I've been on a bit of a nostalgia binge for Animaniacs lately - and I've come to realise that this show shaped my humour and interests a lot - not in the sense that I gravitate towards media that has the same tone or humour as Animaniacs (though I certainly do to an extent), but rather that the pop culture and political references were so dated when I was watching the show that I had to look up everything myself and find reference lists on old GeoCities sites, so I tend to like antiquated media and jokes or ideas that require really specific contexts as a result
I'm mostly nomming PM GHZ for the NASB RTC thread to see the want scores - competitive stages were a bit divisive on the thread when we saw Hugh's stage and the Royal Woods rework
I don't know whether to be more proud that my town has been starting to install homeless-friendly bus stops, or angry that there's a shattered beer bottle on a local pavement that they still haven't cleaned up after a week
Hot take: major character interactions are a bad idea for Smash - specifically because most Smash characters are either silent, or talk in text in their source material. I feel like most interactions you could make with the current Smash presentation and roster would be vague enough to pass off as a generic win screen.
I still love how Cars 3 was marketed as a "gritty reboot for the teens who watched Cars as kids" and then when it came out it was just a normal Cars movie and the scene from the teaser was way shorter and had less dramatic music in the film.
Wario not wanting to ban asbestos because of the economy is on-character and I hate to admit it.

Disregarding that Professor Fig dies in all endings, I don't think boycotting Harry Potter content would do much or that purchasing Hogwarts Legacy inherently makes you a bad person, just as slurping down Nesquik doesn't mean your support child slavery - there is no ethical consumption under capitalism after all...
HOWEVER, I do think openly engaging with official Harry Potter products legally is a major red flag
One of the Hogwarts Legacy spoilers would've legitimately saved the game a lot of bad press if it was part of the initial concept and expressed to players from minute 1 instead of being a twist

It should be easy to pick up on from my acceptance of the DiC and Atari spirits, but I think characters owned by companies not yet in Smash will be allowed for EAC so long as the content in question is part of a series owned by one of the Smash companies.

I'd love for a Mario platformer to fully play into the stage play framing device of Mario 3 and the early Paper Marios.
