Legit set with;
-Will who is arguably the best DK (only other close I can think of is cable?)
-Ninjalink who speaks for himself.
-Kirinblaze who is known to have a great link.
-Prawn. Dunno how much this really counts for, but he won vs ICs who was ranked...so yea.

And he looks like ganon in every pic I've seen of him. I honestly don't see how Ray is being compared......

The debate seems pretty similar to Me vs Deva. I was in the same boat as kalm, I wasnt active because I live in the midwest and i gotta travel like 6 hours to go to a 30 man tourney with mediocre competition while he was in WA playing top players. The only difference is I didnt claim to be the best until I got out there and started doing the work (I also knew no one would let me because of regional bias). So I said **** it, I know im the best so I just need to prove it. I started traveling and Taking sets off known players, Doing work in crew battles, and showing the world what I can do while also being more active then the other guy. In this case Kalm is me, except he isnt putting in half the work but trying to claim a title he hasnt fought to hold on to. Its not your fault you're in a less active region, but if you dont have the funds/motivation to go do something about it then step down for awhile and give credit to the guy that is putting in the work.

Alright, Kalm and I spoke in the Xat. Here's a summation of what we discussed.

Kalm feels the thread is biased towards me in regards to the fact that I am in a more active region with tougher competition. So he feels voting is an improper way to go about things. I can understand where he's coming from.

His proposed method is strictly by tournament results. This, however, is problematic as well. Due to regional discrepancies and seeding, one of us placing higher than the other (unless it's by a dramatic amount, dramatic being an entire bracket level, so 3-4 places or higher) may not be an accurate way to judge things. In this regard, I think placing as well as players fought should be taken into account. Because if a person places high, but got an easy bracket, this doesn't accurately reflect on them, I feel.

Right now, I still think all things should be taken into consideration. I say what I am about to in completel humility, as I do not want to be mistaken as being conceited, so make note of that. Right now, it is Kalm's responsibility to do work and make the effort. Stating only facts, so nobody thinks I am attacking or demeaning them. Kalm was gone for several months. His last full-Ganon tournament was more than 7 months ago. He has not listed any notable achievements as of yet.

In my eyes, I'm being more than fair with the representing I've done and effort I've put forth to not just be an *** and take the spot. Kalm, with your 7-month inactivity, at least, as far as full Ganon goes, I think it's only fair that you either start doing heavy work or concede to the terms of the OP and allow the process to go through by vote. Like I said, this is just me stating how I see things. I implore the people reading this not to get all butthurt and aggressive.

Guys, you do realize that no competition, unless it's a joke one, lasts for a couple of days. Every board that elects a "top" user has a panel that debates it. I asked several other boards what their process was and, well, this was pretty much what their system was. Plus, we're in an awkward situation as well, with the only person who wants to contend for the spot was missing for quite a while. D:

Being totally honest, our system is only somewhat sloppy because we have no panelists due to the lack of competitive offline Ganons, so the competition is left in the hands of a few groups of people. Without competitive (active) players, no one really cares about striving to become better or "the best". This leads to an apathy towards the importance of having a hierarchy in a competitive setting. Very few character boards elect a top player by some astoundingly mindblowing accomplishment that sends them miles above the rest. So saying postpone the KoE election until some miraculous upset occurs is like waiting for it to rain. It's not going to happen if you're just waiting. It is usually by the little things that top players are sequestered.

Unfortunately, only around 10% of this board has extensive tournament/offline experience. This makes running any competition of this nature very difficult. But to restate my point, for those who are offline competitors, this competition is a worthwhile pursuit, because it gives them something to strive for and measure their progress. I'd elect for a panel to be made to elect a King of Evil, but the only tournament-experienced Ganondorfs that regularly attend these boards are DLA, Kalm, Tero, Bahamut, Doomfire (as far as I know) and myself. We have very good Ganons that aren't offline, such as Z1g and Tonsana, but I'm not sure if they'd feel comfortable being in such a panel.

So, in short, this competition may seem "silly" to those who feel they are not eligible, therefore find it a waste of time. While this is understandable, it isn't a waste of time for those who really do strive to be the best they can be. Hell yes, this is all in good fun, and it should remain that way, regardless of who seizes victory. But it also shouldn't be treated as some fling of a joke, either. People should be having FUN with this. Not dread it. >:p

Sorry for the text walls, by the way. There's just so much to cover. xD

as a ganon noob I cannot adequately say who has a better technique from watching videos alone. What I can say is is that verm has objectively better tournament results and against good players. I must vote for Verm as best Ganon on the basis that any other player currently does not have the same amount of objective accomplishments

True. I'm not a true offline-player (at least not yet).

However, I do not consider myself as a "online-player".
I refuse to play matches with a noticable delay.
Only matches with around 7 frames of maximum lag for me.

Works great since the buffering-window is like 10 frames.
So your buffering doesn't get screwed at all.
The only thing that gets harder is Power Shielding.

I'm horrible in heavy delay. Can't do shiit.

Might sound silly to most, but it's the truth.

Thanks, TKONTK. But I just need the solid confirmation from said majority so people don't grieve over an oversight of some sort. What makes this tough is those who are not participating or complaining about it. Makes it difficult to achieve closure on the subject due to unsurity of their opinions/

Because Ganondorf is the real king of evil.
You are like Zant. You get the power from Ganondorf, but maybe, maybe hes just using you.
Well find out eventually.....

Dunno how to explain it, lol :p
I think everyone's placing too much emphasis on the actual title rather than the concept behind the title. This whole process is just to determine who's on top of Ganon's metagame. Like I said before, without a hiararchy of some sort, what incentive do competitive Ganons have to strive for higher, you know?

This "title" will push Ganons farther, and keep the current King of Evil on top of his game as to not lose the spot. There's a reason most boards debate of these sorts of things for weeks. D:

Those who are largely non-competitive will obviously think it's a dumb contest (not pointing fingers at anyone, don't worry). But it does serve a purpose for those who are competitive.

No problem.

But, also, those who dont/didnt speak up, had time enough to do so.
And the select few that dont agree, are in the minority.

Just crown yourself already, man.
