Logan Kart 8 feels like the opposite of the whole "Mario 64 has a negative emotional aura" thing, like I'm pretty sure this game's stages are meant to look worn-down and depressing as a joke on Mario Kart 8's psuedo-realistic graphics (they have names like "Miserable Rainy Stage" and "Lame Kiddy Pool") yet they bring me immense joy and evoke a lot of places I enjoyed going to as a kid. (I'm British.)

I think that if Nintendo was to introduce a second crossover franchise, it should be a cozy game of some kind. Not just because Nintendo's only active cozy franchise is probably bigger than Zelda at this point, but also because it would allow for character interactions; a huge character pool; a better embrace of Nintendo's mostly-kiddie library than Smash's perpetual "No guys, Kirby's just as cool as Kratos, don't take my lunch money" phase; and also just be very sweet.

Continuing from the post below, I don't like how Smash tends to avoid making alts that change the colour of a character's body unless they're clotheless or customisable in their source material. Like, obviously the biggest issue here is in a diversity scale, putting in a dark-skinned Marth or whatever is an adequete band-aid for gaming and especially Nintendo's historical failure at depicting non-white/Asian bodies, but also... why do the Star Fox characters only get one or two cool fur/feather dyes instead of a whole lineup? Why can't there be a cartoon-alien-green-skined Olimar walking about?

I know people joke about the 6 hour long Toy Story 4 video essay a lot, but have you ever sat down to watch a bit of it? The dude, without any irony, specifically accuses the director by name of intentionally trying to ruin the franchise for malicious gain because of minor toy-rules logic inconsistencies (even though every single Toy Story film or spin-off contradicts its own individual logic at some point. Toy Story 3 implied that toys have Facebook accounts and willingly sell themselves on eBay for crying out loud)

Adult Swim being the only major non-indie brand to really jump on the whole Steamboat Willie thing is funny because, looking at what enters the PD in the next 2 decades, Warner Bros. easily has the most to quote-unquote "lose" of the big 5, by quite a margin too. The Hobbit, Superman, Batman, Tom & Jerry, and the Chuck Jones/Tex Avery Looney Tunes are all big money-makers for WB and will be PD by the end of the 2030s, as will their specific takes on the Oz imagery. The other 4's tried-and-tested IP pool - including Disney - leans significantly more recent.

I think crossover games, when making story modes, should try their damn hardest to avoid having anything that could even be remotely percieved as a "singular canon hero" (not counting marketing, that's fair, Mario's face is a bigger draw than something like Falco) - it's a crossover, the main protagonist should be the player's favourite, not the canonical most powerful or whatever.

The knowledge that multiple advert mascots are public domain has made me realise that something like the plot of Epic Mickey but with Mickey and Oswald swapped for proto-Ronald and Speedee, and other old ads that entered the public domain in place of all the obscure Disney stuff, would be awesome.

Even though I call them "ewaste", I don't actually think Amiibos are environmentaly problematic - carbon footprints and recycling are oil industry cover-ups, buy as much plastic tat as you want - I think it's just funny to call them that, since they're probably the only mass-produced plastic toys I never see called "landfill bait" or such like you see for Funko Pops and Legos.

Basically just skimmed through the Gen 3 Pokemon list for the Brawl DLC thread, and I just realised that Skitty is actually a perfect fit for Smash with its big ol' tail and hyperactive cat-brain. Surprised I've never seen it brought up (or really any pink-frilly-girly-girl Pokemon that isn't Tinkaton or a Puff line evo now I think about it) given its relative popularity and the technical prescedent set by Puff

I recently saw someone suggest that they actively wanted AI to take people's jobs just so adaptations will be more faithful to their source material. I think I finally get the anti-AI stance. The AI bros are real, guys.

Bullying people and acting like Socrates over images of Shrek doing a mukbang is still ****ing stupid though, so I still refuse to label myself "anti-AI", and I will still be using the funny incoherent voices, and will still be ruthlessly mocking anti-AI-bros for the above. Call me an AI centrist.
