  • I damage boost so much in Sonic games you may as well call it one of his canon powers. Like I'd probably be stuck on Star Light Act 3 if not for damage boosting.
I'm so glad the moveset revamp talk has shifted from "where shoulder bash where ganondorf sword" to actually discussing characters who don't work well from a gameplay perspective like Sonic or Ness.

Kirby and Mario really need revamps.

Agree, I would have Kirby use many of his Copy Abilities for his new tilts, smashes and aireal as well Star Allies Sparkler as his new Final Smash.

Yeah, I agree. Mario could have the spin cap and spin jump from SMW in his side B. Damaging and reflecting in two direction. And with an invencible bottom colision box. And a better fireball. Or his hammer as side B or neutral B. And use the down B to gain distance on the air.

Kirby could have others references from his series and copies. And his copy ability could copy each special from the oponent. And throw the ability away with a talt in the air.
If Nintendo introduces a Warupichi and Warudaisi, they need to be HIDEOUS. I will NOT settle for some sexy Catwoman whip-clad S&M-implying femme fatale, I need something disgusting and slimy.
Ahh yes, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2...

because the original sold... so... well?

    And on top of this...

LINCOLN FREAKING LOUD IS FINALLY IN!

What is people's obsession with The Loud House? Is it a meme or something I missed?

I'll only sign this if Splash Mountain gets shut down, I like the ride too much to want it to change. Even then, I doubt a petition actually does anything.

Disney already took all the parts that could be interpreted as racist out though, and people really don't need to see the movie to understand it because its based off American folk tales.

It's one of Disneyland's most iconic attractions. I really can't imagine them rebranding it, and I don't think there's an urgent need to.
I want Sora in Smash as a Trojan horse to get a Goofy Mii costume, which in turn is a Trojan horse for I2I and Stand Out as music tracks
ScreenRant: "ARMS DLC could bring Smash's first black character"
Villager: "am I a joke to you?"

(I mean, Ken and Dark Pit have black alts too, but those have always rubbed me the wrong way... especially given the history of Violent Ken.)

We all know ScreenRant are insensitively trying to leech off recent events anyway.
The Alex Kidd revival is a little surprising, but not too much. I mean I've lived to see the returns of:

    Voodoo Vince
    Bubsy
    Streets of Rage
    Toejam and Earl
    Ninja Golf
    Kid Icarus
    Crash Bandicoot
    Good Sonic Games
    Spyro
    Chex Quest
    Ty the Tazmanian Tiger
Shantae (people often forget she was once a hidden gem one-hit wonder - now she's getting a new game every 2 seconds!)

Really I think we should start gambling (with fake money, not real money) over who gets a revival next, my bet's on Miner Willy.
Honestly I think the only Smash game where Fire Emblem WASN'T over represented was Brawl. If you cut one of 'em base game 3DS/Wii U is OK too.
Stans on r/CrashBandicoot kinda ruined the Nitro Squad for me, but I can't deny Beenox did a great job with their redesign. I'd love to see more desexualised redesigns for other games - Rouge the Bat redesign please Sega?
A lot of people talk about the idea of a Crash Smash trailer using the old Crash suit - if they did that they should use Simple Plan's cover of Happy Together - it's not only a homage to Smash 64's trailer, but also, in great western game ad tradition, completely unfitting for the reveal.
My stance on "Is Smash a fighting game?" depends on how it's played. Casual (items on, any stage) would be a no - but competitive (no items, select stages) would be a yes.

I've always felt the question of whether Smash is a fighting game was silly. Competitive elements or lack of do not define a genre. It just defines whether something is competitive or not. Is Gal Gun not a FPS because the objective is to shoot clothes off of girls or whatever and isn't highly technical like Counter Strike? Is Valkyria Chronicles not a strategy game because it has action elements? Sub genres exist for a reason. No matter how much of a twist you put on something, as long as it is still designed with a particular framework, it's going to still be part of that genre.

Mario Party is a party game because it has its own self-contained mini games and is played on a virtual game board. While said games can be action or platformer oriented, the overall main framework of the game isn't either of those things. It's a literal board game. You roll the die and that determines where you land and what you do.

Smash has heavy party game elements, but it isn't structured around a party framework. It has/had mini games with platformer or party elements but the main game is entirely built on a fighting game framework. Even in the original, characters' moves and archetypes were still based around frame data, range, damage, hitboxs, and other elements we associate with fighting games. You still have your heavy characters, your zoning characters, your aggressive characters, etc. You still play with the objective of dealing damage to KO your opponent in ways that aren't similar to other genres.

If you were to ask any layperson on whether Smash was closer to Mario Party or Street Fighter, I'm going to guess they would say Street Fighter or both. It's not something that required any real thought or analysis in the first place. You can just watch a match, even a casual match, and see it shares more similarities with fighting games than anything else.

It seems to me this all started when the 40-year-old manchildren in the FGC became self-aware that the rest of society does not look kindly on their hobby at their age. And that they are trying to use Smash as a sort of scapegoat to say that Smash is for children and their game(s) is for mature, competitive players that is a respectable sport, etc. Because I certainly don't remember seven-year-old me worrying about whether Smash 64 was fighting game, as it was rather obvious.

I say it's a fighting game, but people won't recognise it as so because it's gameplay is just so different from other fighting games. The concept of Nintendo characters fighting isn't just what makes Smash unique - the gameplay is revolutionary and unlike something ever seen in another successful fighting game ever, which is a little sad.
a themed Smash spin-off (such as "Super Smash Sisters", "Super Mario Smash Bros.", or "Super Smash Villains") is probably the worst Smash fan idea I've ever seen.

-Newcomers introduced in it are almost guaranteed to be cut in canon Smash instalments, and as such may never see time in the competitive spotlight
-You'd have to gasp at straws to get a full roster with a single theme, even with the size of Melee's roster - and not the fun Ice Climbers/Piranha Plant gasping at straws, and more the "one-time side character who doesn't do anything" type of gasping at straws
-A themed roster only ends up with an endless list of who you CAN'T include, not who you can

Sorry to tell you this, but that is certainly not "rated A for awesome".
Cancel culture works in mysterious ways. Some one-hit wonder rap star who posted a homophobic Tweet 10 years ago, before gay marriage even became legal? he gets cancelled - but a multi-millionaire author who has posted MULTIPLE transphobic comments in the PRESENT DAY, when EVERYONE should know better? oh, she's just being middle aged, let her be.
Old movie Sonic is a quite charming design - albeit more in the "it's awful, I love it!" way - the same way you find Gollum cute. If you separate it from the source material and imagine it as a garbage-eating dumpster-dwelling Garbage Pail Kid, it's kind of adorable.
I'm generally against turning Mario Kart into Smash Kart (who wants Mario Kart without Waluigi?) - but I feel a proper Sonic crossover is overdue - they should've done that instead of Animal Crossing.
I love the Brawl version of Stickerbush Symphony, but it really sounds more like a new song that samples the original - a sorta "Stand by Me/Beautiful Girls" thing - than a remix.
I saw a meme comparing the idea of Crash in Smash to Bubsy or Glover, calling all 3 "cereal mascots" - and honestly both of those "joke characters" would be great newcomers - Glover's ball gimmick could be an amazing Smash mechanic, and Bubsy could be a slippery glass cannon with projectiles!
The character of Shadow kinda confuses me - he was created to be the ultimate life form - so they made him a hedgehog? a prey animal that only eats insects, and spends all its time bathing in poop? surely you'd make him some kinda' apex predator - a whale, a crocodile, a tiger, a polar bear, maybe even a human? or some indestructible creature like a tardigrade or lobster? something super strong like a dung beetle, a gorilla, or an ant? but no, silly old Gerald made him a hedgehog, a pathetic insectivore that is born blind.
Is it just me or do a lot of video game history YouTube videos seem a little patronising? - like, you don't have to go "Wonderswan, eh? betcha' never hearda' that one!"

A lot of times I already know about the history of the game or the franchise I'm watching a documentary about. But I do find them entertaining to watch.

Sometimes for a weird reason, it can be entertaining to watch facts about games, even when you already know the facts. Unless the video is just a list of facts, and you know all of them, or you've already heard the fact worded in the same way the video does
I kinda wish streaming services would have "random episode" options for episodic series. That'd be super nostalgic.
If we're to believe infinite universe theory, that means there's a universe where Mr. Krabs is in Smash, no other Nickelodeon or non-game characters, JUST Krabs.
I know the Villagers in the newer AC games are supposed to be older, but I still can't help but find the presence of things like balding hair and beards a little weird. Glad they went with the earlier games' designs for Smash.
Melee is in a weird limbo of quality since it kinda falls into the "so bad it's good" category, but not in a comedic or nostalgic way and more that the game's flaws are it's greatest strengths, I can't think of any other media that has that quality, let alone games
Idea: an RPG party member who's completely useless in battle but such a good emotional support you'll like having them around anyway.
