I love items-on play, but I have never got the appeal of Final Smashes. 3DS, Wii U, and Ultimate hand them out like candy on Halloween, and they're almost entirely cutscenes rather than actual interactive elements - even before the big FS interactivity purges in 3DS and Ultimate.

The new AVGN episodes are terrible, but less in a frustraiting way and more a mind-numbing way. He can't swear or crap all over the place so he just repeats facts Guru Larry told everyone 5 years ago in a tone of voice that makes them sound like jokes. (though TBF that's what most of my statuses are too)

Didn't the AVGN already do a Chronologically Confused video on Crazy Castle? Why is he going over this again? And how do you do a video on Garfield Labyrinth without bringing up the ending?

Of all the platform fighters I know with original casts, Rivals is the only one where they look like they could all be part of the same world instead of a crossover of video games from an alternate dimension. Sentinels comes very close from the characters known so far, but then you've got the big blob and bomb head guy.

Hot take: I'd love to see a collectathon game try to usurp DK64's collectable count.

I feel like DK64's problem was less "there's too many collectables" and more "there's too many different collectables", there's no need for Boss Keys to be a thing when you could just have a set amount of golden bananas free K. Lumsy while bosses give extra golden bananas for example - funnily enough I feel the closest-in-size collectathon (to my knowledge) Mario Odyssey had the opposite problem: there's not enough different types of Moon - so you get the same reward for completing a perfect-precision platforming challenge as you'd get for following the rumble feature to a random area in a room.

I really wish Crash 4 utilised the secondary playable characters more, perhaps even giving them their own stories a la Sonic Adventure - that being said, I certainly prefer fun but underutilised gameplay styles over mediocre and overused gameplay styles like the vehicles in Warped, and I really wouldn't want to be forced to play any more Cortex levels, as fun as Dingo and Tawna are.

I feel like one thing people on both sides of the "men's rights" debate don't understand is that yes, there are ways men are disadvantaged by society proportionate to women, even if to a MUCH lesser extent, but those problems are the results of misogyny and the patriarchy - not the pushback against it - and the solution to them is feminism. Systemic misandry doesn't exist, and social misandry is near-trivial (but should be called out in the rare case it does pop up), but social misogyny encourages problematic traits like the supression of emotion and glorification of violence in men.

Rapsittie Street Kids is a really comforting movie to me for some reason - the plot is as generic and dull as it gets, and all the characters (sans Gigastacy Great Grandma) are annoying, but the campy synth score and below-70s-quality CGI makes me feel really cozy for some reason.

I said this before on the NASB thread a few times, but feel y'all need to hear it:

The reason why modern platform fighters take after Melee and not Namco Smash is the same reason traditional fighters in the 90s took after SF2 and not SF1. Not saying SSBU is on the level of SF1 of course, but rather that one is very clearly a better base to build other projects from. Ultimate's appeal doesn't come from the engine, Melee's does.
