Thats all I can think off the top of my head.

What the... DoH and Xelic are pretty much the only gay players left of the "old generation" and Xelic wasn't really a part of the truly old generation either. I guess everyone else retired.

Well there are tons more if you're willing to step outside the upper echelons of play, of course.

Don't forget Doll and me.

To be more on topic, what did you guys think of Armada's playstyle? How has it evolved over the years he's been here. I noticed that he makes a lot more mistakes when he's playing in the US compared to when he's in Europe.

watch the deciding match of genesis 1 where mango lands the rest

then watch the deciding match of genesis 2 (also on battlefield)

armada is significantly faster... although that may be because of his opponent's character.

still, the difference in speed in just two years is amazing.

Thank you Based Mimi.
I think Armada is way better than he was at Genesis 1, that goes for Mango and the other top players too. It just looks like they improved... which is scary to think about how people already so good could get even better.

He plays campier and safer now. Just... in general. It's his new personal philosophy.

Armada is very (very, very, very, etc. ) patient. He literally wins most of his matches by sheerly grinding the opponents patience into nothing. Beyond that, he's consistent in both his tech skill (execution, precision) and his decision making. He's one of the best players to come along, ever. AND he plays peach.

I don't play Peach anymore because I'm not Armada and can only hope to emulate him at best.

Decisions I make with Peach are on the whole less effective and occasionally inventive. I'd rather play a character like Falcon who gives me rewards for crazy pivot tech skill and unique ideas.

Awkward, homoerotic... I think of this as an interesting opportunity for greatness. Sure, call me a dreamer, a philanthropic idealist. I think of myself as an innovator. But it's interesting to note the coincidental number of gay Peach mains. I just learned about shine hogging, and now this. This place is something else.

Speaking of Peach dittoes, is down throw viable/good at all in Peach dittoes? I kind of feel like it might CG at weird percents, but I have not tested this at all, and haven't cared to.

Dthrow chain grabs almost every non-fast faller if they dont DI behind you. In peach dittos, if they DI behind you its a free dash attack. Its your best throw if you're not trying to kill them/camp.

At high %s dthrow>uair is a great kill on peach/jiggs/samus, but it won't hit if they DI hard to the side. (courtesy of Mafia)

Okay, I see. That makes sense. It looked that way, but I didn't know that much about it in terms of floaties.

I watched that teams match. D'oH/Wobbles vs Hax/Hbox, and I must say that that was the greatest first match I've ever seen. I am now on the Hbox bandwagon (with the 4 other people). Simply amazing.

The only reason I play Peach is cuz she's similar to Ness. =/

I kinda regret picking her. I should've picked Shiek, but there are some things with Shiek I'm really bad at (tech chasing from d-throw and using Needles) which are vital to her game and it's kinda too late to learn them now.

I didn't know I was either. I play Fox so there's no way I'm gay :troll: :troll:

that's a pretty good idea but why uair? if you dthrow at high percents and they don't DI to the side, you can just usmash which kills at lower percents and trade if the peach/jiggs/samus try to aerial out. I just feel like going for uair gives them a higher likelihood of escaping or even hitting you.

LOOOL at the first part. Sheik's a pretty fun and easy character to learn so I don't really think it's too late for you to learn how to be good with her. if anything you can have a pocket Sheik or something.

Peach is similiar to Ness? Now that I think about it, that's a rather accurate (if at the same time funny) statement.

I used to down throw a lot in Brawl, cause it's good there, and it seems to be pretty good here, too.

If they dont DI after the down throw there is almost no reason to upair them. Upsmash kills them so easily at such low percents that its damn near cheating (but not really cuz they were dumb and didnt DI).

If they have a chance to jump out, then their percent should be high enough to a Fthrow kill.

Edit: I try to catch on to whether or not they know how to DI the downthrow by getting some dthrows in early game. If I noticed they cant DI it, Dthrow-Upsmash becomes my go to weapon for the kill. I've noticed that its mostly shiek players that dont know how to DI it.

Just think about all their moves and they only ones that are different in terms of use are d-tilt, d-smash and the specials.

I mean, not really. lol. The timing on almost all of the aerials are way different, so you have to approach everything at diff. times, and both characters are heavy aerial users ... I dunno, it just doesn't feel the same to me. -shrug- Maybe its cause all I do is spam DJC fair with ness lol.

Just dont care about it and you'll get over it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZzV_-kothU

One thing that I fear effects players too much is the value they hold on their wins. If you care about your wins too much you'll start to inflate your ego, and thats ugly. Then when you start doing poorly, you'll beat yourself up too much over it.

Respect your progress, but at the same time dont let anyones disrespect about it get to you.

wow alan, that link was pretty eye opening, thanks for sharing that.

yeah for sure, i realize that g2 is just ONE tournament, and we both happened to play well. i know consistency is the most important thing, and that im not that good, yet. good ppl have told me that focusing on getting better > results, otherwise it will affect my play and progress. so yeah, thanks again. :)

plus i sucked so bad in singles, which imo matters more lol

If you spend your time thinking about how good you can be, instead of dwelling on how good you are, then you'll see your improvement skyrocket. I try to apply this at EVERYTHING I do in hopes that it will consistently make me better.

Also, never discredit your performance in doubles. While it may not matter as much to you as singles does, placing high in doubles can be a BIG confidence booster, and confidence matters everywhere.

To add to this thing about "Progress", I find the most detrimental thing one can do in general is to simply take results at face value. With anything; tournament placement, strategy success rate, certain new tactics, etc.

It is so important to try and, when self-reflecting in the interest of improving, consider not just that something worked but why something worked. "Why?" is an extremely important question. In my local community we have so many players with reasonable or decent potential but it's largely squandered because they lack the ability to consider why something is occurring. Or, if they do, it's always so riddled with a terrifyingly consumptive self-serving bias it's almost more damaging than if they just accepted it without thinking about it.

It can be very hard to do this, but once you start thinking as objectively as you can about your game, you'll find you'll notice strengths you never had, and you'll also find weaknesses you can fix. It's so useful to be a good critic of yourself; because you know your game better than just about anyone.

lol dude welcome to youtube.
omg, on me vs SS from g2, someone said something like "wow, didn't think even a rusty SS would play down to this level" give or take

i was like DAMN, WHO DIS ***** THINK HE IS????? and then i was like siiiiiigh, this is why i should stop reading youtube comments

the best thing to do is talk to your friends and laugh at the youtube noobs (right connor???)

also sup, first time getting online in like a week, checked facebook last night, now this. can't believe i read most of those posts. i keep getting blamed for taj vs mango, it's hella funny. i woulda made mango through me the set though, cause how hilarious would "genesis winners finals, armada vs macd" have sounded?

then johnny ***** me in losers :(

beat axe first round, so i've only lost to him once now. beat fly right after (hellllla hard, got better at the match up with IC's or something, then tried camping me with sheik and almost won... and i bet most people are going to discredit my win because "peach vs ic's is EZ mode" )

the better you get, the more you get used to stupid things people say
