  • You end up getting stuck on an island for a really long time.

There is plenty of food on the island, no dangerous wildlife or anything of the sort that you’d have to worry about, and a tv as well as all the cords you’d need to hook up a game console and recharge its controllers. No internet though for obvious reasons.

If you could pick any 1 console (Console, not PC) to be the only one you’d have with you during your time on the island, with a substantially large amount of its game library available to you in both physical and digital, which one console would be your console of choice?
I'm sure you all have heard the meme of EA making a Mario game called Pay Per Mario.

But if this were to actually happen, would it bring peace to both sides of the Paper Mario fandom by giving them a common enemy to unite against?
I feel like sharing my thoughts on the Sonic Riders Games.

The Original: I am a fan of the Riders series, so I feel like it would be hard for me to not at least appreciate the game that established the formula. Fortunately I do more than just appreciate the game. It’s just straight up a game I like. I think it’s easy to get why. It’s a racing game where I enjoy the roster, courses, music, and racing mechanics. Pretty easy to figure out.

But one of the more obscure things about the game I find neat is how if it was actually the case that Shadow stayed dead after Sonic Adventure 2 like some people believe he should have then he could still be playable in this game since he’s not involved in the story. Neat little realization.

Zero Gravity: I mean, it’s certainly a Sonic Riders game. But I don’t think it’s as good as the first one.

A lot of the appealing aspects feel like a downgrade. The courses are more bland, the music isn’t as exciting, and even the racing itself feels a little too slow for my tastes.

It’s not a bad game and there are parts I like. The mission mode for example is pretty good. But Zero Gravity isn’t really my cup of tea overall.

Free Riders: First things first, I do not agree with the statements that the controls in this game don’t work. As someone who 100%’d the game, I know that they function.

The actual problem that comes from the Kinect is that it’s a very situational add-on in terms of if it can even be used. Given the movement required, especially for Free Riders, if you’re in a small room, a low-ceiling room, or a room that’s on a higher floor of an apartment complex, than you’re out of luck. You pretty much can’t use the Kinect at all in those situations.

But as big a weakness as the Kinect is for Free Riders, it’s pretty much the games only weakness.

It’s the most appealing game of the 3 to look at (obviously), it has the best courses and soundtrack out of each riders game, and while the roster lacks any cameos of other Sega characters, the roster is still pretty solid overall with a lot more of the characters being involved in the story this time.

If it had the option to use a regular controller, Free Riders would be the best riders game. I also think it’s the only riders game that got Super Sonic right.
Sometimes I think about what a kart racer from Konami that crosses over all their franchises would be like.

I think it’s a cool idea, but theirs one aspect I have trouble envisioning as appealing.

Cool as tracks from Castlevania and Metal Gear and such would be, those games are a little more on the dark and gritty side.

And as someone who’s more into the bright and colorful tracks that you’d find in something like Mario Kart or Sonic Riders, my limited knowledge of Konami franchises has me unable to think of a lot of games that could include those kinds of tracks.

Off the top of my head the only ones I can think of are Bomberman and Rocket Knight. And even then I’m totally clueless as to what specific tracks could be pulled from those games.

Anyone have any good ideas for this topic?
    Nintendo of Japan
    Nintendo of America
    Nintendo of Europe

For a very long time, people have talked about these three 3 divisions of Nintendo in ways that made it seem like they are the only 3.

In reality, there’s more. Such as the main division for this post, Nintendo of Canada.

How did I learn about them? Well back when Smash Ultimate was announced, but not released, there was this guy on the internet by the username of SpookyWoobler who was a huge Smash fan.

Unfortunately, and I mean VERY unfortunately, SpookyWoobler was fighting a very difficult battle with cancer. So difficult in fact, that by the time the E3 that had a demo of Ultimate came to an end, it had reached the point where it was a for sure thing that the Cancer was going to take his life. And according to the doctors, it would do so before Ultimate came out. Something SpookyWoobler was pretty bummed about.

So a bunch of his online friends were reaching out to people to help support their push to inform Nintendo of America in hopes that they could allow SpookyWoobler to play the game somehow before he passed away.

I forget if it was Nintendo of America themselves that pointed this out, or if it was one of the supporters who realized this, but reaching out to Nintendo of America wasn’t the correct approach because SpookyWoobler lived in Canada.

So the supporters started attempting to inform Nintendo of Canada instead. And thankfully, the message was heard.

Nintendo of Canada brought a copy of the E3 Demo to SpookyWooblers house, and he played it a bunch with friends and family and had a blast.

Which was a really cool thing of Nintendo of Canada to do.

Since the verdict was built on Microsoft putting Call of Duty on the Switch do you think they could be forced by law to put Call of Duty on Switch, if so would it even be good by Call of Duty standards

I don’t think the console it’s on affects a games quality. It’s the work the devs put into it that determines that.
Want to hear a dumb idea for an Echo Fighter?

Take Sage from Sonic Frontiers, have her use weird Cyberspace Magic or whatever the heck her abilities are in that game (haven't played Frontiers yet) to make herself as tall as Rosalina, and make Sage a Rosalina Echo who uses Chao instead of Luma's.
As someone who has a history of playing in Yu-gi-oh Tournaments, one of the more ironic aspects of the Yu-gi-oh 5D's Anime to me is the change in rules that comes from dueling on motorcycles.

Motorcycles are all about "vroom vroom, fast fast" and even in the 5D's anime they advertise the thrill of speed as an upside for Riding Duels.

However when in a Riding Duel, there's always a mandatory Field Spell that only allows Speed Spell Cards to be played, and depending on what Speed Spell you want to activate, you need the right amount of Speed Counters. Which is something that both players only get 1 of each turn.

So despite being played on speedy motorcycles, the core mechanic of a Riding Duel actually slows down the pace of the duel itself.
We all know this is impossible to make, but say there were actually a Smash Bros game that did include every possible video game character option that people have said or ever could say they wanted.

Would you even play this Smash Bros game?
I’ve seen people claim that Shigeru Miyamoto is past his prime while using the situations that led to games like Paper Mario Sticker Star and Star Fox Zero as points to back up their argument.

If I’m to be honest I do see the logic behind that. The part that causes me to wonder if this is truly the case is the fact that we’ve still been getting great Mario games like Mario Odyssey. And I feel like this aspect might be getting overlooked because Miyamoto’s involvement in those games isn’t as immediately obvious.

Granted that’s just something I wonder is the case or not. I myself don’t actually know what sort of involvement Miyamoto had in such games.
People are harping on Elemental a lot for not doing well at the box office and apparently this Ruby Gillman movie didn’t do too great in that regard either.

But like, given the influx of movie streaming and how many people skip out on going to the theaters nowadays in favor of waiting for the movie to come out on streaming platforms, is underperforming in theaters really that big a deal now?

Ngl, I wanted to see Ruby Gillman but today my cousine texted me saying that her husband and I fell asleep of boredom when they went to see It with their children.

I may still watch It at some point, but I gotta admit that kinda lowered my expectations for the movie.

Heard good things about Elemental doh, hopefully It does well enough on streaming.

On a part of a point made by Dukefire Dukefire , I do agree that the Covid pandemic had affected a lot of theatrical releases within that time (in addition to a number of films that were in production) that were either postponed for a year or sent to streaming.

Warner Bros decision to send most of their 2021 films to streaming (if that is correct) and former Disney CEO Bob Chapek's strategy of having a simultaneous release were not exactly wise decisions in my opinion.
Fun fact. Back when Death Battle Season 2 started, I was on a volunteer research team for the show. Seriously. Look at the credits of Episodes like He-Man vs Lion-O and you’ll see for yourself.

That volunteer research team was abolished a long time ago due to circumstances that never should have been as unfortunate as they were, buy I certainly appreciated being granted the volunteer status.

It was through that status that I learned about some neat little behind the scenes tidbits for Death Battle.

I would like to share them. But…..well……would NDA’s still apply if the volunteer research team no longer exists? Most of what I want to share does involve already released episodes, but there is one detail about an idea that has not been made into a Death Battle yet. And given how many years it’s been since this idea was talked about, I don’t know if it will.

    Even so……
I do believe it’s been made apparent that relevance at the right time does impact the dev team’s decisions in which characters join Smash.

That being said, I could easily believe that some people place too much importance on a character needing to be relevant to get in.
    A new Avatar Video Game

Not entirely sure what kind of game it's trying to be yet, but those character models and animations look like they need some work.

I like how the environments look though.

It's an (I think?) open world RPG with puzzle focus . This is published by gamemile who also put out NASB (though not the same dev) so I expect this to be a cheap budget title. I wouldn't expect the models to get any more work
I'm a little slow on realizing this since it's been known for a little bit now that Lego Sonic is in Sonic Superstars, but that fact technically means that if they wanted to, Sega could make a Sonic Generations 2 with 3 Sonics. Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Lego Sonic.
Why is it called Pineapple anyway?

You’re just putting the word Pine in front of the name of an already existing fruit. So what made them decide on an Apple?
Let’s say a Smash Bros. game were to be released where the soundtrack is entirely composed of remixes that are done by a single video game remixer on YouTube.

Which 1 YouTube remixer would you want it to be?

I think I’ll go with GaMetal.
This an artwork I commissioned the Deviantart user Sincity2100 for.

Anyone here who is a fan or has been a fan of Yu-gi-oh? Those familiar enough with the original series know about the Egyptian God Cards. Monsters which, within the game of Duel Monsters, have a monster type known as "Divine Beast".

And any Zelda fan who knows about Breath of the Wild is familiar with the term "Divine Beast". So this commission is the first out of a total of 3 I'm commissioning of Sincity that shows each Egyptian God Card as a Divine Beast, with their signature duelist as a Divine Beast Pilot.

This first one is for Osiris the Heaven Dragon (aka Slifer the Sky Dragon) with Atem as it's pilot.

Atem is dressed in the Desert Voe Outfit and is depicted here as a King of the Gerudo. His weapon is a Magic Staff from Tears of the Kingdom with an Amethyst fused to it to make it a staff of Dark Magic. Just like the good old Dark Magician.

I had a super weird dream about Smash Bros last night. So many weird things were happening that I couldn't even remember all of them when I woke up.

    But I do remember these:

The art style looked a lot like Super Mario Bros Wonder. But the way Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong were drawn did NOT look good.

Geno and Mallow were both playable as their own characters. And Geno had the ability to turn into a minecart.

Goku and Vegeta were playable. But their reveal trailer was done in a sprite based artstyle.

Naruto and Luffy were also playable.

Deku from My Hero Academia was playable too. But he was a Centaur.

Amaterasu from Okami was playable, but not by herself. She was part of an Ice Climbers style duo with Oki. Except Oki was named Frosterasu.

And I can't completely remember this last part, but the games name was something like "Super Smash Bros. Wii U Never Made".
I was not expecting a remake of Super Mario RPG but I'm glad we're getting one. A new game for Peach and the new 2D Mario Platformer are also welcome surprises.

Lots of other great stuff too. I like how the Star Ocean Remake looks and that RPG from Xseed about Wordless characters looks neat too.
The enemies in the original Donkey Kong Country and the main enemies of the overall DK series are the Kremlings.

The enemies in Donkey Kong Country Returns were the Tiki’s.

And the enemies in Tropical Freeze were the Snowmads.

Who should be the enemies in the next DKC game? A race with a leader smart enough to turn the entire banana horde into smoothies before the Kongs can get to them.
And the trend of me being stunned by the talents of voice actors continues.

I assume you all know what Ganondorf's voice sounds like in Tears of the Kingdom.

Well that same VA also provided the voices for Chrom in Fire Emblem, Lao in Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yusuke in Persona 5, Espio the freaking Chameleon in Mario and Sonic at the 2016 Olympics, and even Spyro the Dragon in Skylanders Imaginators.

    Mind. Is. Blown.
You know it's kind of funny. Despite how heavy Totk hints at LinkXZelda in a shipping sense, the game also provides a form of defense for pairings like LinkXMipha or LinkXRuto for Ocarina of Time.

One of the points people have made against such pairings is that they wouldn't work because it's a human and a fish. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that this is a point I used to use against those pairings once upon a time.

But considering Totk blatantly shows a marriage between a human and a zonai, and the zonai are goat-like people, there you go. Canonically such an argument against Link and the Zora girls does not work.
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
Why did people say that. Mipha and Link being fiances is literally a plot point in botw.

Speaking from experience, I used to have a bad habit of just automatically assuming that any Human/Non-Human relationship was beastiality. Maybe that was and/or is the case for others as well.

I have long since realized the problems with this mindset. Thank you Human/Alien relationships in Marvel stuff. And in DC stuff. And in Dragon Ball.
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
Janx_uwu Janx_uwu I'm pretty sure the implication for the Zora armor was that Mipha made it hoping to get married to Link one day, but was too shy to ever tell him her feelings. BotW/TotK love to tease shippers for some reason.

Still goes to show that zora x hylian relationships aren't unspeakable in the Zelda world.
This is purely a gut feeling without any actual evidence to back it up, so it could very well be entirely incorrect, but I get the impression that of the playable kongs aside from DK and Diddy in Donkey Kong 64, Chunky Kong is the least popular of the 3.

Which if that's true, it makes it all the more ironic that out of those 3 he's received the best treatment in side material. Sure a small, unvoiced cameo in the Mario Movie isn't much, but it's better than what the other two have gotten.

What has Tiny Kong gotten in side material? A playable role in a Diddy Kong Racing remake where she received a bad redesign.

What has Lanky Kong gotten in side material? Death.

No seriously. There's a manga of DK64 where Lanky Kong dies.
Since the next big Sonic game coming up is Superstars, which uses the classic designs of the characters, what do you think will happen with the next Sonic Twitter Takeover?
So out of curiosity I was looking into some details about a rumor I heard that Pokemon Scalret and Violet would run better on more powerful hardware.

I seem to have gotten "yes" as my answer but along the way I found an article claiming that opposite that also said that games like Xenoblade 3, Bayonetta 3, and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope also have performance issues like frame-rate dips and pop-ins.

Does anyone have anything to share about that? Because I'll be blunt with you, I don't buy it.
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
I don't know the specifics but think sometimes optimizing games to specific hardware can make them run better, and that one of the challenges of emulation programs is getting games to run properly. It's also part of the reasons some 3rd party games don't always go multiplat.

So hypothetically Scarlet/Violet have the potential to run better on strong hardware but it might take some tweaking.

All that aside a huge part of their performance issues also probably come from them being poorly optimized in general.
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
The game as a whole has a very rushed feel to it once you complete the main story. The game likely didn't have the dev time to optimize everything.

This post was asking about supposed performance issues of games like Xenoblade 3 and Bayonetta 3.
A couple of years before the kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night was revealed, Konami hit a massive decline.

Remember the fiasco with the Pachinko Machines an all the reports of bad treatment of their workers? I rest my case.

Bloodstained’s campaign started in 2015. And again, this decline started a couple years before that. So it’s been a decade since then.

Has Konami released a single really good game in that time? I legit do not know.
Two of the most classic and most popular moves in Pokémon are Thunderbolt and Thunder. Thundershock is pretty notable as well and Thunder Wave can be very reliable for catching wild Pokémon.

Given the pattern those names have of being “Thundersomething” I’m kind of surprised that we’ve never gotten a move called “Thunderstorm”.
Has it been long enough to where we don't need to be quite as cautious about spoilers for the Mario Movie and Tears of the Kingdom? I don't know just yet, so I'm going to ahead and mark this one as a spoiler.

Nintendo never makes MarioXPeach or LinkXZelda canon and I understand why at least to a degree. But the Mario Movie and Tears of the Kingdom did have me wondering if they were going to end up breaking this trend.

They didn't. And again, I kind of get why. Plus people who aren't really into shipping won't care anyway.

That being said, what do you guys think in terms of if Nintendo should just blatantly show a kiss or something every once in a while? Think it would be nice? Think they shouldn't? And how big a deal do you think it would be if the opposite of what you believe ends up happening?

Kissing is gross so no /j

Honestly on Mario/Peach's case I think a lot of it comes down to Mario games being goofy an largely targeted at young kids (even if tons of adults still play them), who aren't really all that really interested in romance. A passionate kiss scene between Mario and Peach would be...really jarring. Still it feels like the implication is that Mario/Peach are actually a think, they just play it really soft.

As with Link/Zelda there are some games where it feels like there's no real romance between them (OoT, TP, arguably WW), and some where there definitely is meant to be (SS, BotW). In those latter games it feels like they're deliberately playing on unresolved romantic tension because they know their largely teen and young adult fanbase go absolutely cuckoo for that.

The unresolved tension thing also applies to Mario/Peach, just to a softer extent because again, Mario is way more light hearted in tone.
Finally got to see the Mario Movie. Took me this long because I was waiting to see it with a friend.

Now apparently there's a divide when it comes to opinions about that movie. You do you, but for me, I thought it was really good. I'm glad I got to see it while it was still in theaters.
You know. I'm not going to lie. I initially thought that people would generally not like Street Fighter 6 because of being burned by how Street Fighter 5 was handled and how SF6 apparently did something similar to what Soul Calibur did with that Patrokolos guy. Which a number of fans didn't like.

That's what I thought would happen. But I'm glad to admit that it looks like I was wrong and that people are really enjoying the game.
