  • Funny how there is a chance that the PS5's lifespan will last shorter than the Wii U's lifespan.
Bruh what's going on, Sony is already planning the PS6 after only 5 years of the PS5, Microsoft may exit the console market, and no news on the Switch 2. I think Nintendo is being sensible in not announcing anything, they have a good thing going already and they certainly are mindful of whats going on. I think people just want a Switch 2 because they want a new console and not because they think the Switch 1 is outdated. BOTW and Pikmin 4 proved that despite being weaker, the Switch it capable of making games with a larger impact than the competition. I mean aside from Spider-Man and God of War, what other first-party games stuck with you on the PlayStation?

Microsoft exiting the console market was kinda overblown; All that really came out of it was porting a few exclusives to other consoles. Totally get your point about the Switch 2, though - It’s not really about console specs and power to me, but rather the experiences I have with them.

I think the issue is that with the Switch we have Pikmin 4, Splatoon, Smash Ultimate, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Mario Wonder, Mario+Rabbids, Metroid Dread, Mario Maker 2, a bunch of remakes for classic retro games, and that's not even getting into the Wii U rereleases that gave some games second lives. Nintendo is a company whose strength is its IP, and when it makes a hit, it makes a hit that sticks. Nintendo is a company that prides on its IP over any other aspect.

I personally don’t really think there’s that big big chance of the PS6 coming soon or Xbox leaving the console marketplace but this year does feel like it’s going to be a transitionary period in video games considering AAA publishers are feeling the effects of their increasing prices not being very feasible and all that.
I am going to tweak wave dashing a bit to gel with my platfighter better. How does this sound?

Wavedashing is renamed Shieldashing, since instead of performing a wave dash with a dodge, you perform it by pressing Shield. Shielding is an even more important mechanic in this game since it is powered by your hypermeter, i e the meter used for performing enhanced special attacks and more powerful hypermax attacks. By using your shield, you lose meter energy to perform these special moves, so balance is needed to properly play this game. By simply tapping the shield button, you create a standard shieldash while holding it allowing you to end your shieldash with a shield. You can even exit your shield with a well-timed shieldash, allowing for some out-of-shield mobility. This combined with the DAMICA technique I discussed last post will definitely help my game feel more distinct from other plat-fighters. How does my change to wave-dashing sound?
Once I get some other code done in my Platfighter, I am going to make a new advanced technique, called DAMICA, a spiritual successor to Brawl's DACUS technique.

DAMICA, short for Dash Attack Momentum into Charge Attack (Charge Attack is my equvilent to Smash Attacks btw) is quite self explanatory. By performing a Dash Attack and Charge Attack at around the same frame you cancel the Dash Attack and instead perform a Charge Attack while keeping the momentum of the Dash Attack. This allows you to cross longer distances and even perform Charge Attacks in the air. How does the idea sound?
Does anyone else feel like the Duck Hunt dog gets too much hate, and this was before he became a smash fighter, just a random thought. Mainly since it bugged me that everyone wanted to shoot the dog, that's just concerning ngl. Then again if you knew the dog was a deep cut reference to Muttley from Wacky Races then you'll probably not hate it as much. No seriously, Muttley from Wacky Races inspired the Duck Hunt Dog's behavior.
Does anyone unironically miss custom moves and wished they were reworked to be more balanced.

The biggest problem custom moves had IMO wasn’t just balance (although that was also definitely an issue,) it was the fact that their implementation was extremely inconvenient. Not only did you have to grind to unlock them randomly and hope you don‘t get duplicates, you also had to go to the customization menu and manually set up every custom move set you wanted to use. If custom moves were simply unlocked from the start and directly selectable from the CSS, they’d be waaaay more practical for both casual and competitive play.

Yeah, they should have totally been sellable at the shop, would make total sense. That and the lack of duplicates.
Hey this may be a dumb mechanic idea, but I think it would be neat for my Platfighter to have a minor hidden mechanic where if you perform a Smash attack while running you'll keep your dash momentum and can even go off the ledge and perform a Smash attack in the air. This is an evolution of the DACUS tech from Smash Bros Brawl, which I personally like and would like to see in a future Platfighter. How does that idea sound?
I think I know how to fix Little Mac's inherit concept, How about you take his concept of a character being amazing in the ground and sucking in the air and mix that with a swap fighter who is the direct opposite, someone who is great in the air but sucks on the ground. Don't know how I can make a platfighter suck on the ground and be good in the air though while making them as equally good as the ground-focused form.
Does anyone find it odd that after all those years R.O.B. still doesn't have a home stage of his own? Yes, I know he doesn't have much to work off of but the Ice Climbers somehow got two so I wouldn't think it would be difficult to make a home stage for R.O.B. I mean look at Gyromite, the gimmick of different pairs of doors opening and closing would work well for a nice casual stage. Maybe the stage could be modernized into a laboratory with a giant R.O.B. in the background and players hit switches to activate it so that it can open and close different doors with a Gyromite. I feel like that could be a cool stage and fits for R.O.B.
Am I the only one who is passionately angry that Warner Bros wrote off Wily vs Acme in a tax writeoff, preventing the public from seeing a potential work of art, I feel that you would of gained more from the box office than what you would gain from the writeoff
I have a question, if Minecraft World was banned in competitive Smash because it gave Steve an unfair advantage, then wouldn't it make sense to legalize it if no player picked Steve as a caveat?

Off the top of my head, there's a few other problems with it too. What immediately springs to mind is that the stage's layout is one of a few random ones, which isn't immediately visually indicated to all players until the game starts (due to the use of specialised inputs to select a biome.)

If Ultimate's stagelist was smaller, it might be a potential counterpick in Hazards Off mode (given it removes the destructible blocks on the stage.) But in its current form, and amongst Ultimate's stage selection, there's not really an argument for it being a "necessary concession" like Melee Mute City or something.

Like this post if you want DK's Green skin in Smash to be replaced with a Ghastly King themed skin in the next Smash game.
It's a shame DK Jungle Beat has no post-game, I would kill for an endless mode where you try and get as many points as you can without touching the ground and losing your combo.
It is my headcanon that the Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is an entirely separate character from the canon Donkey Kong

Here is that Donkey Kong's feats:
    • He overthrew more than a dozen sovereign nations in only a week
    • He caused the swine population to become critically endangered
    • He punched a spider's eyes so much that they liquified
    • He caused the extinction of the panda species
    • He ate a mountain-sized Chili Pepper without getting his organs melted
    • He exorcised a demon king... twice
    • He made pigs critically endangered
    • He made Diddy Kong fatherless
Jungle Beat Donkey Kong can solo the entire Mario universe without breaking a sweat, believe me, he can.

I wonder if anyone remembered this obscure as heck game from the mid 2010s that released for the PS3, PS4, and Vita who has their online servers discontinued in 2019, cause the soundtrack is awesome
How can I make a world made out food... logical, like how can I make a logical explanation for the origins of a world made out of food, specifically a planet made out of food, like do I just make a planet that is one giant fast food court, this idea is for my Platfighter BTW.

Someone built a planet made of cake as a tourist attraction. :4pacman:

You could maybe say that the planet is covered in a dense layer of organic material created by eons of local creatures living and dying (kinda sorta like how the floor in many parts of the ocean IRL is covered in the skeletons of dead microscopic creatures that some creatures can eat, except this is even deeper and is human-edible.) And so, when spacefarers found and colonized this planet, they started mining and refining the stuff into familiar edible food products, and ultimately constructed the giant food court that covers the entire planet's surface today. (I'm not sure how a planet could become that densely coated with dead creatures in the first place, but it sounds reasonable enough for a sci-fi setting IMO.)

Or maybe, the planet was the site of a test of a new technology to rapidly grow food products, but this went way out of control and the food products covered the entire planet, but they still built their giant planet-wide food court there.

Alternatively, you can just have the planet be made of food for no obvious reason and have the player suspend their belief. It can be fun to design a culture around highly improbable living conditions that affect their development, much like how cultures IRL are influenced by their environments. You'll probably want to avoid lampshading this too much since having the characters take the setting seriously makes the story seem more sincere.

Alternately: you could argue that the planet was formed around an "infinite food generation machine" made by an ancient civilisation that went haywire, creating the planet around it. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 3.
Little Mac is a very odd character to me, I don't see him personally as BAD, but I do feel like to master him you need to treat playing as him as his own "game" since he functions so differently from any other Smash Bros fighter. Maybe he is low tier since people just having been using him wrong. It's always something to think about.
What is even the purpose of Ness' PK Flash in Smash Bros, like what does this move bring that PK Fire doesn't bring. With Lucas' PK Freeze you have a distinct purpose as an edge guarding tool, something his PK Fire isn't as good as doing. I'm just asking since I am making a list of attacks I don't want in my Platform Fighter, and PK Flash may be one of those moves.

In my opinion a special move is considered useless if it does something that is outclassed by another special. Like people say how Little Mac Rising Uppercut is useless since it's a terrible recovery, but I feel like it makes up for that by being a fantastic combo ender. Meanwhile moves like Eggdozer and Rollout can offer some good burst movement options if used correctly. If a special has a specific strength over other specials then I don't consider it useless. PK Flash is one of the few exceptions, it does NOTHING better compared to Ness' other moves since its outclassed as a projectile by PK Fire, and as an edge guarding tool by PK Thunder.
I think the funniest way to make a joke guest character is to have then be legitamtly viable with a well designed moveset
So what makes a shoto character a shoto character, is that a dumb question?
Hey, I decided to rework my Hypermax Meter mechanic in Sigma Busters to make it more nuanced and I wanted some feed back on that idea.
Do you guys think mii brawler is so underused despite having high tier potential is due to just being a boring character to main personality wise, like I see a bunch of people main Ganondorf due to liking his character despite being dog water, same with Kirby, K Rool, and Dedede to an extent, so I imagine the inverse is true to mii brawler, they are good, just boring character wise.
