspiracy theories".
If I could go back to any place and time in history, it'd be the boardroom of whatever ad agency approved this, when they approved it.
Sonic 1 is underrated. It's the only game in the franchise I feel truly rewards careful management of speed. That doesn't make it the best, Mania and 3K triumph over it in many ways and I'd argue Sonic 2 to be of an equal quality, but I think there's just as much merit to Sonic 1's "punish mindless speed, reward strategic speed" level design as the other games' "platforming is the challenge, mindless speed is the reward" level design.
There's no such a thing as a "responsible gun owner". It is an oxymoron.

The bad guy with a gun kills because he has no self-control, the "good" guy with a gun kills because that's what he actually believes is morally right and will actively decide to do.

Frankly, the bad guy has the moral high ground.

As much as I do believe gun control is important for America, I sort of disagree with this. If someone has the proper license to use a gun, and uses it responsibly by keeping it locked up and only taking it to like, a shooting range or hunting (legally) every once and a while then I don’t think there’s a problem. It’s really just a hobby.

Of course, people who actually get off on immediately shooting robbers or criminals no questions asked have a profound disrespect for human life and are very irresponsible. However, if you see someone breaking into your house and are a gun owner I think you should be able to threaten them to surrender with a gun before the police come, and if they get violent to the point that someone’s life is in immediate danger, then yes they should most likely be fired at.

I mean, if you see someone breaking into your house, and they get physical or start taking important things like cash, personal info, etc, then I think it's ok to shoot. Non lethally if at all possible, but sometimes it is nessecery, or sometimes it is an accident. Those who shoot indiscriminately are at fault to an extent, but it's a case by case system. Saying that because one dude shot someone without warning does not mean that no one should own a gun. Like Champion said, if is used responsibly and is only used for hobbies or extremely severe scenarios, then it's fine. But you do need to limit who gets a gun. Gun control is important. Background checks should be required before purchase.
Let's say you get a 5-game-deal with Nintendo to make whatever games you want with their established IPs and characters - what do you make? For me:

    1. Drill Dozer remake
    2. Proper Yoshi's Island sequel
    3. Complete Game & Watch Gallery including licensed games, Mini Classics, variants, and Nelsonic Game Watches, as well as multiplayer options
    4. Some sort of "obscure character" crossover with Waluigi as the mascot (not sure what genre though, football or foot racer perhaps?)
    5. 3D Mole Mania reboot
    Tankman from Newgrounds
    Tankman from Newgrounds
    1. Mysterious Murasame Castle reboot with new Story, mechanics and Open-world system.
    2. New Ice Climbers reboot like KI: Uprising, being more 3D platform game with accents of classic Ice Climber.
    3. Pokemon Warriors (Warriors game, but with Pokemon)
    4. New Star Fox game, where Team Star Fox flies through Time-Space portals to new different realities.
    5. Nintendo Warfare (Third-Person Shooter with Nintendo Characters inspired by Call of Duty, Battlefield, Overwatch, Valorant and PvZ: Garden Warfare)
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
    1. A Mario game similar to Advance Wars
    2. A Pokemon/Fire Emblem crossover similar to Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Pokemon Conquest
    3. I
    4. Have no
    5. Ideas at the moment
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
    1. Linear 3D DK platformer
    2. Smash spinoff that's a 3D Arena fighter
    3. Puzzle League game where the English localization changes the game to feature Captain N as well as other non-game Nintendo characters
    4. Mario & Luigi & Wario & Waluigi
    5. Isometric 3D Kirby game.
CEoTFK is, IMO, the peak of Bubsy's characterisation. I like that he's a little more of a vulnerable wimp than your regular scrimblo and has that right balance of self-deprication without coming off like he's trying to excluse the poor quality of the game.
The cartoon pilot has my least favourite take on Bubsy, an overconfident narcissist who would be better fit for a villain role, and that unfortunately because the standard for the series in the reboot - though they toned down the narcissism well enough for him to not become as obnoxious as in the cartoon. Bubsy 3D is a bit of an outlier because that take on him feels like another character all together, more of a curious if snarky kitten than a smug megastar bobcat.

Should I write a serious, long essay about Bubsy? I earnestly love this franchise even though it's objectively garbage.
People often say "why Ashley? what does she do?" but that's the exact reason I want Ashley. I want characters with new moves never before seen, and to not know what to expect from their playstyle when they get in. Ashley, a character with a very specific theme but few known powers, fits that bill perfectly.

That's one of the reasons why I want Ashley in so much. She has so much potential but not much shown, so it forces people to be creative. You can see this with fan movesets, which usually base it off of what she's shown to be able to do, and puts a unique spin on it with working them into different mechanics, as well as new moves that fit her perfectly as well. I've seen such a wide variety of them and they're all so different and unique, which really shows Ashley's potential.
The only Smash characters I think should get radical reworks are Sonic, Min Min, and Daisy. Daisy is the only one of these "game accuracy" really plays a role in my thoughts on.

Don't Inkling's genders and the 4 Heroes have different taunts? Unlike Daisy I think the Arms characters would only need their taunts and maybe idle stance changed to feel right.

The Inklings and the Heroes have the same Taunts, Byleth has a single different taunt. The big thing that gets changed between alt are the Victory animations, Byleth and Pokemon trainer have different sets of Victory animations depending on gender. The taunt changes are only slight variances on the same animation, same with the Idle Poses.

All I was trying to say is why half-ass 4 characters when you can whole ass 1.
If we were to get an original character in Smash, I'd prefer them to be designed to exist within one of the series already in Smash. Always thought it'd be cool to introduce a proper Warpichi through Smash.

Technically Dark Pit was that but still.

I DON'T CARE HOW MANY OWLS YOU SEND ME, DUMBLEDORE

    I'M NOT GOING TO HOGWARTS

I WANT TO BE A FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST AND PREFERABLY NOT GET ISEKAI'D

THIS OWL CRAP IS BLACKMAIL, LEAVE ME ALONE OR I'LL SUE

THE RSPCA PROBABLY AIN'T HAPPY ABOUT THE ANIMAL LABOUR EITHER

YOU GAVE MY DAD A PAPERCUT
If Tetromino gets in Smash, I want it to be as lifelessly animated as possible, not spinning when it gets hit, or even registering taunt inputs. Ever seen that Brawl mod that replaces Yoshi with a T-posing Tommy Pickles? Yeah, that's what I'm going for.
