  • “You didn’t play past the main story” is a really stupid way of justifying a game’s difficulty. Why would I want to play through an entirely easy game just to get to the 4 or 5 hard bonus levels/worlds? Why is the game structured in such a way that it’s easy to get the ending cinematic, with all the challenge saved for the postgame which only gets you a sequel tease at best?

I think games that do this are generally trying to appeal to a more casual demographic who might not be as good at games as their primary audience, with the postgame content being their to give more experienced something to. There's probably better ways to do this though, like giving levels optional objectives that are much more challenging to complete.
This is the most surreal advert in history. It’s a pop culture reference to a pop culture reference, it was made for extremely petty means (as with anything comparing something to 1984), and its purpose and references will be completely lost on their main demographic, it just defies all logic.
Sega does what Nintendon’t: Make good, non-gimmicky Lego sets.

I seriously have no clue where the whole idea of Duck Hunt being “substitute Banjo” came from, other than just “brown mammal. bird.”
This anti-Pokémon pro-Digimon meme reads as the exact reverse.

Monsters can be anything. There are no rules to what monsters can or cannot be or what they should look like. Who's to say a monster can't be a humanoid with long blonde hair, lipstick, a red dress and breasts? Who's to say a monster can't be an ice cream cone? Who's to say a monster can't be a set of turning gears? Who's to say a monster can't be a sentient garbage bag? Who's to say a monster can't be a golden mecha?

Rhetorical question, cuz the answer is "No one."

what i'm saying is if you were to place that in the context of a wild pokemon it would be kinda odd
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
That's because of a difference in design philosophy.

Of course it's going to look out of place in a different context.

Pokemon's design philosophy involves treating the monsters like glorified wildlife even though they can't be consistent or respectful of their own biology or story. So taking huge robotic monsters like RustTyrannomon that also retain sapience and can talk naturally is going to seem out of place in Pokemon games.

In contrast, Digimon doesn't have any true set rules on monsters. They do whatever they want with the designs, are living breathing programs from a parallel universe that have their own set society and yet simple designs like Voltorb amongst many Rookie, In-Training or Baby Digimon is hardly going to be as out of place due to this context.
Horrific thought that came to me out of nowhere: do taxidermied animals come to life in the Toy Story universe? I mean, they’re not toys, but Christmas decorations come to life in the Toy Story universe so surely any inanimate object made to resemble a life form can come to life?

simple answer; best not to think about it.

most likely one; ....possibly? With the creation of Forky in TS4, it created a weird scenario in the universe. Forky was created out of literal trash parts, by all accounts he should not have came to life like the toys did, and yet he did.

So perhaps all "toys" in the universe come to life after children truly imagine them to be real and play with them. But then that contradicts events in TS:2, where children never actually played with the toys on the aisles in the toy store, nor did any play with Stinky Pete, So how did all those become alive? The only possible, and honestly kinda flimsy at best, argument that could be made, is well...maybe in the toy store there would be so many children at one time there, that all their imaginations at once give off enough magic to bring all the toys to life.

And so getting back to the taxidermy animals.....if perhaps some kid grew up in some crazy redneck hunters home, who taxidermized all the animals he shot, and that kid had an imagination of those animals still being alive, or worse, the kid was playing with them because the parent is some crazy lunatic that wants to give their kid dead carcasses as "toys", then perhaps (if forky is any indicator)....yes those dead animals would be brought back to life anytime there were no humans similar to all the other "toys."

And that would probably be the most terrifying TS halloween special pixar could make.

If an action figure of a wrestling star, for example, came to life, would the toy behave like the real life star and have to endure psychological torture by not being able to see his or her family and living in a random kinds room?
If you search “cartoon with British accent” Google will get really aggressive with you.
Wouldn’t a walk button make more sense from a game design perspective than a run button? Like, in platformers you’re usually running fast, so shouldn’t the thing you do more rarely be tied to button instead of the thing you’re doing almost all the time?
    ZephyrZ

I think in platformers new players are going to want to walk more since its easy to control.
As someone from outside the FE fandom, can someone explain the obsession with the Gatekeeper? Is he just a funny comic relief character? Are people trying to meme an insignificant character into stardom? Is he more important than what I’ve seen about him makes him seem?

He became a meme because he says pretty much the same thing every time you talk to him and he is always super cheerful when saying it. Even during the more serious parts of the game.

Basically all he does is stand by the entrance and say “Greetings professor! Nothing to report!” and then just talks to you

He has literally no purpose in the narrative or in gameplay, so a lot of people have adopted him as this “meme figure”because of how random he is. A lot of people also like his cheerful personality I guess, and he’s become pretty popular. It’s kind of like a “haha remember this one obscure insignificant character?”

And a lot of the memes are talking about how the gatekeeper should be a romance option, which to be honest would be hilarious
The idea of turning Mario Kart into “Smash Kart” or “Nintendo Kart” makes me legitimately furious. They haven’t even put in Kamek, Goomba, or Boom Boom yet - the Mario franchise (as well as its 3 main spin-offs) has a huge rabbit hole of characters and neglecting to explore that in favour of putting in more crossovers is just... no. I’d take Geriatric Rosalina, Capybara Suit Dry Bones, or Purple Cummingtonite Waluigi over Samus or Pikachu any day.
One thing I never got about Rick and Morty is how they spend all this time establishing Rick is a horrible person and not worth looking up to, then use him to push their personal beliefs, like having him beat up Westboro Baptist Church members and Nazis. He commits genocide or at the least murders someone almost every episode, but somehow having your villain protagonist be racist or sexist is too far?
I can’t believe Smash has gone 6 games and 7 waves of character additions without a single serpentine character. It’s actually kinda ridiculous.
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
I guess there's not that many serpentine characters ingames. Aside from pokemon, all I can think of off the top of my head is Noodle from Snake's Pass, and he's not exactly the biggest gaming icon.

Charizard has a surprisingly serpentine flying animation in Ult, which really isn't the direction I expected but it is neat. We also had Raquaza as a boss in Brawl but he sadly didn't come back.

I can literally only think of Serperior as a good choice for that. And I'd be ok with it since we don't have a playable Gen 5 Pokémon yet.

Onix would be good as a rock type and heavyweight.
Imagine genuinely, unironically believing the purpose of fat-shaming is to encourage a healthier diet.

Or that the purpose of any kind of shaming is to “help” for that matter.

I cannot blame you. I condemn it too because it is belittling. As far as having the money goes... there are many deep subjects in this world, and the best way of adressing our most concerning problems is a subject matter that would not be welcome by most, and so all I can do immediately here is agree with you. Living in this world is tough.

Eating junk food is of course not the best option, but it will always be healthier than starving yourself, which some diets actively encourage.

Diets (and exercise) are kind of an all of the above thing. It depends on your goals as to what and how much you should eat or exercise. If it's to lose fat then it doesn't really matter what you eat as long as you burn the equivalent in exercise. Building muscle also converts fat directly to muscle, so strength training is preferable to cardio if what you want is quick results for that particular goal.

If you want a healthier body then what you eat and how much is more important as well as a moderate amount of exercise to keep the blood flowing and the joints lubricated. What you eat is obviously important as high amounts of sugar can lead to exhaustion, but overeating is hard on the body for other reasons as well. Then there are of course long-term problems that can arise from having too much a particular thing regularly.

The important thing to remember is that diets are lifestyle choices. Celebrity diets are more for short-term transformations that can get their body looking a certain way for a movie and aren't meant for or are sustainable long-term. You don't have to think too hard about it if what you are after isn't extreme, but you do have to stick with it for the rest of your life. But I think people will find that the longer they abstain from eating bad foods the easier it is to do so. I ditched soda years ago and might have one once every two years or so and instantly regret it when I do as the sodium and sugar are at insane levels and I feel terrible physically afterwards. Drinking plain water is as natural as breathing to me now.

Ultimately don't sweat the small stuff and think you need to overthink things. Common sense changes like moderating bad foods and introducing healthy food while incorporating a moderate exercise routine will go much farther than people give it credit. And those changes might become the springboard that could make you want to become more serious about diet and exercise.
Out of all the characters to gain a new, revived following from hip Tumblr teenagers, the last one I’d expect is the ginger kid from that edgy Newgrounds parody where you kill Bear in the Big Blue House characters.
I’ve seen a lot of bad ideas in the sequel thread, but I think the worst so far is giving FD and BF ties to specific games.

I think it takes more advantage of the crossover aspect of smash instead of feeling random and generic

I guess, but to me smash's identity is a crossover of other games

    to each their own though
I find that every attempt to make an already conventionally attractive female character more “beautiful”, “sexy”, or “older looking” just makes them look like lifeless, braindead zombies.

    See two posts below.
This would be completely unreasonable and unfeasible from a developmental standpoint but console-specific Cuphead crossover bosses would be great.
