  • "Kirby and Captain Falcon for Mario Kart 9!"
Calm down dudes, they haven't even added Kamek yet! Nintendo's far from the bottom of the barrel, and if CTR has taught me anything (other than that microtransactions are completely trivial and not worth worrying about), it's that the bottom of the barrel is exactly where you want to be.

Also in terms of Nintendo characters Captain Falcon is the very definition of "bottom of the barrel"

    Ah yes, my two mains.
Shame they stopped adding characters, I was hoping freaking Mr. Crumb would make it down the line, but hey, he's gonna show up in Crash on the Run because of the CTR requests so that'll be fun.

I want Petey back in Mario Kart also

I was so hyped about Mr. Crumb getting in On The Run, hope to see the Viscount get in a future game too.
The trademark lookup site is such a weird place, some cool stuff I've discovered:

Pac-Man World 3 was originally called "Pac-Man World 3: The Elixir of Life"
This SEGA logo, which they filed for in 2019:

Nintendo filed a trademark for "QUBE" in the 70s. At first I thought it was something to do with the Viacom-owned interactive 70s TV channel QUBE, but seems not judging from the time frame - specifically with the registration coming after the channel

This image of Toon Link, at first I thought it was stolen fan art given the art style doesn't fully match up with any toon-style Zelda games, but it seems like it was drawn for the trademark registration

In the 90s, Viacom filed trademarks for pretty much every character from CatDog (they were super enthusiastic about this show when it came out, but SpongeBob ended up being the big hit) - sorry to anyone with an unrelated idea for characters called "the Greaser Dogs" or "Rancid Rabbit".
Some small additions I'd want in SSBU, some might be bigger than others, I'm not a gamedev so I wouldn't know:

    Level 10 CPU
Ability to disable certain characters (for example, if you want to remove the FE characters from your roster, or your friend is getting super annoying with Duck Hunt's can, you can just ban them on a specific ruleset)
Certain hazards-off stages fixed (looking at you, Smashville)
    AT/PokeBall switch
    Coin Mode
Ability to choose series symbols and victory themes for Miis.
I always interpreted the "dying cat" instrument in Hill Top Zone's theme as a stereotypical sassy big black woman (think "It's Raining Men") shouting "OOOOOOH YEEEEEAAAAAHHHH!"
Another dream I had was one where I got a TV with a time travel function. Not physical time travel mind you, but TV time travel, so you could watch TV from the past.

I decided to go on Disney Cinemagic (a LONG defunct Disney channel), they were showing Up in 3D - except it wasn't Up, instead it began with a hot air balloon rising above the sky (not multiple balloons, just one), catching on fire, Russel jumping out of it and towards the screen, then being chased by mosquitos, one of said mosquitos stopping to kiss the screen. Then it ended.

They reskinned some between 64 and Melee. Namely Sector Z and Planet Zebes, which were reskinned into Corneria and Brinstar.

Reskin wouldn't really be accurate. Sector Z is much bigger than Corneria; while Brinstar and Planet Zebes are VERY, VERY different stages - all they share is a general location and lava gimmick, which even then works differently between the two stages.
I went on a Nintendo news website to find about more about the new Drawn to Life game, saw this image of a Lyn figurine on the articles list, thought it was a Smash render and had a mini-heart attack. Plz no more FE.

    What's the figure for?

Also Lyn is a terrible lord. Not as bad as Roy levels of bad but still.
Don Bluth, one of the most legendary 2D animators to have ever lived, was once hired to work on a Pac-Man game, that game was reworked into Pac-Man World 3, and pretty much the only remnant of his concept was this:

Imagine hiring the guy who created Secret of NIMH and All Dogs Go to Heaven to design a villain for your most iconic character to fight and he comes up with a Butt Ugly Martians reject.
Brand is a very bad parent and poor little New deserves better.

Have you ever heard the phrase "brand spanking new"? the term "spanking", in the case of "brand spanking new", means "spick and span", but the word "spanking" also means to beat your kids.
An instant way to tell if a news source is worth supporting is which words they put in quotation marks in their titles. Words coined in relation to modern social developments (such as "asexuality" or "transphobia") being put in quotations is a huge red flag. Any subjective term (such as "amazing" or "sick") going WITHOUT quotations is also a huge red flag.
"Group of 7 characters = the 7 deadly sins" isn't a theory, it's just basic character writing. Fully intentional, whether the biblical connections are conscious or not.
Yooka-Laylee has some really bad character designs, but I do like this guy:

His very existence is an innuendo, you get a good feel for his personality, and he's just pleasing on the eyes. Better than...

    This vile creature
It's all part of the plan

"Ey, thanks for allowing your games on our platform! Hopefully this benefits you as much as us!"
"Ahh, good to know! BTW, I have some marketing advice... heheh"
"I'd be happy to take marketing advice from you! You are from the biggest tech company after all"
"Release your classic content with limited time availability, people will love it! you'll get tons of dough!"

"And now, we wait for the backlash... Japan here we come!"
There's this really good Twitter account called Nick TV History, and it basically just shows off weird old Nickelodeon ads and merchandise. The sentence "Jimmy Neutron's Presidents' Day Dance Party" sounds like it was thrown together by a sober man pretending to be a drunk man pretending to be a robot
Can we PLEASE stop holding Sakurai on a pedestal? or at the very least stop treating any criticism of Smash or its roster as "harassment" or "ungratefulness"?
I always disliked how big they drew the feet and hands in Codename Kids Next Door. KND was a C tier CN show. It's not on the level of like, Squirrel Boy or I.M. Weasel, but it's certainly not a classic either.
The Zero Punctuation review of Crash 4 is absolutely terrible.

Really it's most of the same problems of other Crash 4 reviews - "corridor platformer outdated and bad" for example - but there's tons more research failure than usual Crash 4 reviews such as calling Crash (the character) "edgy" in the same veins as Sonic, complaining about the "lack of accessibility options" (despite the fact there are accessibility options the reviewer just turned off), implying TfB reused N. Sane assests, claiming the quantum masks were "recycled from Mario Galaxy" (how do you even get to that conclusion?), and claiming the game has no story despite not being aware Tawna is an AU counterpart (meaning he likely skipped the cutscenes).

The guy frequently makes jokes in there, I wouldn't be surprised if the Galaxy thing was a joke as well. I have yet to look at it myself, but it's on my to do list.
Going back to 2016 when Steve was just considered a "Smash meme" to tell people that he'll be in Smash is one thing, but how about going back in time to 2011/2012 when Minecraft was just considered a "niche kids' fad" to tell people Steve will be in Smash?
Have you ever realised that Ridley got in Smash through a misconception of a misconception?

E3 2001: Melee reveal, audience cheers for Samus, at-the-time a rarely seen and somewhat mythologised Nintendo character

That same E3: Metroid Prime is revealed, Samus becomes a mainstay again

Over time, people would discover archived uploads of that video and, not realising Samus hadn't had a new game since the SNES at that point and was considered a scarecly-seen but instantly crowd-pleasing figure a la Boba Fett, assume people were cheering over Ridley, starting the push for Ridley in Smash.
Teletoon execs: "How do we appeal to the anime-loving youth of today?"
Teletoon employees: "Let's dub some family friendly anime into English!"

Basically all Canadians, especially kids, do not like most TV shows/movies that were made in Canada. I remember whenever a cartoon came on the TV that wasn’t that good, thinking “Hmmm, this must be Canadian...”
That doesn’t mean Canadian shows can’t be successful or as good as American shows, it just means American content is usually better
Time for Bubsy apologist mode again:

The first Bubsy game understood Sonic A LOT better than other Sonic clones, both from the time and today. That doesn't make it better necessarily, but the way Bubsy builds up speed is almost 1 to 1 with Sonic 1. There's still the cheap deaths and terrible level design holding it back, but Berlyn clearly did to an extent understand Sonic. I'd say the issue was Berlyn's history in text adventures, which are by design unpredictable and unfair, which works for an immersive experience like a text adventure but not for a Sonic clone.
Kaptain K. Rool would be way better as a semi-clone than an alt. Hell, I could actually see Kaptain getting a unique moveset of his own.
