That was until Illmatic made a last minute impression and that's what this tier list is all about honestly

I think Peach stayed the same or went down a little, but since I felt some people above her went down even more, that ended up with her still pretty high on my list.

The removal of MK will create much needed diversity in tournament results, causing an extreme change in the tier list. Many notable mid and low tiers suffer because of MK. (Namely ROB)

I'm sure you'll be surprised at what you see.
Well the question is how long will it take things to stabilize again. You will probably have some B.S characters winning many smaller local tournaments at first giving the scene a bad forecast what is to come.

Sad to see that Kirby went down, but it's expected. MK ***** him and there really hasn't been much established in the Kirby metagame to do anything against other top tiers because MK ***** him.

I mean, I still think he's good, but where he is right now is fine.

It could take a while to stabilize. Really no one would know for sure unless it was tested it out extensively. M2K would probably still be boss without MK (from what I can tell, the best of the best can play quite a few characters competitive), but I got a feeling a lot of the lower placing MK players would suck without their top tier character. It could also effect the tiers.

Imagine a tier with and without MK. Many characters could go up or down based on who would be the new top dog (or top dogs) alone. If some low tier character were to counter the best character, that alone would probably boost them way up on the tiers.

As for the tiers, not surprised ZSS is rising. I also lol at how Toon Link and Meta Knight never seem to move!

Yoshi: Some people wanted PT in low tier, but they were not enough to get him into low tier. No one thought Yoshi was low tier anymore.

I'd be interested to see why Pokemon Trainer is still in mid tier. I think he is significantly worse than Yoshi, he has worse matchups across the entire cast and ESPECIALLY the upper tiers.

Pretty sure Squirtle does worse than Yoshi in quite a few matchups. Even in that first 60ish seconds he is decent in. The other 2 do worse in almost every matchup. Yoshi actually has a camp game, weight, a nice chaingrab and he doesn't become worse at killing after 70 seconds.

Tbh though, I think Yoshi belongs above Ness and PT isn't that much worse than Ness.

Introduction
------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Brawl Back Room's sixth release of its tier list. Unlike the past six month release schedule, this list has come [just over] nine months since version five; we feel that the game has reached a certain level of maturity that does not require as frequent updates - this period of time may be lengthened for subsequent releases.
Also unlike our last release, the BBR has 'split' from rule set creation - and with the unity rule set becoming a growing standard voters were requested to take the unity rule set into account. However, as always, votes placed were based on their own opinion.

Character specific comments will be added within the next few days

Hey Big D, I see you're posting that video all over the place now haha :awesome:

It only works on a missed tech animation trip, right? Like where they have a forced get-up? In this case, it would be the equivalent of a jab lock or MKs d-tilt infinite. It doesn't work on a regular trip, though?

No, it's really easy to set up though and now that I discovered that you can just jump instead of timing a soft glidetoss, this tech is much, much, MUCH easier. (I even did it to JM a couple times)

You can set it up the way I did in the video, I know it's guaranteed on a lot of characters, like Snake and Falco. I don't know if it 's guaranteed on Meta Knight but it seems like it. (CPUs is all I got right now)

Or, you need to footstool or hit them in a missed tech animation. Ftrhow glidetoss is good for that.

With a little practice it becomes pretty easy.

The dtilt infinite is harder to do.

And yes, I am posting it everywhere because I don't know where to post it. Better safe than sorry.

Ties aren't needed since there's never really a moment in a metagame when two characters are exactly alike and need to be tied.

Like metaknight and another metaknight or something.

In my opinion, I think Bowser should be in Hyrule++ Tier because he seems to have more worse matchups and more severe weaknesses than Samus and Falcon.

Bowser may be worse than Samus but he isn't worse than Falcon. Falcon doesn't have any moves that are as good as Klaw or Fortress. Falcon's jab is overrated, it has so little range and Falcon's Uair only ***** if you're in the air.

Because the character is good enough for it, and everyone using him is bad at it. I am no exception; I'm just less bad than everyone else.

Your opinion > our opinion, I guess.
not what i was implying. but there really aren't that many +2 or more movements that arent obvious... and in the top tiers... +1 is a big deal. I know I'm not the only one scratching my head about marth. I also know of people putting him at 3rd... what kind of reasoning puts him above diddy or snake?

You'd have to ask those people.
I don't believe any person voted marth above diddy.
now that I look at it, diddy was never voted below 3rd... so only snake... who was voted as low as 6th... WTF? >.>

voters should have to justify the positions of characters on their lists when they move characters great distances... just so people know why they did what they did.

Heeelllloooowwww yyyeeelllloooowwww!!!!!!

I've been thinking lately. Like, shouldn't alllllllll tier lists be based off of match-ups?

See, it's super easy in traditional fighters like Street d00ds or Blazd00d because there's only the characters. The stages are just graphics.

But Smash is more complicated because of the stages.

Like, couldn't you add up all the numbers from a ginormous match-up chart that involves stage AND characters and highest point totals are top and so on until you get to Ganon tier.

Butttttttt uh yeah.

Also what do you gaiz think is the worst ditto/mirror in the game?

I'm thinking Olimar because it looks SO. RANDOM.
But also Meatknight because it looks so hard to press an advantage. Just poke poke poke and EVENTUALLY someone will die.
Also Ice Climbers seem super d00per random so I'd say Ice Climbers are pretty kinda somewhat heavily disadvantaged against themselves.
Merry-O I'd say is pretty 50-50ish because all you have to do is space your 5B. Whoops I meant F-Tilt.
