as a "Halo Killer" to a crowd entirely comprised of silently-judgemental yes-men is really funny to me, and 2. as someone who was around for (or at least could watch YouTube videos during) the "why did cally duty kill me precious platformers?" discourse of the early 2010s, it appears that is - like many things - also a nuture issue and not a nature issue.

I've been adding tons of undocumented games to IGDB, which is naturally mostly promotional flash games, and something I found out is that IGDB doesn't have pages for the non-character Smash DLC aside from a very small selection of Ultimate's Mii Costumes, so I've added the 3DS/Wii U stage DLC, and it'll be very funny when they show up on my Backloggd list alongside "Which One of SpongeBob's Front Teeth Are You?" and "Scrat's Cheestrings Meltdown".

When you step back for a second, it's really weird how Smash fans priotise playable fighters over all other appearances to the extent that being completely absent from the game is basically the optimal 2nd second place scenario rather than being an assist trophy, super move teammate, or stage hazard, at least in the first few months of a DLC cycle.

I find it funny how a lot of Nintendo's longest lasting series debuted in really awkward circumstances that would basically be a death kneel for anything else.

Pikmin was GameCube, Splatoon was Wii U, Animal Crossing was an N64 game exclusive to the region where the hardware was least popular, Pokemon was a B&W Game Boy game mere months before the Color and multiple years after 3D became the norm, Kirby's second game was a two-years-post-SNES NES game, Mario Tennis was a double punch of Virtual Boy followed by late N64, Xenoblade had a shady GameStop exclusive deal, even Donkey Kong (and by extension Mario) had a really rocky arcade launch that led to the creation of Crazy Kong.

I am so glad that Two More Eggs seems to be getting a reappraisal, I actually watched that one as a kid instead of consuming it through Mr. Enter's second-hand smoke and loved it, probably because it's filled with ludicrously niche 90s references. I think a lot of 2010s-era cartoon writers overestimated how many kids were becoming familiar with old media through the internet, but luckily for me, I was the star that alligned and recognised the tropes/aesthetics pastiched by stuff like Trauncles, Hot Dip, and CGI Palz.
