I had a dream where a pizza shop opened near me with, for some inexplicable reason, an AOSTH Robotnik theme, and 2000s Sonic fans staged a riot there because it was meta or something.

It's weird how obsessed anti-AI-bros are with the definition of "art". There are tons of valid arguments against AI use, including recreationally, but everyone just focuses on weird non-relevant etymology-based petty insults that vaguely tie in to the abstract idea of the human condition, aimed at... basically nobody. Like, you should be critcising the lack of attribution these tools give and their marketing as anything other than a party trick, or the big Hollywood studios and clickbait farms actually trying to replace people, not the terminology of all things, or - as I've made fun of anti-AI-bros for aiming at a lot - kids who want to make SpongeBob say **** words. There are situations where terminology is important, like class and race, but this isn't really one of them, "art" to many just means "still image", and I'm pretty sure that's the notion the term AI art is meant to evoke, not that someone using it is a sophisticated and serious artiste, just as smashing paint at a wall can be art in a literal sense, even if maybe not figurative.

If the next Smash has a primarily original stage lineup like Melee and Brawl did, I actually think it'd be really cool if Mario's stage selection was like 80% Mario Kart. Not only is MK basically the main series and not the platformers at this point, but it also has the most interesting locations of any Nintendo franchise IMO, given it's probably the one most dependent on locations.

Asking for a Wario Smash moveset without farting is like asking for a Mario moveset without fireballs.

So, what I'm gathering from the trailer for the next episode of Digital Circus is:

Mainstream animation: pitch it as an episodic comedy, once you get the greenlight, lore and shonen transformations time
Indie animation: pitch it as a lore-driven epic, once you get the greenlight, episodic teleportation adventures in wacky backdrops time

I feel like a lot of Nintendo fans, in relation to the Switch's third party support, treat it as a game itself, that should have a consistent vision or something? Like "Antonblast before Pizza Tower just feels wrong!" that's not a creative or even business decision anyone made, those are two seperate games, one with a developer that wanted to port it, another with a developer that didn't. "Why would Microsoft put Call of Duty on Switch instead of Rare Replay?" because they think there are people who want to play COD on Switch, and are less confident that Rare Replay would still make money (keep in mind that Rare Replay is 1. a budget title, and 2. heavily dependant on the Xbone's built-in capability of OG and 360 emulation) - this is not cause and effect or a case of priorities. Not everyone who owns a Nintendo console is a fan of Nintendo games, let alone a non-fan of the gritty GAAS shooter market - in fact, there are probably more COD fans playing Switch than Rare fans just on virtue of COD being a bigger IP than anything Rare has ever done including DKC.

Seriously, why would you be upset over any game being avaliable on your console? There's not a finite amount of games in the world, console libraries are a situation where everyone can be happy without compromise, because there's just so many people making games, just wait until the current consoles drop in price to get everything else you missed.

I'm playing the VB games in an emulator that makes them look purplish-grey, but even then I think I've become very attentive to red objects during this masochistic experiment.

This is dumb and petty ,but it annoys whenever NASB fan rosters place the 4 Nicktoons Unite shows at the beginning of the listing. Like, I can understand not going SpongeBob-Garfield-TMNT because acquisition and all, but like, there's no way that DP, FOP, and JN are more iconic Nickelodeon franchises than something like Rugrats or Hey Arnold, hell, even Avatar if we're talking within the 2000s bias most of the diehard NASB fandom has - hell, I'd probably place Zim higher in the "iconic olympics" than Danny.

I think calling a game a "clone" is a decent neutral shorthand in a vacuum, but should only really be used to singify extreme functional similarities rather than a sub-genre as a whole. I wouldn't call NASB1 or Rivals 1 "Smash clones", but if there wasn't such a needless stigma to the idea of a "clone", I would be comfortable calling their respective sequels (and Slap City too) "Smash clones"

So far the best VB game I've played (not including Wario Land, which I played many years earlier and will be revisiting soon) is... uhh... generic golf. 3 of my most anticipated games (Innsmouth no Yakata, Jack Bros, and Mario Clash) are in a row, buuut Innsmouth was a real disappointment so I'm a little anxious going into these next 2.

Why does the Bubble have a rectangle as one of its buttons, shouldn't it be more distinct from the square? A heart? an octagon? a droplet? a plus-sign? Or just have 4 buttons like a normal console?

It really rubs me the wrong way that all new Smash characters get individual CGI trailers while most of Nintendo's other game reveal trailers, including major titles like Mario Wonder and BOTW, either open straight into gameplay footage, a recycled cutscene, or basic text. Putting aside my personal gripes with Smash cameos being built up as important, I'm just really put off by the idea of being a developer for say, Mario Party, and seeing the game I worked on being revealed with narration over B-roll, and then Sora's cameo in Smash being given a bombastic Disney-quality cinematic trailer only a week later.

Compare the Arms reveal trailer - primarily live action footage with some CGI sections in a barren warehouse with only 2 characters and a bunch of disembodied arms - and the Min Min Smash reveal trailer - fully animated with proper backgrounds and the near entire cast of Arms portrayed in person. When you put them side by side it's actually shocking, and Arms has one of the higher budget recent non-Smash Nintendo trailers too.
