i scrolled quick, saw the "celebration of (blank) history" thread in peripheral vision, and thought support threads had re-opened and the first one was blinky.
i have rib pain and every time i laugh it causes me literal pain, and I keep getting recomended this video at the same time, and accidentally clicking it even though i know the pain it will cause - it is basically my cthuhlu, looking at as much as the thumbnail could kill me

Warning IssuedI think both NASB and MVS fans do tend to overestimate how autistic the devs are about their source material's history. This goes for Smash too to an extent.

I had a dream where the Avatar (bald not blue) Switch game was going to be localised for the UK, but because people hated it so much they reskinned it and rebranded it under the name "Warframe" (no relation whatsoever) to prevent Nickelodeon brand damages - and then half-way through the dream the source game of Warframe changed to the new Zelda, but also the gameplay was a tactical RPG with sumo/Smash KO mechanics?

Something really weird I see in political discourse about representation in media is "Oh, you're just appealing to single digit% of the population"
OK, I get that numbers are hard to comprehend, but surely anyone would be able to tell that "1% of the population", even at a national scale, is an absolutely massive number. (and even then it's a lowball to say LGBT people are 1% of the US population... well, not really a low ball, just a lie.)
I'm watching a video about the Disney Parks IP discourse, and it's really interesting how much this mirrors Smash discourse, or at least my takes on modern Smash. There's a lot of talk about whether rigid source-accuracy is good, how much an IP ride should appeal to those who don't like or know the IP, "I know that I clapped", faster-horses mentality, e.t.c.

Been reading the Japanese press and comments about the Palworld lawsuit, a lot of really weird and concerning pro-corporate pro-copyright sentiment there - but something I find a bit funny (in a dystopian way) is that so many news reports start with (what is machine translated into) "[SAD NEWS:]"
Have the people who ask for a Pac-Man World moveset for Pac-Man actually played Pac-Man World? Pac-Man's movelists in those games work really well for what they are, but in the context of a Smash moveset they read like a strawman of Hal moveset design made by a fan of Namco moveset design. I'm a strong supporter of the NASB1 moveset design philosophy, but even I have to draw the line at giving Pac-Man a ground pound, projectile throw, and spin-dash as his whole special set.

I think true happiness is gained from absolutely adoring a side character from something you don't really care about, and your entire knowledge of that work being in relation to that character.
