We talk a lot about separating art from artist, but I feel we don't talk enough about separating art(ist) from corporation.

I just sent someone in a YouTube comments section defending Mario 3D All-Stars because of ROM illegality a link explaining that "illegal = bad" is a logical fallacy, and they replied "I agree, piracy is stealing" - how can you miss the point so hard?

Dr. Mario's taunts look like idle animations and vice versa. I think they're going for subtlety, because he's a professional and such, but that doesn't really work with taunts.

You know how people say a good song can transport them to a nostalgic time?

I feel that, but... not in a very glamorous way.


Every time I hear this song, I think of getting queasy looking downwards at my DS Lite playing Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots in my dad's old dog-puke-infested car through the seaside, with the heat intensifying the dog puke smell.

Nostalgia usually makes bad things seem good, but for me it does the exact opposite.

Honestly I think Goomba should've been in Smash instead of Piranha Plant. Goomba is insignificant enough to be funny at first but, unlike PP, is iconic enough in the realm of Mario as a whole to not feel out of place when the gag wears off, plus a handless fighter does sound interesting.

The character models from the N64 version of Mother 3 look like memes, like even more so than 90s CGI usually does.

Something I'm surprised doesn't exist yet: a 3D dogfighting (as in with planes) party game - with items and stuff, like Mario Kart battle mode.

They should add a chuckster to Smash. Not any particular chuckster like "The Chuckster" or anything like that, but a chuckster, all lowercase. There is no one chuckster, they just rotate chucksters out for every battle. Every time you battle as a chuckster you get a randomly coloured and sized, but always moustached Pianta, no selecting alternate costumes. All their special moves are some variant of a command grab.

The thing about predicting characters will be OP is that we often forget these Mr. Sakurai Presents videos are ADVERTS. They are designed to subtly trick casual players into thinking the new fighter will be overpowered so they'll buy them to get an edge on their friends, not to give competitive and hardcore players the full frame data and gameplan or anything like that. That's not to say that the competitive community is being disregarded, but they're the periphery demographic for the Mr. Sakurai Presents series, everybody knows the competitive players are gonna scoop up any new character regardless of actual thoughts on them, casual players need to be sold on a fighter if they're not familiar or a fan.

I have a habit of Googling questions I know the answer to so I can see how wrong it gets them.

PM did some really good balancing work, but I think we can all agree they should've based Kirby off his 64 iteration, not Melee.

Sometimes I have the perfect pun, but many way too many ideas for set ups so I just combine them all into some eldritch fusion among the lines of "WHAT DO YOU CALL A DISAPPEARING PARROT WHO HAS 2 GIRLFRIENDS AND IS RENDERED ON THE NINTENDO 64?"

The reason we don't get many new Klonoa games is because they are not supposed to exist in this universe - they are merely the Kingdom Hearts equivalent from the alternate timeline where Disney never lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

The Creeper and Pig Mii costumes both have detached limbs... yeah, I think Rayman may be getting the costume treatment.

I'm surprised more people don't mention the idea of Andross as a Smash fighter. He'd be a fun character for Sakurai to express 100% original creative muscles on like Fox beforehand.

I've always seen Waluigi as kinda like a wrestling heel, but for golf. His few instances of full dialogue do imply he's somewhat of a nice guy, or at the very least wise - like, actually wise, not a wiseguy.

I used to be active on DeviantArt and draw a lot of very... um... niche artwork, let's call it that, about people with elastic limbs - and all the OCs made for this artwork were very samey: adult woman, big boobs. I was sick and tired of it so I just decided to make an OC who is as (conventionally) unattractive as humanly possible. I took an old OC of mine (a Kumatora recolour named Grace) and slowly turned her into a disgusting pop-culture-obsessed wannabe-90s-kid teenage slob.


While they never said it out loud, it seemed lot of people in the "elastic girl" community as they call it (I personally would've preferred a much more androgynous name) were baffled by this character - whenever I'd request people to draw her they'd remove the acne; give her boobs; e.t.c., which just defeated the point of the character to me. (fun fact: I specifically wrote into Grace's "lore" that she wears a chest binder and eye contacts so she can look more ugly, and actually has DD and anime eyes without them.)

I have quite a few OCs, and pretty much all of them are male, with Grace being one of two female characters. This was pretty much just an act of rebellion towards the female-dominated elastic OC lineup

I made a few treasured friends during my DA days, but now I speak with them on Discord instead. My OCs have stayed alive through our discussions, and I see big things in Grace's future... some day, she may just get her own game!

"taunt/teabag to get bodied" is just a sign of a bad player since it implies they aren't putting their all into the game until they get taunted.

While I like Shovel Knight as a game I always felt it had a little too many modern commodities. It's more a modern game with retro graphics than a retro throwback; which is what most people like about it but what I dislike about it above all.

Sometimes I wonder if "hoes mad" memes were actually an elaborate conspiratorial smear campaign by Byleth's haters against Byleth's fans. There's no way in hell anybody old enough to comprehend how FE's turn based strategy works and/or emotionally mature enough to handle permadeath would genuinely think making fun of people simply for the mere act of being upset at a video game character will help them or anyone else.

Well, add that to the Smash crossover web.

This is one of the most early 2010s things I've ever seen

This ad is strange to me for 2 reasons:

1. It implies the game's "hero" Buck Bumble likes to kill innocent spiders for fun.
2. You could just put a black screen on, play the Buck Bumble theme and add white text in Broadway font saying "buy buck bumble on n64" and it'd be the best selling game of all time. The song's that good.

Steve could be argued to be the first black default costume in Smash - even then, he's more racially ambiguous than outright black. Most merchandise of him is very white so I don't think he's intended to be black, it's just the shading.

I don't get why they added a Pig Mii Costume when they could've just added a Zombie Pigman or Piglin costume for Steve.

I'm a little annoyed one of Steve's stages has How to Play 64's layout when broken. I just want that stage made into a real stage at some point.

I have literally never seen anyone who's truly angry over Steve, at "worst" people are just mildly disappointed.
