Watching an MVS tierlist video and
- Listening to someone seriously talk about The Rock's Black Adam as a fighting game character feels borderline like they're being exploited.
- There's a nice irony to the best character in the 1v1 gamemode being Jake, a character who likely only got in (at least so early) because of the 2v2 focus.
"Bubsy 2 is the best Bubsy game" might just be JonTron's worst non-political take
In all seriousness, Bubsy is a really tricky series to evaluate, because the quality of a Bubsy game as a whole package is usually opposite to the quality of a Bubsy game as a game if that makes sense? The reboot games (thus far) are completely forgettable outside of their soundtracks and dialogue, but very compotent platformers, while the original 90s games tended to be absolute messes mechanically, but had a lot of interesting ideas and outright well-executed visuals - the only constant is that Bubsy 2 sucks.

You know, thinking back about that awful Sakurai Dolby take, maybe it's just me growing up autistic, but it never really crossed my mind until then that people wouldn't like logos, even the long and unskippable kind. Even watching CinemaSins as an edgy teenager I thought the joke with the running logos bit that I compared Sakurai's take to was "Yeah, they point out everything, even if it isn't a flaw", not "logos are too long, this is a flaw".
I had a dream where it was revealed that all copies of Super Mario Kart eventually self-destruct and slowly lose game features one by one after 30 years.

Star Wars came out in 1977, 16 years after Yuri Gagarin entered orbit and exactly 22 years after the start of the space race and beginning of the mass popularity of space toys, fitting right into the 20-to-30-year-nostalgia bubble, Star Wars is fundamentally based around "nostalgia pandering".
Execution, on the other hand, is another matter - but critcising the simple idea of "nostalgia pandering" as a whole as opposed to how it is done is, for many IPs that have managed to sustain themselves for a long time, completely neglecting their historical context.
Had a go at an MVS wishlist aaaaannnnddd ok, to be honest, half way through I was already just putting in characters less because I'd really want them if I was into MVS and more because I wanted a full image and happened to think they'd be at least somewhat cool or funny, I'm not actually dying to see Goopy Geer or the Revolting Slob in there - or really anyone here except Dastardly, Muttley, and Mung.
Disney Speedstorm making Kermit a bonus and not doing a Muppet season is a huge missed opportunity. I guess a Muppet track would run the risk of overlapping with the cinema section of the Steamboat Willie stage, but still.
I really can't bring myself to care much about Speedstorm as a whole though, just because they stopped making all the unlocks free for local play, and since then I've heard there's been some other suspicious things going on with monetization.

The workprint version of Foodfight ends with Dex and Sunshine's products (cereal and raisins respectively) getting a cross promotion following their marriage. OK, cute ending, buuuuut throughout the movie a major plot point is Lady X, the villain, trying to court Dex - Lady X is a detergent mascot, what horrible product would they make in the bad timeline ending?

There are a lot of valid and gripping criticisms of modern Atari, down to an existential level, I don't want to shill for any company or endorse any massive corporate buyout, but god damn the Intellivision news is a relief. As silly as the Amico saga has been, it's always been a bit sad that the Intellivision name and library had to be dragged through it. Of course, ideally these almost 50 year old games and hardware should at least be nearing the public domain in an ideal world, but getting off of Mr. Tallarico's wild ride is always a good thing

Oh my ****ing god, that Sakurai Dolby story might be the worst thing he's said yet. I get that Dolby is a faceless corporation, but actively refusing to improve your game's sound quality because you find giving proper contract-required credit "intrusive" is icky, plain and simple. This is the first thing he's said that isn't just "bad game design" but outright "bad acting".

I'm doing more research into MVS, and honestly it's really funny that MVS fans were making fun of NASB1 for its lack of alt costumes, because if you don't buy the paid variants, every character in MVS also only has one alt and you can't even willingly select it.

While I'm not a big fan of fan polls, I do think it would be quite interesting to do a profile posts-specific Smash roster poll, given that the profile posters do have a wildly different idea on what Smash should and shouldn't be compared to mainstream Smash fandom.

I really, really, really prefer MVS' approach to CGI trailers over Smash's - having a "whole game trailer" that shows off everyone both handing asses and getting asses handed is way more fun than centering a whole trailer on a single character being badass and badass alone, even putting my ethical gripes with Smash marketing aside -
