  • This would be completely unreasonable and unfeasible from a developmental standpoint but console-specific Cuphead crossover bosses would be great.
I love Soul, but god do I wish they came up with a better design for the souls than Blu Tack Sour Patch Kids.

The last 3 here would’ve been much better.

Hmm... I feel like a rainbow design would have hurt a lot of people's heads after a while so I disagree on that one.

The cloudy purple one is an interesting take. I kind of like it more than them looking squishy, but I do like the blue color more. A cross between the two designs would be sweet.

Last idea while very appealing by itself isn't exactly what I'd picture when I think of a soul. Additionally, while not impossible, it seems like a design that would make character distinction more complicated than what the design they ended up going for. Especially since they had to make a lot of designs for the souls of the historical figures and whatever. I still do really like it tho.
If the Smash fandom, specifically speculation, was as big as say, the MCU fandom, the English language would be very different.

“Deconfirmed” and “4th party” pop to mind.

Do you guys know how many words we use today originated from Looney Tunes and The Simpsons? It’s staggering (which no, is not a word that originates from either)
People will say things like the Lion King or Thomas the Tank Engine have problematic elements, but in all honesty, unless you just use them as a stylistic choice, it’s virtually impossible to write an anthropomorphic animal or object story without raising uncomfortable questions - especially when humans are involved.
I don’t get why people, especially in the western world, are so reluctant to the idea of licenses for extremely important or dangerous tasks, like a parenting license; voting license; e.t.c.

Doc Monocle Doc Monocle I'm not really sure to be honest. The problem with trying to make a general practice of parenting is that the children themselves vary greatly in what they need and what they respond to. Some children do better with a more hands-off approach and some children need to be constantly guided and prodded along. And some children have special needs or issues like social anxiety that need special care as to how to go about helping them cope with that. I think that's part of why so much is left to the parents because they are supposed to know the quirks of their children the best. That doesn't actually work in practice and parents aren't really any better at dealing with the nuances in their children, but if they can't do it, then I don't see how the government can.

If we're talking just common sense things like don't beat your kids or something, then that might be only a little easier. Nurture vs nature is an eternal question, but I think there might be something about environments and how they can affect parent behaviors. Rather than trying to directly affect parent behaviors, perhaps it would be better to improve societal conditions instead. Removing more stressors in a parent's life and reducing the need for more time at work can lead to less instances of them taking their anger out on their kids and more time to actually parent their kids overall. Hopefully by creating a better environment for everyone we can break more cycles of abuse and neglect and give more families time to do stuff together and all that jazz.

There's also cultural factors too, like the American obsession with independence that can play into this. I've always found the practice where we try to wean infants from their parents' bedrooms by letting them scream and cry night after night bizarre and rather cruel. The basis for this is a vague idea where if we don't wean them early they will grow up too dependent or something. This runs completely counter to any science that I know of and isn't really based in observable reality either. The idea that a one-year-old is even cognizant of these things is illogical, but thinking that your teenager or young adult is going to be unable to sleep in their own bed is even more bizarre. As if a teenage or college-aged boy is going to bring a girl in bed with them or something.

Any real observation shows that children are naturally more dependent in the early stages of life, but progressively become more independent. And the logical conclusion would be to hold them close in their dependence period and then naturally let them go when they want to. And yet we push them away against their will in their dependence stage and then become clingy and smothering against their will when they become teenagers and want more independence on the basis that you don't want them to grow up too fast.

This bizarre and illogical practice has many reasons, often selfish and arrogant ones, but they do permeate American parenting culture. And weaning children too soon actually creates dependency and insecurity issues and it's probably not a coincidence that Americans are commonly perceived as brash, insecure, and overly aggressive. But that insecurity leads to overcompensation including developing a false ego, which then leads to the type of stubbornness towards change and admitting that you were wrong that Americans are famous for.

You can show an American the science on child development, how other countries have practices that lead to children sleeping with their parents far beyond what Americans would be comfortable with and how they aren't overly dependent as adults, and logic in general, but as we've seen with healthcare, facts and logic doesn't permeate American stubbornness very well.

Add on the cultural distrust that Americans have towards government and I don't see how the government could influence cultural change in a substantive way. Perhaps in other countries it might be easier, but I'm not sure how you would do that here. And unfortunately this culture begets the exact type of thinking that leads into this culture in the first place.

So I'm not sure there are easy answers to this.

I can't imagine anyway putting restrictions on who is or isn't allowed to vote could ever go wrong...
While Mario Rabbids 2 sounds good, I’d personally like if Rabbids became a crossover-driven franchise, where they’re used solely as an excuse to branch out the series into genres they haven’t used before. For example, Sonic + Rabbids could be a shooter, Zelda + Rabbids could be a platformer, Crash + Rabbids could be an action RPG, so on.
If I was a leaker I’d add a fake character to the end of my FP2 leaks who is blatantly disappointing, and maybe even make up some story of how they got in that paints Sakurai and/or Nintendo in a bad light - just so I can watch how happy people are when the real final character is revealed.

Don’t know if I can top Byleth for disappointment though, maybe Bubsy? I dunno.
I’m enjoying the SSBU sequel thread, but at the same time it’s reminding me how glad I am that real games have directors and aren’t democratic affairs.
This cheesy 80s Yorkshire accented puppet bird’s song is genuinely the most emotionally devastating thing I’ve heard, I’m legit crying.

Early Pac-Man merchandise has a chaotic, unsettling energy. I am not exaggerating as a joke, I am serious. This stuff looks like the work of a malicious god.
MatPat has only ever made two good theories: the Kingdom Hearts 3 Frozen theory, and the Chuck E, Cheese pizza... uh, not really a theory, more just a known fact people are too stupid to look up or trust. Still good on the basis of making said information more easily accessible.

Notice how both of those are out-universe speculation. Maybe Patrick should change his focus?

He’s definitely got more good theories than that, it’s just that the way he talks about the theories is kinda dumb, and the whole video end up being pretty cringey. It’s a shame since Matpat really has a useful talent for science and entertainment.

and btw “sans is ness” is in no way a good theory, there are plenty of holes in that theory

If this is about the earlier incident, I felt there were no good alternatives. I could go around reporting everyone that made inappropriate comments, but that can really aggravate everything worse. If I left it alone while I was involved with the conversation, I would feel partly to blame. What should have I done, in your opinion?
Headcanon: the Fire Emblem characters are a medieval mafia who bribe and threaten their way into getting more Smash reps.

They are also the reason the iteration of Link gets “swapped out” every two instalments. Don’t use camera mods on the second phase of Castle Siege.
Do you ever see someone post a really bad take that would only hold any weight on a school playground- then check their account, find out they’re older than you and just feel super second-hand embarrassed for them?

As if people on a school playground would have any argumentative skills in the first place when they should be doing their algebra homework.

Plus if it's a school playground argument, must be even more embarrassing if you can't even prove it wrong.

Umm... who does algebra at a school level where they still need playgrounds?
    DrCoeloCephalo

Considering they teach algebra in 5th and 6th grades of elememtary school where playgrounds are common, the obvious answer is elementary schools.

Why does almost every adult cartoon have an alcoholic father as a protagonist?
I see game accuracy as a bonus when it comes to Smash movesets, not a requirement. The main focus should be playing well as a fighting game character, otherwise you end up with Belmonts.
I think the stupidest video game fan concept I’ve ever heard is “open world Sonic”.

I think the Adventure fields from Sonic Adventure could be reworked to be a bit of a more fun way to travel between levels, in the same way its really fun to swing around the city in a Spider-Man game on your way to the main objective.

Oh, or how about this? Give that open world idea to Knuckles, and have the open world be Angel Island! Give him some Emerald shards to find, mysteries to uncover, other hidden collectibles, all that. And you could throw some traditional Sonic levels in there as well. Imagine jumping from the top of Ice Cap and gliding all the way to Sandopolis. Man, that'd be fun.

Still waiting on one of these Mario 64 modders to make a Knuckles 64. Replacing the Stars with Master Emerald shards would be a good start. The levels can all be zones from Angel Island.
I’m watching this SpongeBob theory about how the show is supposedly a nature show in-universe, and pretty much every point they make can be countered with “it’s a comedy and that’s the joke.”
Sonic fans: “please, for the love of god, stop appealing to nostalgia! We’ll do anything!”
Angry Birds fans: “please, for the love of god, start appealing to nostalgia! We’ll do anything!”
Why would I want to watch Funee Monkee vs. The Jesus Lizard when I could just watch the true greatest battle movie of all time: SANS and PAPYRUS vs SHREK and DONKEY! Cartoon Fight Club Episode 38
Despite being by the same director, The Iron Giant and The Incredibles have basically the exact opposite message. I’d say I align more with the prior though.

Either way, both are fantastic movies so who cares? There’s plenty of movies I enjoy but disagree with the message of, at the end of the day good filmmaking is most important.
I’m watching Caddicarus’ PlayStation magazines video and it’s kinda funny (but also a little miraculous) how the idea of “nerd” and “cool” have swapped over the past 2 decades and 1 year. An obsession with “hot babes” meant you were a real “bloke” in the ‘00s, but now it just means you’re gross. Liking media with cute characters meant you were a “nerd who still wets their pants” in the 00s, now you’re considered a nerd for only liking things with blood, guts and angry eyebrows.
I don’t get why people’s hypothetical Crash Smash stages tend to involve crates so much, I feel they’re a better fit for items.
