    I have a theory that the “are you still watching” thing netflix does is so that you’ll be slightly annoyed and want to talk about it with other people, thus giving netlix more publicity. Since something so trivial wouldn’t be a deal breaker for most, some people might actually want to try netlix because everyone’s talking about it.

    also if you really were in another room or something and accidentally left it on, wouldn’t that message make the situation a lot worse because it might burn into your TV screen?

    Oh my god the marvel what if zombies episode was really disappointing.

    The pace was just bad and shows how the one episode format isn't really working for the series. We barely get any time to be with these new versions of the characters and we barely know what the world is like, and what people truly think about it.

    Speaking of the characters, they're just really obnoxious in this episode, especially ant-man and spider-man, dear god I hope they never use those versions of the characters. Antman is so unbelievably unfunny here and spider-man's voice could have worked but since it sounds so different it just doesn't work. Not to mention characters look pretty different to their designs in the movies and so sometimes it was even a bit hard to reconize them. T'challa's voice was pretty good though so it's good that boseman's final(?) performance wasn't something too bad.

    Also, it's really weird that all these characters just work together so easily. They're all so different personality-wise and from such different parts of the MCU. Plus some of them haven't even met each other before! You're telling me there wouldn't be some kind of disagreement or disconnect between them all?

    It was all just so rushed and I wish it wasn't done like this. It's also really weird how it's kind of short compared to the other episodes.

    If I had a nickel for every alternate universe where the Avengers were all killed in record time by Hank Pym, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice.

    TBH, What If? should be an hour at least, but it can work within the 30 minute time limit. Just look at episodes 2 and 4-they're not perfect and the pacing is still very off compared to your average MCU film, but they hit a lot of the right notes and compact an enjoyable non-canon MCU story into a half hour. Then you look at Zombies and clearly, the idea was too big for the time limit.
    I also wholly agree about Peter-he was probably my least favorite part of this last one. The MCU Peter I know wouldn't be this shining beacon of hope, smiling and being optimistic after the quick succession of deaths from his role models and friends-he would probably go into a panic attack that one of the other Avengers would have to help him out of, or he'd at least be thrown off in combat due to his sadness. He's a very competent superhero, but we have to remember that he's still a teenager.
    Also, can I just say how cringy the Wanda zombie being protected by Vision plotline was? "Guy killing innocents in the name of/to save someone he loves a lot" has been a weirdly common trope in the series so far and it was done worst here.
    Your enjoyment of What If? depends solely on your outlook of the series. If you see it as a non-canon official spinoff series with endless possibilities for storytelling given how strict Disney usually is with Marvel story stuff, then yeah, you probably won't get much out of it. But if you just see it as 30 minutes of dumb animated Marvel fun, then you'll probably like it quite a bit. But even as someone who mostly associates with the latter, I really hated this episode.

    Yeah I really hate that "killing innocents to save someone you love" trope too, and I can't believe how overdone it is in the MCU. Especially because the people who do it aren't really portrayed as that bad or villainous (if that makes sense) and kind of get away with a lot of crimes that are just as bad, if not worse as things the other, more selfish villains do. Obviously their actions are portrayed as bad, and I'm not saying the marvel writers think crimes are OK if it's for a loved one, but seeing things like scarlet witch kidnapping hundreds of people and basically using child soldiers, only for her to be portrayed as being on the wrong path but with good intentions just makes me uncomfortable and has some pretty unfortunate unintended implications.

    I’m in favor of mario kart getting obscure mario characters but I don’t think it should just randomly make half the next game’s roster obscure characters from RPG’s or something like some people think

    I feel like the crowd cheer in smash bros is a weird relic of the times when the series’s aesthetic was kind of inspired by wrestling and more creative

    The announcer is a really weird relic too - in Smash 64 he was like an overenthusiastic wrestling announcer, in Melee he was more calm to fit the sci-fi Y2K aesthetic, then Brawl went all "epic gladiator" and he got echo-ier and more aggressive to match with a bit of a slight "old man" sound, 3DS/Wii U swapped to a more vibrant albeit subtle pop-art/comic book style and although Xander toned down his performance into a somewhat friendlier and more enthusiastic voice with a bit of humour thrown in, it really starts to seem like they're going with epic deep male voices for the sake of tradition and not to compliment the aesthetic - not helped when SSBU went for an aesthetic leaning more towards "Chromebook advert"

    Smash UI and theming, in general, is an aesthetic mess. I guess they spend so much time making sure all these contrasting characters fit together that they forget to mix a good cement to hold the spotless bricks.

    It kind of annoys me when people’s fan theories are entirely dependent on genetics. AHEM matpat AHEM. Like if genetics and punnet squares support your theory then it’s good to bring them up but using them as a sole reason to believe “[character] is actually [character]’s dad!” with literally no other evidence, then it’s a bad theory. You do realize it is physically possible for recessive genes to be added to a child right?

    so when a certain youtuber’s certain infamous theory about a certain plumber and a certain space princess makes a really outrageous claim that would completely change the entire series (luigi being in love with peach) and the only evidence they have is “it’s technically more likely to happen genetically” it’s a terrible theory

    My list of “characters a lot of people want in smash but I really don’t” is something like this:
    Porky, Masked Man, Pyramid Head, Bandana Dee and Toad. (there are probably more as well.)

    The first three are because of tonal issues and the last two are because they feel like boring and uninteresting characters when there are so many other good picks for characters from their series that would represent them better.

    I agree on Porky, Masked Man, Bandee, and Toad. Some of my personal LWs are:
    1. Shadow (I'd love a second Sonic rep, but not one who is synonymous with, and to some is even believed to have directly caused, the series' downfall.)
    2. Geno (He's a bland character who doesn't bring much unique to the table, even when compared to his co-star Mallow or other Mario one-offs like Tatanga, Vivian, Lanky, and Stanley)
    3. Sans (I'm not an Undertale fan, but surely the character who only fights in the storyline you're discouraged from playing isn't the best way to represent it?)
    4. Meowth (Same reason as your Toad reasoning)
    5. 9-Volt (Retro Nintendo stuff deserves better than to be compisited into a single fighter)
    I don't know enough about Pyramid Head to say for real, but what you said about him before has certainly made me a little more cautious about him. There's also a unique case for Krystal, who I think could have a killer moveset but I'd rather not have if they used her Adventures design - which they likely would judging by the AT

    Another character who I want as far away from Smash as possible: Klonoa. DK cargo into Byleth Up B sounds absolutely petrifying - and that's his main ability.

    I like the idea of Porky just for his gameplay style...but I totally understand why people would be against him.
    There aren't too many characters I'd really not like to see, but I at least agree with Wario3 on preferring someone other than Shadow, Geno, and Sans for those games.

    My headphones broke so today I watched a youtube video with auto generated captions on… then I realized youtube censors swears when it’s in autogenerated captions. That’s really stupid, if you have no rules against swearing why censor it then? Plus if I was a deaf person I would feel very patronized by something like that

    Adding all four ninja turtles to nick all star brawl would be very uninteresting to me. Just because they’re the main characters doesn’t mean adding all four would represent the series best.

    As an example, imagine if soul calibur 4 added luke skywalker and han solo as guest characters instead of darth vader and yoda. It would be a lot less interesting right?

    I’m not really a fan of rayquaza returning as a boss. I think for a pokemon boss we should get someone like giovanni with him sending out all of his pokemon individually

    I don’t get why people get angry when crossovers add non-main characters or characters that aren’t as “important” in the context of the story. I think crossovers don’t add enough of those characters and, in a very few situations, this goes for smash as well.

    Okay I'm sorry, the idea that white kids aren't "allowed" to dress as black panther for halloween or something is cringe. It's just stupid. If black panther's suit was pretty much just an african cultural outfit then we can have a conversation but there's nothing problematic about a kid wearing a costume of a black superhero they look up to. I know his suit likely has inspiration from african cultures, but I don't think that makes it bad.

    Even as someone who likes Tekken a lot, I'm not sure Kazuya was that good a good choice for the final DLC character. I know this may sound weird, but the fact that heihachi is a mii costume really lessened the impact of the reveal, and it didn't feel as special as getting a new series would. He was, of course, deserving enough though

    So apparently characters won’t have side specials in nick all star brawl? To me that kind of comes across as making the game less fun/deep just to avoid a small resemblance to smash bros, but we haven’t really gotten any more reveals related to gameplay so it’s a bit too early to tell. I understand why they did it tho.

    Strongs are seperate and air grabs are a thing - so even with no fairs; bairs; smash attacks (in the traditional sense); or side specials there'll be about as many moves if not more than an average Smash character provides.

    They probably get to save a ton of programming/animation/balancing resources that way.

    As for how they plan to make up for the loss of depth, maybe they plan on making up for it through the game's universal movement options? I heard the game has universal 8-direction air dashing, which could be interesting when platform fighters are so movement-focused.

    The whole “it’s okay for disney to charge 30 dollars for random movies on disney+ because that’s what movie theaters charge” thing is such a bootlicker take it’s not even funny. I hate that idea so much.

    If they set an assassins creed game in Japan they should set it in the meiji era and focus on the technology and rapid industrialization of the country to set it apart from the many other games that have a fairly open world and use historical japan as a setting. You could argue that would make it too similar to syndicate but I heavily disagree given the huge difference in cultures.

    It kind of annoys me when people get mad that super monkey ball banana mania only has a few sega guest characters. You can absolutely wish there were more, I think that would be cool too, but you were never promised a huge definitive sega crossover game and so it’s weird to get angry when you don’t get one.

    Plus, some of the non-sega guest characters are actually pretty cool and fit into the game quite well

    The Nick Brawl fandom is actually having a similar entitlement issue - fans, especially those who grew up on the Nicktoons Unite series, think Jimmy Neutron and Timmy Turner are absolute locks and are getting pretty emotional about their increasingly likely absence.

    I mean, I can understand what it's like seeing a character you saw as a face of their brand when you were in its demographic slowly get shafted, (I am a Daisy fan after all) but there are people acting like the game will be Literally Unplayable™ without Turner and Nutrin in it.

    I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say they're young and don't understand the corporate BTS stuff (especially for Timmy), but Jimmy Neutron's movie came out in 2001 and the show ended in 2006 - if you were in Jimmy's minimum target demo when the show ended you'd be 21, and you'd have to be 26 today if we're going off when he debuted, that's long past the age where a crossover game snub should make you have a fit or start pushing hashtags.
