I got some great MK experience this weekend...

vs. Ally: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKIxu669Y_A

vs. Lain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de676sbOJHU

These are just friendlies, and they weren't running on very much sleep, but it's still pretty epic.
That was epicly awesome.

There were a lot of things in those vids I could learn from you, like knowing when to airdodge through MK's up B off stage. I would have definitely tried to side B one of those times, and gotten gimped quite handily.

Is it any different to play those guys than it is the average competitive MK?

Yes.

Yes it is.

Ally and Lain come by Toronto, Lain was at Let's Brawl Toronto; I know these people.

Basically, the 'average' player at Ray and I's (Ray's and mine?) area is pretty fracking good. You come to appreciate just how different an MK scrub is from a serious MK player. And then you appreciate how the division between a serious MK player and a good, MK main player, is like the gap between Heaven and Earth.

Ally is one of those guys, though, who can't quite transfer his mixup / aggression skills character-to-character. I mean, he's good at reading people and escaping predictable patterns, but it's like he's always had to climb over doing predictable things himself with each character he's used.

His Snake had gimmicks even when it was clear he was a rising star. He beat those, apparently. His other vids that I've seen, he always falls into something, like he encodes how to play the char effectively into one bundle, of both options and actual mixup strategies.

In short, getting owned with a DAir out of Choke was not really surprising.

Still ****ing amazing DLA beat him, though. Even in a friendly. Ally wouldn't be one to underestimate Ganny or any character, that's for sure.

The best way to know when to air dodge MK's up B is to actually learn how to use MK yourself. The move isn't very flexible in terms of its hitbox - it covers a wide area, but once you miss, your options are very limited. That's why you need to wait for the right moment to use it. And if you know when that moment is, then you know which moment to air dodge it.

And yes, it's quite different to fight excellent players. The main difference is that it's a lot less fun. My favorite part of playing Ganondorf is punishing mistakes, and when pro players make very few mistakes, you realize how bare-bones his metagame is. He has to eat a LOT of attacks, and he has to be VERY good at punishing to keep up with his opponent damage-wise. The only reason I stayed alive against Ally so long is because I avoided/survived his edgeguarding attempts so well.

Anyways, glad you guys enjoyed the videos

What would we get? I think following up with more dair is good. But, a pivot grab can be good if it is buffered.

Tier List:

The King of Evil:
RayKalm

Lords of Evil/Top:
IJosh
Zhouten
Does anyone mind if I base Zhouten's and Ijosh's skills on how they preform on wifi? This goes for myself as well. I'm having doubts as to whether If I should or shouldn't be crowned "The King Of Evil".

I'll try getting matches with them. If they're able to beat me, I'll crown them the "King Of Evil".

Is this okay with everyone?

I, too, had doubts about that, to be honest.
However, after your recent Tourney Placing - The throne is all yours, no doubt.

Imo, it is sort of a faceslap to Fonz and the others when players without Offline Tourney-placings are ranked higher than them.

There could always be a Tourney Dorf Rank List, and... The Ganon Boards' Tier List

Tourney Dorf Rank List:
Every Ganon who has at least one Offline Tourney Placing.
[From Best results to less good results]

The Ganon Boards' Tier List:
Pretty much the same as the current one;
Based on: Offline/Online Skills, contribution, Ganon Knowledge.
+ Random, funny awards =p

I'm not saying it's the best solution, but it 'is' a solution.

My personal opinion is that wifi means next to nothing. I mean, if the SBR did the tier list based off of wifi, it would look a lot different. I remember entering a wifi tourney that was for only falcons and MKs. Three of the top four were Falcons. The MK got 3rd

We shouldn't be comfortable basing such high rankings solely upon wifi Ganon dittos. It's a whole different game on wifi; instead of "punishing your opponents for their mistakes without getting punished yourself," it's "punish your opponent for the mistake you predict he'll make and hope you're right so you don't get punished for it."

Of course, that's oversimplifying it a bit since Ganon does have a few "safe" options. Many of our styles just aren't conducive to Wifi play, however, and it's not fair to determine our best member solely on wifi brawl. It's not like the Ganon board owes them anything either... from what I can tell, neither is active on the Ganon board, let alone in the rest of the competitive community.

Don't get me wrong, I like both of them and respect both of them as excellent Ganondorfs. I'm sure they'd both agree with me, however, when I say that neither of them is the Ganon board's King of Evil.

So do I, consistently placed 3rd and 4th in my last four local tourneys. They're usually bi-monthly, but I got 3rd out of 21 and 19, and 4th out of 23 and 25. I'm confident that my skills in offline play are near equivalent to those of DLA and Breezy and Kalm even, but I definitely don't complain. I probably don't post my results on here like the rest of you, but I rep in my own way.

"Y do peple think kosk is good, he suks LOL"

"Whos DLA and Y do u are think you teh win?"

Your questions are to stupid for me to even consider answering seriously..

DoonKoon, shut the hell up and leave. This is a public board that nobody is in charge of, so I have every right to informally declare that your opinions are invalid and nobody will listen to them. In short: GET THE **** OUT.

You should post those results in the character ranking list then.

Also, shame on you people for thinking of using secondaries! Why aren't you fighting horrendous MUs with your main? Sure, you may lose, but you lose with honor/pride, and that's the point of competitive gameplay, right? Oh wait...
