Well I only use R so that I can UpB OoS, and I use X when I want to short hop.
So yeah. I can still short hop with the R button you just press the edge of it, and dont make it click

BUT i can still tell you that I think quite a few people take the springs out of their R or L button, I don't know if this would make it easier to short hop though but...

From my research, the removing of the springs only helps to shield better (probably because it means there's either less resistance or less gap between the actual button and the thing you press, making the shielding a split second quicker)... I actually think having the spring there would benefit the SH more as it'll push the button away quicker than if the spring wasn't there :p

Anyway, I just wanted to know because if I can learn to control my jumps with the L-button I can do a ****load more with aerials and stuff, and I won't have to move my thumb at the speed of light to jump -> c-stick :p So far, even with the 50/50 full/short hop chance, the extra control over my aerials I have feels great :p

I think the only people with springs removed in the whole of aus are me shaya and toby.
it makes powershielding way easier imo but it sucks balls for melee

Do you guys know what this all reminds me off?

In the grand finals at Squat how Ted was so close to wining where he side smashed Shaya but Shaya shielded it hell quickly and then quickly forward smashed ted's wario with a tipper LOL. It was the no spring which led shaya to win after all!

I doubt it makes a huge diffrence though. I don't think removing a spring would be against the rules though only 3 people use it so it doesn't matter anyway.

Nah I think the almighty earl has the springs out aswell as his team mate nicks, I'm not 100% sure though.....

And so many people use x or y to SH I have no idea why....it's easier to just SH with the joystick IMO. I used to have L set to special, probs worst idea ever.

I only short hop with the stick out of shield, otherwise I just do it with x. This is because you can do the aerial IMMEDIATELY with the c-stick because you don't have to move your right thumb from x to the c-stick.

I always double jump with the stick too

For me, trying to jump while moving forward using the Control Stick is unnecessarily complex when you can map the jump to a different button :p

I use Y to jump so that I can do really quick Nairs by sliding my thumb...

To me it's just a comfort thing using Y to jump, I've always been heavy handed and using tap Jump I usually can't Utilt all that much, plus I've always seen jump as an action, not movement, hence all 4 actions are mapped directly next to each other when needed.

Personal preference right? :p

i use L to fh oos. much easier, less finger tangle, and you can use your thumbs to do other stuff. lucas uses that controller config to zap jump anyway, so im already used to it.

Personally i felt it to be more natural using L for shield and R as jump when i played Peach_ Most people are more instinctive with their right hand due to the nature and evolution of gaming_ Either way it all comes down to training yourself physically and mentally_ I'd still recommend the above mentioned way_ ;)

Only problem with that is that I've been using R as shield since Melee came out... Even now it's second nature for me to do all my shielding with R... Breaking a 7 year habit to see if it's a better control scheme is a little risky and will take A LOT of time :p

Though, if I set R to jump, opponents would have a harder time trying to read me (as even I wouldn't know what the hell was happening xD)... Hmmm, might give it a go after all :p

I miss travs use of nunchuck. Remember at my first tourney sitting down next to a nunchuck wielding bowser player and thinking it would be an easy win lol.

Yeah, was not.

Do an Aniki and play without wavedashing
Tbh, I can't even wavedash properly. I can wd left okay, but wd right is unsecessful.

@Alzi, no because I don't have a "ligit" Gamecube controller, and my Powerwave controller is already ****ed as it is. Need to buy a ligit one sometime.

This tournament there will be a 50 edge grab limit, if you exceed 50 edge grabs you will forfeit the match so be aware.
This has generally been a rule that has only been applied if the match also timed out.
If you were out to implement the 'same rule' as others then <insert something>

otherwise, I'm interested in how often it will be enforced/etc etc.

I also may run a Big Blue side tournament with $1 entry to test Big Blue's flaws and why its banned. I'll record the matches, as well, with commentary, and may or may not upload them after analyzing them. Basically, I'm of the belief that, theory-wise, Big Blue is an a-okay stage, so I intend on testing this. Use whatever character you want to, your main, who you think may be broken, whoever. But, please enter so I can get accurate results. :p
