Yeah, that's still not socialist. In fact, that's exactly how insurance works, even in a capitalist system. The healthy people end up paying for the sick people, and they get profits off the left overs. You are forced to pay large sums of money to support people you do not want to support.
Now let me ask you something, all of you.
Let me ask you, how is this not already happening? What do you think taxes do? Taxes are you paying for systems that you may or may not use to provide for the entire population. Even more, you fail to recognize the bigger issue here. When someone who doesn't have health insurance comes into the hospital, where do they go? The emergency room, as by the oath they take, the doctor must help them, even when they can not pay. Where do you think that money goes? Do you think that the person just walks out, and all that equipment that was used on him just happens to be magically payed for? No, YOU pay for it. It comes up in your bill. So, you are going to be paying for their medical treatment one way or another. In fact, you already are.Do you like the idea that all of this money, these billions of dollars are going to be coming from you and the rest of the populace?

No, its not unconstitutional. That is why it is unconstitutional and that is why like 13 states are banning this in their state.
We are required to buy car insurance, are we not? Now, before you say "that's a choice," no, no it isn't. Transportation is NOT a choice in America, not at all, nor more than breathing is. Its a required item to live and function within our society. Its not at all an option, unless you live in a few select cities like New York. For 90 percent of America, this is NOT an option.
Furthermore, the federal government does have the right to do this, based on the enumerated powers clause, which grants the federal government the right to control anything within the realms of our commerce. Health care takes up a huge portion of our national GDP, more than enough for it to fall in the lines of the enumerated power clause.
As to dispell those claiming it as unconstitional, the state where I live, one of the states filing for this suit, requires that each year you must purchase a car inspection this state requires you to get a yearly checkup on your automobile. Its funny, because the members said in a quote "Never in the history of this country has the government demanded the purchase of a good or service"
Now, in the debate hall, though I didn't properly respond, Jam excused this since they were done by the state. No, that's not true at all. The states must follow under all guidelines set by the constitution, as well as those set by the federal governments, thus putting them under even more regulation than the federal government.
On top of down sizing companies AND outrageous taxes, no one will be able to pay and live at the same time. If you do not pay, it is jail for you.
What are you talking about? This is hardly a depression at all. And i'd also like to point out that it was LACK of government intervention that put us here in the first place.Where does this put? The second Great Depression.
We are living it.
However, if you look at consumer spending habits over the last 30 years, compared to current spending habits, you see that the States were in truth nothing more than an economy propelled by consumer debt. Each year, the average house hold was spending more than they made on commodities, TVs, cars, things that were bringing no potential of future income into their house hold, and were only racking up debt based on the idea of the continued progress of the States, and the potential of their own income increasing with it. This isn't a depression, it isn't a true recession, its a return to healthy, normal spending habbits, and until companies stop overworking their current employees and filing large amounts of overtime, and until people stop saving for fear of the worst, things aren't going to improve, unless Americans get stupid again and start taking out loans to buy cars and tvs.
Also, what Ophry fails to recognize and point out is that the price of health insurance is dropping, and much of the money you will spend on health care you will get back on your tax returns as health insurance now becomes a big deductible, for both companies and individuals who chose to purchase it for themselves.
