  • Mother Brain from Metroid would actually work kinda well as a fighter, if it was a downsized version of her Super Metroid form

I'm really starting to doubt if there's any fighters left who can't possibly be in Smash due to their proportions. Unless we're talking something that's planet-sized or doesn't have much of a form at all, it can get in.

Excellent timing! I recently finished Super Metroid. (Mother Brain was surprisingly less difficult than Ridley.) I can imagine her having very powerful projectiles that are very difficult to dodge. However, while she may not be too big any more, in my opinion, she may be... well, I shall say I lost my appetite! I think Kraid could be very interesting too.
The next Smash game should just have Marth, Robin and Byleth in terms of Fire Emblem characters. Maybe Lucina since she’s an easy echo
This is how I would rank the series in Smash, from favorite to least favorite:
    • Mario
    • Donkey Kong
    • Metal Gear

    • Final Fantasy
    • Zelda
    • Persona
    • Fire Emblem
    • Sonic
    • Castlevania
    • Earthbound
    • Minecraft
    • Metroid
    • Punch-Out!!
    • Wario Land/Ware
    • Kid Icarus
    • Pac-Man
    • Mega Man
    • Xenoblade
    • Fatal Fury
    • Dr. Mario
    • Animal Crossing
    • Pokémon
    • F-Zero
    • Arms
    • Duck Hunt
    • Yoshi’s Island
    • Star Fox
    • Kirby
    • Ice Climber
    • Game & Watch

Haven’t played: Splatoon, Bayonetta, Banjo-Kazooie, ROB, Pikmin
(Dragon Quest isn’t on here because I’ve only played the original NES version and it would be really unfair to judge the series on just that)
These games are a staple of the “PS2 Games under a glass display case that are for some reason like 200 dollars” section at every retro games store I’ve been to:

Remember when Brawl just casually implied Luigi was affiliated with an evil shadow organization that secretly controlls the US government?

It was a somber period for Luigi. He dabbled into the dark arts for his FS, back then.

According to SmashWiki, also spoilers for MGS2:

Note: The "La li lu le lo" is a nickname for an anonymous group in the Metal Gear series only known by their codename, "The Patriots". The Colonel's speech during this codec call is a direct reference to an event in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, when the main character (Raiden) realizes that the Colonel that he had been taking orders from for the whole mission was just an artificial-intelligence look-alike of the real Colonel Campbell that Snake took orders from, in the first Metal Gear Solid. During the final parts of the game, the AI Colonel goes haywire and begins to utter disturbing statements (i.e. "Raiden, turn the game console off right now!" and "Honestly, though, you have played the game for a long time. Don't you have anything else to do with your time?"). Another thing to note is how in Metal Gear Solid 4, soldiers and PMCs who are under the use of nanomachines cannot simply call The Patriots by name — their nanomachines force them to refer to the Patriots as "La li lu le lo" (which, in Japanese — note the vowel order — reinforces the anonymity of the group, since the conventional "L" sound does not exist in the language, thus coming off as senseless gibberish). This line is one of the strange phrases that the AI Colonel says to Raiden, which is also directly referenced in this conversation.

This conversation is also a subtle reference to the relationship of Solid Snake and his brother, Liquid Snake in MGS1. Liquid Snake lived under the shadow of Solid Snake, which contributed to the former's megalomaniacal nature. As well, it references the inferiority complex Luigi is assumed to harbor towards his brother Mario (much like the one Liquid Snake felt towards Solid Snake), as well as the condescending attitude the AI Colonel showed towards Raiden in MGS2. Finally, Snake's last line is actually a reversal and parody of his "Game Over" line ("Snake? Snake?! SNAAAAAAAKE!") from the Metal Gear Solid series.

Metal Gear Rising Revengence really should have just said “cultural ideas” or something. I can’t take any of it seriously when people are using the word meme like this...
    Doctor Bob or Doctor Pete?

“It’s dumb how Friday Night Funkin got popular! The gameplay is just pressing the same four buttons!”

yeah well last time I checked an original and unique artstyle, good music, interesting characters, and having a good modding scene can make a game better, you’re really complaining for nothing
It’s funny how the Nintendo Direct was all like “Hey look guys! Aliens! So weird! This is weird now! Aliens are weird! WEIRD!” when talking about No More Heroes III. Especially because they’re not that big a departure from the series, making this almost exactly a Crash Team Racing situation
I was laughing at the “Texans when a single snowflake hits the ground” memes until I quickly realized the situation was way worse than that
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
That’s not to mention that Texas gets an inch of snow per year, if they’re lucky. So the truck drivers probably have little to no experience driving on icy roads.

My late grandpa use to work for a chemical company when he was alive and he would drive around in a 18 wheeler carrying those chemicals. He use to drive around the country and sometimes drive almost 2000 miles a day. I'm sure he knew how to drive through thick and deep snow since he's driven to the upper states plenty of times.

Those memes are still funny to those of us who live in areas with heavy snowfall and the power going out not being that uncommon, but the current situation really sucks. They are usually meant to poke fun at large metropolitan or southern areas that shutdown over a couple inches of snow and not for freak weather.
It bugs me when collections include Super Street Fighter II but not the first version of SF2. Sure, it’s got more characters but it’s a lot harder and pretty frustrating if you’ve never played any Street Fighter games. Lots of people might get those collections, play Super Street Fighter, and hate it. I know if I started with Super, I would have hated the series and probably wouldn’t have tried many fighting games
I hate it when someone’s legitimately criticizing Trump and someone responds with “All you’re saying is orange man bad!” Saying “orange man bad” would be something like making fun of his face or hands or something. Actually criticizing his awful decisions and personality is saying more than just “orange man bad”
    L
    link2702
unfortunately the diehard trump supporters will absolutely refuse to listen to any sort of real criticism of him(which there is a lot of). It's not at all an exaggeration to say that it's become a cult. A very dangerous one at that as we saw in January.

    StoicPhantom
The proper way to use "orange man bad" is when people (usually liberals) throw out all logic or reasoning to oppose Trump for the sake of it, regardless of how stupid, hypocritical, or immoral it is. A recent example would be the overwhelming liberal support for the cabal of neocon ghouls know as The Lincoln Project. Even before the recent scandals supporting a cabal of grifters and war criminals was not a good look. Or you could look at the support someone like Michael Bloomberg got in the primaries for being "More Trump than Trump" for probably the best example so far. When you are so far into TDS hysteria that you support someone on the basis that they are a more successful version of whom you supposedly oppose as a way of trying to dunk on them, then "Orange Man Bad" is what is used.

But as is always the case the proper use of these words get lost and people just use it as yet another buzzword.
I can’t wait to not buy the Age of Calamity DLC

I haven't even made it past a couple hours of the main game. Definitely thinking that Musou games aren't my cup of tea.

I may just buy the Age Of Calamity DLC just so I can play as Puhra.

She was my most wanted character for the game.
Fortnite will not stop until it crosses over with every series ever
As bad as Pyra and Mythra’s character designs are, let’s be glad it’s not this:

Not really. Your point is just nonsense and you're just bringing up even more examples that don't help your case.

You were arguing over the spine. The neck is part of the spine. You'd think someone going on about anatomy would value that.

You're the one that took this topic seriously enough to write huge essays.

I find it funny when people say they were gonna leave an argument and then keep replying anyway. Happens all the time.

I'm done replying seriously, yes. Hence the flippant tone and significantly lower word count. It happens when people start being dishonest and deliberately misconstruing my posts.

You were arguing over the spine. The neck is part of the spine. You'd think someone going on about anatomy would value that.
I knew exactly what you were doing and I'm glad you admit that is what you were doing. My original post was referring to the lower back and hips, my subsequent posts were still talking about the lower back and hips, and the entire context of this conversation was about the lower back and hips. You have been bringing up entirely unrelated body parts, in completely unrelated contexts, that aren't even anatomically incorrect. Something you'd know if you weren't in completely over your head.

Now you post Senjo doing one of the tamest head tilts in the series as some sort of "gotcha" even though the neck is completely unrelated to anything I was talking about (and is still flexible enough to do that). The head tilt I showed you was Shaft making fun of themselves (an in-joke) with a non-human character in the first place. Which wouldn't have been relevant to what I was talking about because I was talking about serious designs not deliberate jokes. The fact that I even have to write "huge essays" is because you seem to be completely incapable of understanding context or have any knowledge of the subject in the first place.

I only even bothered replying again to make sure anyone still reading this dumbass conversation knows exactly what you are doing. It really grinds my gears when people ignore the effort I put in making my posts understandable to misrepresent them so they can win some imaginary argument they made up. I didn't intend for this to go this far, but as per usual you butted into something you didn't understand and are now doubling-down on it instead of apologizing and bowing out gracefully. I don't know why you are so hung up on this random picture, but being dishonest and deliberately ignoring the context of what I said is weaselly, pathetic, and embarrassing.

But now that you admit that you are deliberately taking things out of context to "win" an "argument" I think I can now stop replying seriously or not. I'm not going to waste my time on someone that is deliberating misrepresenting what I said and attempting to go on tangents to discredit the main point.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
No it is not flexible enough to do that.
You'll break your neck if you try that. I would think someone going on about claiming similar things would know that.

What I'm doing is trivializing what you say because I think what you're saying is trivial amd silly.

Not really cuz it complies with the context over anatomy and spines.

I already discredited your main point cuz I can do poses like that on the lower back myself, so it just seems silly to go on about.
Is it just me or does Xenoblade X seem way more interesting than Xenoblade 2? Xenoblade 2’s world seems alright, but Xenoblade X looks cool. From what I can see, it’s similar to Xenoblade 1’s world, but now it’s got like, futuristic cars and cities and stuff. It just looks fun.

This isn’t me saying Elma should have been in Smash, because I probably would have been dissapointed by that, but I’m just saying Xenoblade X actually looks like it’s doing something interesting
Sonic fans: NOOO! SONIC IN SMASH SUCKS! SAKURAI NEEDS TO CHANGE IT!

Earthbound fans: perfectly content with the fact that Ness has a bunch of PSI he can’t even use in his game and that they look nothing like his original game
I had wanted to start playing Persona 4 today, but I haven’t because I was super paranoid that I would be stuck at a part I can’t save at when the direct started. That was a really dumb idea and I got pretty much nothing done today because I was anticipating a Nintendo direct that was slightly disappointing
I hate it when I wanna recommend a series to a friend, but it’s extremely hard to do so.

For example, I wanna reccomend the Metal Gear Solid series but it’s pretty hard since the only way to really start is with either an emulator or the consoles of the last generation (PS3 and 360).

anyways im trying to figure out a non-passive aggressive way of explaining that it’s really stupid to not want to emulate a game you’re interested in that’s over 20 years old and not available on current hardware

I started emulating games last month and now I can't stop.
Like, if I hadn't started emulating I would've never gotten to play Wario World or Shadow The Hedgehog, two of my now-favorite games (for extremely different reasons).
But if it's ported on Switch I usually just save up to get it.
Look you might not want to hear this but...

You have no reason to believe Nintendo would pick someone super exciting and hype for the last DLC spot

A firendly reminder that it was possible that the DLC for this game could've ended with Byleth if Sakurai decided to end the DLC there.

    Just remember this

    Brawl final newcomer: Edgy Fox
3DS final reveal: Dopey dog from old game used for 80s references in bad sitcoms.
3DS/Wii U final DLC: Butt lady
Ultimate final reveal: Pokemon that isn't even popular among fans of its generation.

Keep in mind, I like Duck Hunt and Incineroar, and I don't mind Wolf either, but there's no way we're gonna get a Mr. G&W-tier "building up to this" final reveal again.
