That was epicly awesome.
There were a lot of things in those vids I could learn from you, like knowing when to airdodge through MK's up B off stage. I would have definitely tried to side B one of those times, and gotten gimped quite handily.
Is it any different to play those guys than it is the average competitive MK?
Yes.
Yes it is.
Ally and Lain come by Toronto, Lain was at
Let's Brawl Toronto; I know these people.
Basically, the 'average' player at Ray and I's (Ray's and mine?) area is pretty fracking good. You come to appreciate just how different an MK scrub is from a serious MK player. And then you appreciate how the division between a serious MK player and a
good, MK main player, is like the gap between Heaven and Earth.
Ally is one of those guys, though, who can't quite transfer his mixup / aggression skills character-to-character. I mean, he's good at
reading people and escaping predictable patterns, but it's like he's always had to climb over doing predictable things himself with each character he's used.
His Snake had gimmicks even when it was clear he was a rising star. He beat those, apparently. His other vids that I've seen, he always falls into something, like he encodes how to play the char
effectively into one bundle, of both options and actual mixup strategies.
In short, getting owned with a DAir out of Choke was not really surprising.
Still ****ing amazing DLA beat him, though. Even in a friendly. Ally wouldn't be one to underestimate Ganny or any character, that's for sure.
