Maybe this is just a case of me not really being an RPG guy, but I really don't get the demand for VA in Pokémon. Part of the fun of the RPGs I do enjoy is imagining character voices. I remember listening to some of the Pokémon Masters voice lines and thinking "this is not how I expected this character to sound"

I really wish Saberspark did more of his calm "animation history" videos. Stuff like his new Family Guy video, the Rugrats video, and the VeggieTales video are absolutely incredible, but he's adamant on doing videos raging about bargain bin movies and shows that are only known for a single vaguely-conventionally-attractive-but-not-at-all-revealing side character design.

I was expecting to hate this video, but actually really enjoyed it (body horror TW)

It's like the opposite of the subverted kids' show: the subverted adults' show - you keep expecting something bad or edgy to happen with all the eyeballs; bones; robots; and such as well as the general origin of it being commissioned by Adult Swim, but you eventually let your guard down and it's just pleasant.

Newspaper comics are so ****ing weird - like even beyond the surface level stuff (cow tools, garbage apes, the lineage of official Garfield horror, the non-existance of Calvin and Hobbes merchandise, Sluggo is Lit), you've got self-insert American exceptionalist propaganda in Little Orphan Annie, BC's completely counter-intuitive poignant Christian themes, Dennis the Menace having an evil Scottish twin, a suspiciously large amount of coincidentally-poorly-timed gags related to days of tragedy and rememberance across multiple comics, whatever the hell the Shmoo is supposed to be, Beetle Bailey strips designed specifically to be banned, and evil sarcastic Winnie the Pooh.

I'm listening to the Sonic Underground soundtrack - I was expecting a downgrade from the intro, especially with 3 Urkels singing, but I was not expecting all the songs to be poppy nursery rhymes with wholesome messages like "be kind to children" and "money can't buy happiness" in basically every genre except the ones that would fit the show's plot. One of the songs is ****ing ragtime

I've been reading GameFAQs discourse threads on the Smash DLC stages, and one really interesting point I saw bought up in the sea of "why don't competitive players just use Omega and Battlefield forms?" was that, because of how quickly Nintendo's online capabilities expanded between the Wii and 3DS, 3DS/Wii U were the first games where the devs would have hard data on which stages are most popular, and because competitive players have a smaller pool of stages, the competitive stages would far outweigh the non-Temple casual stages in quantity of playtime.

Having spent my pre-teen years on a diet of primarily retro games and only having gotten into 2000s stuff (beyond the licensed and 1P Nintendo games I played at a very young age) relatively recently, whenever I hear gaming opinions from my own age group, I feel really old. What do you mean Kid Icarus (1986) isn't fun? Asteroids (Atari 2600 port), ugly? Come on, you can wring hours of fun from Penguin Land (1987)!
