  • And the trend of me being stunned by the talents of voice actors continues.

I assume you all know what Ganondorf's voice sounds like in Tears of the Kingdom.

Well that same VA also provided the voices for Chrom in Fire Emblem, Lao in Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yusuke in Persona 5, Espio the freaking Chameleon in Mario and Sonic at the 2016 Olympics, and even Spyro the Dragon in Skylanders Imaginators.

    Mind. Is. Blown.
You know it's kind of funny. Despite how heavy Totk hints at LinkXZelda in a shipping sense, the game also provides a form of defense for pairings like LinkXMipha or LinkXRuto for Ocarina of Time.

One of the points people have made against such pairings is that they wouldn't work because it's a human and a fish. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that this is a point I used to use against those pairings once upon a time.

But considering Totk blatantly shows a marriage between a human and a zonai, and the zonai are goat-like people, there you go. Canonically such an argument against Link and the Zora girls does not work.
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
Why did people say that. Mipha and Link being fiances is literally a plot point in botw.

Speaking from experience, I used to have a bad habit of just automatically assuming that any Human/Non-Human relationship was beastiality. Maybe that was and/or is the case for others as well.

I have long since realized the problems with this mindset. Thank you Human/Alien relationships in Marvel stuff. And in DC stuff. And in Dragon Ball.

Janx_uwu Janx_uwu I'm pretty sure the implication for the Zora armor was that Mipha made it hoping to get married to Link one day, but was too shy to ever tell him her feelings. BotW/TotK love to tease shippers for some reason.

Still goes to show that zora x hylian relationships aren't unspeakable in the Zelda world.
This is purely a gut feeling without any actual evidence to back it up, so it could very well be entirely incorrect, but I get the impression that of the playable kongs aside from DK and Diddy in Donkey Kong 64, Chunky Kong is the least popular of the 3.

Which if that's true, it makes it all the more ironic that out of those 3 he's received the best treatment in side material. Sure a small, unvoiced cameo in the Mario Movie isn't much, but it's better than what the other two have gotten.

What has Tiny Kong gotten in side material? A playable role in a Diddy Kong Racing remake where she received a bad redesign.

What has Lanky Kong gotten in side material? Death.

No seriously. There's a manga of DK64 where Lanky Kong dies.
Since the next big Sonic game coming up is Superstars, which uses the classic designs of the characters, what do you think will happen with the next Sonic Twitter Takeover?
So out of curiosity I was looking into some details about a rumor I heard that Pokemon Scalret and Violet would run better on more powerful hardware.

I seem to have gotten "yes" as my answer but along the way I found an article claiming that opposite that also said that games like Xenoblade 3, Bayonetta 3, and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope also have performance issues like frame-rate dips and pop-ins.

Does anyone have anything to share about that? Because I'll be blunt with you, I don't buy it.
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
I don't know the specifics but think sometimes optimizing games to specific hardware can make them run better, and that one of the challenges of emulation programs is getting games to run properly. It's also part of the reasons some 3rd party games don't always go multiplat.

So hypothetically Scarlet/Violet have the potential to run better on strong hardware but it might take some tweaking.

All that aside a huge part of their performance issues also probably come from them being poorly optimized in general.
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
The game as a whole has a very rushed feel to it once you complete the main story. The game likely didn't have the dev time to optimize everything.

This post was asking about supposed performance issues of games like Xenoblade 3 and Bayonetta 3.
A couple of years before the kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night was revealed, Konami hit a massive decline.

Remember the fiasco with the Pachinko Machines an all the reports of bad treatment of their workers? I rest my case.

Bloodstained’s campaign started in 2015. And again, this decline started a couple years before that. So it’s been a decade since then.

Has Konami released a single really good game in that time? I legit do not know.
Two of the most classic and most popular moves in Pokémon are Thunderbolt and Thunder. Thundershock is pretty notable as well and Thunder Wave can be very reliable for catching wild Pokémon.

Given the pattern those names have of being “Thundersomething” I’m kind of surprised that we’ve never gotten a move called “Thunderstorm”.
Has it been long enough to where we don't need to be quite as cautious about spoilers for the Mario Movie and Tears of the Kingdom? I don't know just yet, so I'm going to ahead and mark this one as a spoiler.

Nintendo never makes MarioXPeach or LinkXZelda canon and I understand why at least to a degree. But the Mario Movie and Tears of the Kingdom did have me wondering if they were going to end up breaking this trend.

They didn't. And again, I kind of get why. Plus people who aren't really into shipping won't care anyway.

That being said, what do you guys think in terms of if Nintendo should just blatantly show a kiss or something every once in a while? Think it would be nice? Think they shouldn't? And how big a deal do you think it would be if the opposite of what you believe ends up happening?
    Linkmain-maybe

Link and Zelda share a bed in Links house. They are canon.

Kissing is gross so no /j

Honestly on Mario/Peach's case I think a lot of it comes down to Mario games being goofy an largely targeted at young kids (even if tons of adults still play them), who aren't really all that really interested in romance. A passionate kiss scene between Mario and Peach would be...really jarring. Still it feels like the implication is that Mario/Peach are actually a think, they just play it really soft.

As with Link/Zelda there are some games where it feels like there's no real romance between them (OoT, TP, arguably WW), and some where there definitely is meant to be (SS, BotW). In those latter games it feels like they're deliberately playing on unresolved romantic tension because they know their largely teen and young adult fanbase go absolutely cuckoo for that.

The unresolved tension thing also applies to Mario/Peach, just to a softer extent because again, Mario is way more light hearted in tone.
Finally got to see the Mario Movie. Took me this long because I was waiting to see it with a friend.

Now apparently there's a divide when it comes to opinions about that movie. You do you, but for me, I thought it was really good. I'm glad I got to see it while it was still in theaters.
You know. I'm not going to lie. I initially thought that people would generally not like Street Fighter 6 because of being burned by how Street Fighter 5 was handled and how SF6 apparently did something similar to what Soul Calibur did with that Patrokolos guy. Which a number of fans didn't like.

That's what I thought would happen. But I'm glad to admit that it looks like I was wrong and that people are really enjoying the game.
I'm finding myself in need of some advice here.

So I don't know how familiar a lot of you are with modern day deviantart, but that site allows artists to do something called "adoptables".

You know how a lot of artists say you need to credit their work if you share it? Or even get permission to share it in the first place? Well if you buy an adoptable you don't necessarily need to do that as the entire idea is you can basically do whatever you want with the idea you buy.

Just now I found some available adoptables that I found would be helpful in figuring out certain details of art pieces I want to commission some artists for. So I went ahead and bought them.

What I didn't realize until after I had already made the purchase was that the art was made with Stable Diffusion. Which is an AI Art Generator.

That felt like a bit of an "oof" revelation, but right now I don't think I can say I regret the purchase.

I know some people are vehemently against AI Art, including a number of people on this site, and I have at least a basic idea of the reasons why, but this particular account is a group of people who, according to the accounts description, makes it seem like they are in fact artists who think of the ideas themselves and work hard to ensure that the art comes out right despite the AI generation.

I'll admit I don't know the details of how all that stuff works, but it did seem to me like they are legit artists. The account description did mention things along the lines of how these artists can sometimes struggle with appreciation and motivation after all.

This is the part I'm stumped on. As I said, I bought these adoptables because I found them helpful for forming ideas in my head that I've wanted to commission of human artists for a decent while now. I can already confirm that certain adjustments will be made to the designs I bought.

I just kind of worry that there might be some issues present with using them as references for those commissions given that these adoptables are AI Art. What do you guys think?
So after the PS3 had finished it's run, Kevin Butler was no longer employed with Sony.

And I'm going to be honest here, I don't actually know the reason why this was the case.

Literally the only thing I ever heard about the reason why was a somewhat joking statement of "Kevin Butler was fired for playing Mario Kart."

Whatever the actual reason is, there's no way in hell it was that simple.
The main selling point of the web show “One Minute Melee” is having cool fight scenes without caring about analysis for who would logically win.

And I remember years ago when I thought of a rather silly idea for a match-up that wouldn’t work for something like Death Battle but fits for One Minute Melee since that show actually has room to just make stuff up.

The idea was Segata Sanshiro vs Kevin Butler. A battle between the advertiser of the Sega Saturn and the advertiser of the PS3.

If you’ve seen the Death Battle of Segata Sanshiro vs Chuck Norris, then you’d know what to expect from Segata in a fight. But what about Kevin Butler?

Simple. Give him an Iron Man style mech suit made of the parts a PS3 is made of. And instead of being called the uni-beam, the chest laser would instead be called the blu-ray.
I can't help but wonder what the future will hold for main series Zelda games. Fantastic as Botw and Totk are I don't think they really can, or will really want to, have the style be the new norm forever.

But at the same time on has to wonder about the idea of them going back to the style of 3d Zelda's like Twilight Princess. If I have my information correct, Miyamoto has already that TP will be the last Zelda game of that style. And if they do go back to it, there's bound to be people who consider it a downgrade at Botw and Totk.

Now both of those points do have some flaws present within theme. Even if Miyamoto did say that there's still plenty of time for him to change his mind and/or retire. And let's be real, the whole "downgrade" comment would more than likely be another one of things that haters and people who are overly critical just blow out of proportion. The kind of thing that isn't worth treating as a serious concern.

But back to the main point here, I'm very curious as to what else new main series games in terms of 3d Zelda will have to them in the future.
There are a number of bad points people can make against a character being playable in Smash.

One of the less common ones I remember was when this guy I used to know didn’t like the idea of Little Mac being playable because “he’s already in a fighting game”.
Link will almost guaranteed be getting a Totk revision in the next smash. And when it comes to the down b of bombs, I can certainly see them just using Bomb Flowers. But I am curious about the potential of them being the Zonai Time Bombs instead.
Shadow the Hedgehog is not a game I hate. But there is one point people use in defense of the game that is, no offense, pretty flawed.

It's a response to those who hate the fact that guns are in the game. The response goes "Sure the guns are there. But you don't have to use them."

Which isn't really the case. There are enemies present within the game, bosses and otherwise, that take forever and a half to defeat without the guns.
    KneeOfJustice99
    KneeOfJustice99
I'm sorry if I'm like woefully missing the point here but like, lowkey, if your best defence of a game from a specifically critical standpoint is "It's good when you don't use the central mechanic around which the gameplay is designed!", your argument has effectively instantly fallen apart. It's equivalent to writing a book review about a toddler's scrawlings and claiming it to rival the collected works of H.G. Wells but "you just don't get it because you can't read it". It's farcical.

I don't hate the game either but when a game's main, central mechanic drags down the rest of the experience then something is very, very wrong
The 5 best Zelda games to make a Shonen Jump Style anime out of (In my opinion and in no particular order)

A Link to the Past: The 2d Zelda game that would be the most notable in terms of the anime being based on "traditional Zelda themes".

Ocarina of Time: The 3d Zelda game that would be the most notable in terms of the anime being based on "traditional Zelda themes". Also would be cool to see an expansion on the abilities of the Sages.

Minish Cap: I believe the theories out there about how Force, aka the stuff Force Gems are made out of in the Four Swords games, is a sacred power that dwells in all living things, and is also the energy used to cast magic. Minish Cap is the best Four Swords game to make this kind of anime out of given it's the only one that plays like a traditional Zelda game, and would be a good showing of Force being the source of magic since Vaati acquires at least part of the Light Force in this game. It would also be pretty neat to see some expanded abilities of the Four Elements that end up forging the Four Sword.

Breath of the Wild: One of the best examples of a Zelda game with plenty of characters to focus on given the efforts of multiple people of Hyrule preparing to oppose the Calamity. Also an expansion on the capabilities of Sheikah Technology.

Tears of the Kingdom: A character who ends up becoming a very creative builder of Zonai Technology would probably end up being one of my favorite characters.
Not at 100% mind you. Just the main story. But holy cow the last form of the final boss is a huge step up from BOTW.

It is still a bit on the easy side, but it's no longer a free win. You can lose if you're not careful. And the gameplay is a lot more engaging.

The final boss's final form in Totk had an even more epic setting that it did in Botw. And I'm happy to say the boss battle actually lives up to that setting this time.
There have been a ton of rumors about obtaining the Triforce in Ocarina of Time.

Arguably the most famous of which is the "Overture of the Sages" hoax from Ariana Almandoz.

But what if Nintendo were to release another remake of Ocarina of Time, but this time they make it so that this Overture of the Sages method for obtaining the Triforce actually works?

    Yay or Nay?
If Dragalia Lost actually did a crossover event with Legend of Zelda I wonder what element Link would have been.

Weapon is obvious. Sword. But I’m not sure if he would have been Wind or Light for the element.
Before Totk came out, I made a post talking about possible new ingredients that weren't in BOTW.

One of the ingredients I ended up mentioning was Cheese. Which I recently found in the game.

Makes me feel pretty pleased that at least one of my predictions got in. And the fact that you can use that Cheese in cooking to make Pizza just blows my mind.
I recently finished acquiring all the sages from the Regional Phenomena quest and the next thing in line for me was going to Hyrule Castle to find out what was going on with Zelda.

I ended up trying to find a way into the castle through the chasm underneath it and eventually found out that’s not the correct path because that’s the way towards the final boss.

Which leads me into the main point of this post. E10 is too low an ESRB rating for this game.

The Depths are already, I’ll admit it, scary enough as is, but the closer you get to Ganondorf the scarier it gets. A super dark area lit up only by the dark and eerie glow of gloom complete with very foreboding music?

I’m pretty sure the idea of Heaven, Earth, and Hell was part of the inspiration for the 3 maps but Ganondorfs Chamber takes the hell factor to a new level.
If Dragalia Lost had received a Xenoblade Collab during its run, Rex could have potentially been in a weird spot if Pyra and Mythra were also their own adventurers.

Not saying he couldn’t work. But if Pyra and Mythra are already using their own weapons they might want to do something different with Rex. Water Sword with his weapon before he found Pyra? Wind Axe with Rocs Scythe? Those are a couple ideas.
Torgo the Bear mentioned a few days ago how their ideal Mario Kart Roster would include Diddy Kong Racing Characters.

A fine idea in my opinion. But I also wonder if those characters being playable would mean the Diddy Kong Racing items would be added to the mix.
How big is the overall base of people who feel like the way Min Min plays in Smash goes against the flow of the game?

I used to think Min Min was not really a consideration for a character to cut but I’m beginning to wonder if she might be. And this is one of the reasons why.
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
She's the type who I think should be toned down a bit but not cut entirely.

Make her a tiny bit more well rounded and make her arm attacks less rediculous, probably by making them much more reactable at a long range.
    A_Kae
    A_Kae
minmin is tricky because she's the sort of design that if it works even halfway decently it's going to be super frustrating to play against even if it isn't a top tier and that's always going to be an easy option to look at for making cuts. Probably would save a lot of time on balancing/design work too, takes a lot to make sure a more unique character like that can fit in. Plus she isn't particularly well-liked, especially in japan? from what I hear anyways.

But if she stays for SSB6 or UltimateX2 or whatever I fully expect some nerfs or redesigns to her.
Whoever decided to have the 3 dragons from the last game go into the chasms to fly through the depths deserves a massive raise.

In Botw you could usually only get 1 material at a time from the dragons. But I stood on top of Farosh as it flew a couple laps along it's route and since after 10 in game hours the dragons re-charge and let you get another material from them, I acquired 10 Farosh materials from 1 encounter.

Would have acquired even more if a Star Fragment hadn't shown up =P
Earlier this month, Champion of Hyrule told me about he thinks that Square Enix and Ubisoft are currently worse than EA.

And I will admit that this surprised me. I did already know about how Square was getting pretty ridiculous with things like the choice they made for Disiddia NT in an attempt to make it an esport. And how they got a little ridiculous with the Microtransactions in Chocobo GP.

And I also learned later on that Ubisoft apparently out out a really bad game for the PS5, I think it was called Forspoken, but that’s pretty much it.

Long Story Short, I don’t think I’m in the know about what’s so bad about Square Enix and Ubisoft lately.
    Champion of Hyrule
    Champion of Hyrule
Ubisoft hasn’t been as dog**** as before, Assassin’s Creed Mirage looks like it’s going to fix or at least address a lot of the series’s problems but there’s still sexual assault at the company that has gone back years and gone unaddressed so yeah terrible company.

For Square, NFTS mostly, plus their overuse of the live service model. Babylon’s Fall was one of the biggest video game disasters in recent memory, and there’s the time they sold all their IPs to the Embracer Group. Oh plus they just out right refuse to include non-white characters in Final Fantasy 16 now.

I don’t think EA is “getting better” or anything it’s just had a significant less amount of controversies than SE lately.
    Perkilator
    Perkilator
I still consider Ubisoft the worst of the three listed here.
If you're a fan of Avatar like I am than what I'm about to say will come as no surprise, but it kinda sucks that there's never been a good Avatar video game.

The Wii version of the very first Avatar game is a guilty pleasure for me I will admit, but it's still not a good game.

Honestly, probably the closest any Avatar game has gotten to being good was the Legend of Korra game that Platinum made. But even that was kind of bland.
Does anyone else here find the usefullness of Mario's Fireball Neutral B to be a bit questionable?

I'm not saying the move should be replaced. It absolutely should stay but maybe upgrade it a bit?

It might just be me, and there could very well be some flaws present in this mindset, but I feel like the Fireball isn't exactly a reliable move to use in a match.
I gotta ask, was Miiverse ever all that great?

That's a legitimate question. I had a couple bad experiences with some dumb trolls on it in the Wii U's first year and just kind of brushed it off as a result. Even in later years of the Wii U, I just never cared about giving it another shot.

So since I have practically nothing in terms of experience with it, I'm curious if it was actually good, or if was another example of the kinds of people that can make social media a migraine.
I’ve been playing video games for 27 years and despite how many times during those years that I’ve heard people complain about fetch quests, I still to this day don’t know what a fetch quest is.

What can I say? I just never cared about looking it up.
    Glubbfubb
    Glubbfubb
A fetch quest is a quest, sometimes mandatory, and sometimes optional that had you travel to one place to find an item and deliver it to another place, some people hate it becuase when done wrong you have to go on a wild goose chase to find the item and who to deliver it too
    Batkelley
    Batkelley
Some fetch quests aren't so bad, like something simple, such as:
"I'll need five gears to get this old machine running again. Could you find them for me?"
...Or they could be something much more tedious, like the following:
"In order to brew the potion of plot advancement, you'll have to bring me ten ultra rare purple flowers, fifteen annoyingly skittish frogs, and twenty stingers from unreasonably overpowered giant scorpions (which only have a 5% drop rate for some reason). Good luck with that."
With some of the stuff we’ve seen from Tears of the Kingdom. Like the new weapons for Riju, the Rito Champion being Tulin instead of Teba, and the new abilities with Links Arm, I have to wonder if Tears of the Kingdom will get its own Warriors game like Breath of the Wild did.

Not 100% sure it will but I can at least say the idea has potential.
Back when Tears of the Kingdom was first revealed, a number of people wondered if Zelda would be playable.

Which is a fine idea, do not get me wrong. But it's always good to keep an open mind about these sort of unconfirmed things.

Personally speaking, my mindset from day 1 was that a playable Zelda would be cool, but I was keeping in mind the possibility that she wouldn't be. And with all the stuff the trailers have revealed, I think it's a pretty safe bet that she will not be playable.

Not saying that's a for sure thing, again, open mind, but I doubt it will happen at this point.

And if there are any leaks out there that prove this theory right or wrong, please do not tell me.
