Political humour in media, especially animation with how long it takes to make (looking at you modern Simpsons and Animaniacs reboot) only really works with either foresight or perpetuity. Topical event-related jokes work fine as social media posts, but for comedies that can’t be made in 6 seconds you should wait until they’ve long passed so the mention can be surprising and everybody knows the full story. Jokes about political inevitabilities that have been going on forever with no sign of stopping also work just fine and have the potential to age like a fine wine.
