Yeah, Tom said that Ice barely won any games.... Ice is a nice guy, but perhaps a lil overhyped (I'm being nice when I say a lil as well). Another example of smashboards blowing someone out of proportion because of youtube videos.

Yea under the new criteria I think Hailey is the best Marth main.

the only reason i follow this thread is because i LOVE playing marth and he is hella fun but I dont have the balls to play him in tourny because, why the **** would i play marth when i already use falco/fox. Marth adds nothing for me other than pure fun, his matchups are all really "meh"

Falco's don't have to be patient of your technique and spacing is good enough you can apply so much pressure. Not to mention patience for you is pretty safe considering it requires shooting lasers from half a mile away.
For the most part Marth being patient means dash dancing while getting laser camped, pill camped, needle camped, fireball camped, turnip camped...etc. The only time you can drastically change a match by waiting is against Falcon and Ganon. Since they can't do **** to you either.

Just to kinda clear his name....Hack decided to go all Kirby in pools for funsies. He just didn't care hah. Hack turned into my favorite smasher here, just a cool funny smart guy. I loved ****ing around with him all 3 days.

yeah that's the thing. I was sparring with one of my fellow crew members on saturday and we were playing marth vs ganon. On PS i was literally moving marth so fast that he couldn't keep up (i really wish it had been recorded)... Then he went falco on the same stage, ran away and shot lasers. No more fast movement for me, i was busy jumping, shielding, and getting hit for trying to fight back lol ****ing bird. (i still won most of the matches lol)
@ the ice discussion: the only thing that impressed me about ice were his super smooth movement and his powershielding. He did pretty good against zhu in the crew battle too, but yeah he had an underwhelming performence.

Learn how to deal with lasers instead of constantly complaining about them. They're really, really good, but far from unbeatable.

while i actually agree with this, i also agree with what beat said. I'm far more concerned with avoiding the 60 + percent combos that falco can do. *shrugs* without those lasers the combos would be nutered a bit in effectivness but they'd still existyou should have been. It's ****ing funny but true. I think if Lasers were banned Falco would fall to mid tier instantly.

Where is your sense of humor? My Complaining about falco is purely based on humor combined with a few facts that is all. Someone told me to be more patient. I was just...well exaggerating the truth but it's still true. Falco can be patient because he can camp everyone in this game to DEATH. Marth patience means free abuse by anyone with a projectile. Even the likes of Doc, Spamus, Link, Sheik, Pika/pichu. As the game has evolved the lack of projectile is really starting to hurt Marth more than any of the other non-projectile characters except maybe Ganon because he's slow as balls. It can be overcome though, You just need that level 9 CPU reflect game :D

I agree. In fact everytime Armada beats M2K's Marth it's been a stitch, dot eyed, or Bomb that made the most difference....Without it Marth could space camp you for DAYS. Marth is a *** though...so maybe he deserves it.

I really wish peaches turnips werent random, I don't think she should have bombs or stitches, oh well nothing to do about it now I guess.

Grab the damn stitch like a man. Never understood why people adviced against trying to grab the stitch, it's not like it is harder or anything. Perhaps they mean because peach isn't going to throw it at a time where you can grab it anyway? lol, idk.
Same with bombs I guess, though I suppose they might be a little harder to grab, but stitchfaces really aren't.

Armada's marth is a beast. He should be at least top 2.

Complaing about a char that clearly have a lot of potentical is not the way for anyone here to become the best Marth player and prove what the char can do.
Realize your mistakes is what helps you to improve not to complain like a lot of players here seems to do. What MUs are so ****ing terrible that makes Marth so bad?
I really have no idea that's why Im asking. Go back practice harder and hopefully someone here will prove a lot of people wrong here.

There are no MUs that are terrible for Marth actually. Marth just get's comboed harder in some MUs more than others. Marth's worst MU is 50-50, and screw all of you that think otherwise.
The only way M2K would win with Marth would be if he got an all fox bracket. Apart from that, he's going to switch character at some point. He loves Marth, but he's lost confidence with certain MU's because he's been playing the character the same way since 2006.Do you guys think if M2K got a catching consistency equal to what Taj was doing at G2, do you think that would have helped some matches at all?
The reason people say 'Marth sucks' is because we've all been trying to mimic m2k for the longest, and that's what the vs marth meta has been for 4+ years now. We are playing into their hands!!!
Armada, what do you think Marths are doing wrong? I myself feel frustrated by Marth's delay in the current metagame. I feel like other characters have improved, but Marth more or less has stayed the same and is suffering because of it.

This is kind of how most people feel. Rather you are as good as M2K, Slightly worse, slightly better If you go 100% Marth at a tournament your odds of winning aren't that great anymore. It's not that he has so many solid counters it's just that he has so many close Match-ups. I mean in most cases when you see someone vs Fox/Falco you kind of assumed the Spacies will win. Marth it's like...I don't know...I hope they don't hit him in the foot.(Aim for the foot it kills Marth like Achilles).
It's been said a few times but it's not a complaint it is simply a fact. Back when Wife was the big peach name most a few people (lambchops for example) often said she wasn't perfected yet. Armada has put in alot of work to nearly perfect her....the problem is Marth's already been near perfected. there is no new AT's. Nothing new can be invented with him. There is no secrets he's an open book and everyone's read him. Marth players as well as those fighting against him. That's the Major problem I feel. If we could somehow erase all knowledge of Marth from everyone's brain you might see a Marth win a national again.
I personally like Marth and will continue to play him but realistically it doesn't matter who the best Marth is anymore. As other players hit near or close to the human cap of play for their characters....Marth just becomes more and more ordinary in comparison. Not to mention when more players start camping or playing to win I can see Marth getting timed out by young link
