I feel like the region besides the US, UK and Japan that has the most popularity in the west in terms of video games is the Nordic countries. China or Korea are almost certainly bigger markets but a surprisingly large amount of really popular games come from Denmark, Sweden or Finland (as examples) for how relatively small they are.

I think there’s potential in table top RPG’s for games where the story/combat can quickly change on a whim if you say something wrong. I know you’re hearing that and saying “isn’t that what tabletop RPG’s are already like?” but I mean like there could be a set of “cursed phrases” or actions that if you say them causes an unexpected effect to happen and you have to figure out what they are and avoid them or try to use them to your advantage. It could also play into the magic system/lore in the story while having some dumb silly things you see in modern card games.
I played a tabletop RPG before at a con that does this but it turns out the phrases weren’t actually preset and it was a deliberate thing by the GM for pacing reasons.
I get the criticism that hideo kojima is too hollywood obsessed but i do think it’s adorable that he becomes a big fan of a Hollywood actor and watches every single movie with them in it whenever they’re added to his projects

I'm thinking of an idea for an RPG Maker game I wanna develop and for lore reasons if you get a critical hit the gods will punish you for your hubris and the damage will actually be lower than initially started. This is a terrible game mechanic and I am well aware of it.
