    The idea of turning Mario Kart into “Smash Kart” or “Nintendo Kart” makes me legitimately furious. They haven’t even put in Kamek, Goomba, or Boom Boom yet - the Mario franchise (as well as its 3 main spin-offs) has a huge rabbit hole of characters and neglecting to explore that in favour of putting in more crossovers is just... no. I’d take Geriatric Rosalina, Capybara Suit Dry Bones, or Purple Cummingtonite Waluigi over Samus or Pikachu any day.

    One thing I never got about Rick and Morty is how they spend all this time establishing Rick is a horrible person and not worth looking up to, then use him to push their personal beliefs, like having him beat up Westboro Baptist Church members and Nazis. He commits genocide or at the least murders someone almost every episode, but somehow having your villain protagonist be racist or sexist is too far?

    I can’t believe Smash has gone 6 games and 7 waves of character additions without a single serpentine character. It’s actually kinda ridiculous.

    I guess there's not that many serpentine characters ingames. Aside from pokemon, all I can think of off the top of my head is Noodle from Snake's Pass, and he's not exactly the biggest gaming icon.

    Charizard has a surprisingly serpentine flying animation in Ult, which really isn't the direction I expected but it is neat. We also had Raquaza as a boss in Brawl but he sadly didn't come back.

    I can literally only think of Serperior as a good choice for that. And I'd be ok with it since we don't have a playable Gen 5 Pokémon yet.

    Or that the purpose of any kind of shaming is to “help” for that matter.

    I cannot blame you. I condemn it too because it is belittling. As far as having the money goes... there are many deep subjects in this world, and the best way of adressing our most concerning problems is a subject matter that would not be welcome by most, and so all I can do immediately here is agree with you. Living in this world is tough.

    Eating junk food is of course not the best option, but it will always be healthier than starving yourself, which some diets actively encourage.

    Diets (and exercise) are kind of an all of the above thing. It depends on your goals as to what and how much you should eat or exercise. If it's to lose fat then it doesn't really matter what you eat as long as you burn the equivalent in exercise. Building muscle also converts fat directly to muscle, so strength training is preferable to cardio if what you want is quick results for that particular goal.

    If you want a healthier body then what you eat and how much is more important as well as a moderate amount of exercise to keep the blood flowing and the joints lubricated. What you eat is obviously important as high amounts of sugar can lead to exhaustion, but overeating is hard on the body for other reasons as well. Then there are of course long-term problems that can arise from having too much a particular thing regularly.

    The important thing to remember is that diets are lifestyle choices. Celebrity diets are more for short-term transformations that can get their body looking a certain way for a movie and aren't meant for or are sustainable long-term. You don't have to think too hard about it if what you are after isn't extreme, but you do have to stick with it for the rest of your life. But I think people will find that the longer they abstain from eating bad foods the easier it is to do so. I ditched soda years ago and might have one once every two years or so and instantly regret it when I do as the sodium and sugar are at insane levels and I feel terrible physically afterwards. Drinking plain water is as natural as breathing to me now.

    Ultimately don't sweat the small stuff and think you need to overthink things. Common sense changes like moderating bad foods and introducing healthy food while incorporating a moderate exercise routine will go much farther than people give it credit. And those changes might become the springboard that could make you want to become more serious about diet and exercise.

    Out of all the characters to gain a new, revived following from hip Tumblr teenagers, the last one I’d expect is the ginger kid from that edgy Newgrounds parody where you kill Bear in the Big Blue House characters.

    I find that every attempt to make an already conventionally attractive female character more “beautiful”, “sexy”, or “older looking” just makes them look like lifeless, braindead zombies.

    Hmm... I feel like a rainbow design would have hurt a lot of people's heads after a while so I disagree on that one.

    The cloudy purple one is an interesting take. I kind of like it more than them looking squishy, but I do like the blue color more. A cross between the two designs would be sweet.

    Last idea while very appealing by itself isn't exactly what I'd picture when I think of a soul. Additionally, while not impossible, it seems like a design that would make character distinction more complicated than what the design they ended up going for. Especially since they had to make a lot of designs for the souls of the historical figures and whatever. I still do really like it tho.

    If the Smash fandom, specifically speculation, was as big as say, the MCU fandom, the English language would be very different.

    Do you guys know how many words we use today originated from Looney Tunes and The Simpsons? It’s staggering (which no, is not a word that originates from either)

    People will say things like the Lion King or Thomas the Tank Engine have problematic elements, but in all honesty, unless you just use them as a stylistic choice, it’s virtually impossible to write an anthropomorphic animal or object story without raising uncomfortable questions - especially when humans are involved.

    I don’t get why people, especially in the western world, are so reluctant to the idea of licenses for extremely important or dangerous tasks, like a parenting license; voting license; e.t.c.

    Doc Monocle Doc Monocle I'm not really sure to be honest. The problem with trying to make a general practice of parenting is that the children themselves vary greatly in what they need and what they respond to. Some children do better with a more hands-off approach and some children need to be constantly guided and prodded along. And some children have special needs or issues like social anxiety that need special care as to how to go about helping them cope with that. I think that's part of why so much is left to the parents because they are supposed to know the quirks of their children the best. That doesn't actually work in practice and parents aren't really any better at dealing with the nuances in their children, but if they can't do it, then I don't see how the government can.

    If we're talking just common sense things like don't beat your kids or something, then that might be only a little easier. Nurture vs nature is an eternal question, but I think there might be something about environments and how they can affect parent behaviors. Rather than trying to directly affect parent behaviors, perhaps it would be better to improve societal conditions instead. Removing more stressors in a parent's life and reducing the need for more time at work can lead to less instances of them taking their anger out on their kids and more time to actually parent their kids overall. Hopefully by creating a better environment for everyone we can break more cycles of abuse and neglect and give more families time to do stuff together and all that jazz.


    There's also cultural factors too, like the American obsession with independence that can play into this. I've always found the practice where we try to wean infants from their parents' bedrooms by letting them scream and cry night after night bizarre and rather cruel. The basis for this is a vague idea where if we don't wean them early they will grow up too dependent or something. This runs completely counter to any science that I know of and isn't really based in observable reality either. The idea that a one-year-old is even cognizant of these things is illogical, but thinking that your teenager or young adult is going to be unable to sleep in their own bed is even more bizarre. As if a teenage or college-aged boy is going to bring a girl in bed with them or something.

    Any real observation shows that children are naturally more dependent in the early stages of life, but progressively become more independent. And the logical conclusion would be to hold them close in their dependence period and then naturally let them go when they want to. And yet we push them away against their will in their dependence stage and then become clingy and smothering against their will when they become teenagers and want more independence on the basis that you don't want them to grow up too fast.

    This bizarre and illogical practice has many reasons, often selfish and arrogant ones, but they do permeate American parenting culture. And weaning children too soon actually creates dependency and insecurity issues and it's probably not a coincidence that Americans are commonly perceived as brash, insecure, and overly aggressive. But that insecurity leads to overcompensation including developing a false ego, which then leads to the type of stubbornness towards change and admitting that you were wrong that Americans are famous for.

    You can show an American the science on child development, how other countries have practices that lead to children sleeping with their parents far beyond what Americans would be comfortable with and how they aren't overly dependent as adults, and logic in general, but as we've seen with healthcare, facts and logic doesn't permeate American stubbornness very well.

    Add on the cultural distrust that Americans have towards government and I don't see how the government could influence cultural change in a substantive way. Perhaps in other countries it might be easier, but I'm not sure how you would do that here. And unfortunately this culture begets the exact type of thinking that leads into this culture in the first place.


    So I'm not sure there are easy answers to this.

    While Mario Rabbids 2 sounds good, I’d personally like if Rabbids became a crossover-driven franchise, where they’re used solely as an excuse to branch out the series into genres they haven’t used before. For example, Sonic + Rabbids could be a shooter, Zelda + Rabbids could be a platformer, Crash + Rabbids could be an action RPG, so on.

    If I was a leaker I’d add a fake character to the end of my FP2 leaks who is blatantly disappointing, and maybe even make up some story of how they got in that paints Sakurai and/or Nintendo in a bad light - just so I can watch how happy people are when the real final character is revealed.

    Don’t know if I can top Byleth for disappointment though, maybe Bubsy? I dunno.
