USA vs The World at Apex

I'd practice really hard to be considered for crews.

I personally don't see USA being imba... there are a lot of hidden bosses outside the US.



But we have two IC players ready to take 8 stocks each so ionno.

The trouble is that not all of them can make it to Apex. While USA might be missing a few players who might be considered for the crew, everyone else is trying to make the best crew out of the people going.

Well that's because EC had no Ganons for the ICs. =P And anyways I just learned yesterday that it's going to be character locked no matter what so there may be an actual chance for the world now. I didn't know that before.

Regional crews is way better than USA vs. the world.

If it honestly comes down to USA vs. the world I'd rather just play friendlies or something. I have almost zero interest in participating in that crew battle.

but yeah, I'd personally prefer 6 region (MW, Canada, EC, WC, South, Euro + Japan) five man crews, but I doubt we have time. That'd be some Canada Cup stuff.

Regional crews PLEASE, I know for a fact that Armada and lots of others won't even think about participating in USA vs the world.

EC/WC/Canada/Europe will be 200x more interesting.

THIS. SO MUCH THIS. I think we can add a fifth crew of "Rest of the World" also. Mexico + Japan unite?

If I'm not mistaken, there'll be two from Mexico and 3 from Japan. Not really enough for a crew. And there'll probably be enough players for a South Coast at this, much like they had a the original Genesis.

Hey guys,

The USA Vs the World exhibition was pushed through in order to showcase as many top player talents as possible within a small time frame. As you all know Melee will be the only game on the stream Friday and we want to make it worthwhile for not only the people in person but the people on stream.


For us to do regional crews we have to establish crew captains, set the number of people per crew, and organize it on one setup where everyone can see. At this point in time, based on our schedule, it is not possible to do so. Many suggest we do it on Saturday but Saturday , other than the setups for free play, will all be Brawl setups. It would not be streamed or even have a projector.

The USA vs the World will happen. If it comes to a point where no one is interested in it there will be no exhibition at Apex for Melee. I am sure DrPP and Amsah/Armada can make some great teams for this.

Exhibit top player talent? But isn't that the purpose of the Singles bracket?

There are several downsides to this crew battle you're proposing.

1. It is not an interesting crew battle. People don't really enjoy watching matches that they already know the result of. If KK, Armada, Amsah, don't even themselves find this interesting, how much of your audience do you think would enjoy something so pointless?

2. You miss out on seeing quite some talent if this is how you're doing things. The US has way more than 8 players who can compete at this level who are attending the event, and no matter how you slice it, you will end up with people who don't get their time in the limelight.

The USA vs the World will happen. If it comes to a point where no one is interested in it there will be no exhibition at Apex for Melee.

Whoa, what is it with this uncompromising attitude? We get it, you're the tournament organizer, you're free to run the tournament you want to run, but you want to make it worthwhile to watch. That's one of your goals. If that's really what you're after, I'm sure we can reach an appropriate compromise.

I will not get into this but, as I said, we do not have the time to put into doing this. From my experience every time we have tried to do regional crews it has either not happened or people were too lazy to do it. I never had a problem doing this it is more of the effort I have to put in putting this together.

Beyond that fact please realize that we are producing a show. Things need to be done in an orderly fashion. More crews = more time and we are planning to do this during the break of Round 1 pools and Round 2 pools. It just does not seem feasible to do with hundreds players entering. On top of this we will have Pokemon ( which some will enter and matches take 30-1hr long ) and all-brawl. This needs to be organized carefully and every min counts.

I am sorry but that is my take on the situation. People know how to reach me on aim if they wish.

So I was reading earlier comments and I love how people were thinking of people to place on world crews and Canada seemed to slip some peoples minds... were not that bad guy, really, honestly :) XD

I'm all for USA vs. the world, not our fault that other countries need to step their game up.

Also world needs more confidence, lol. I'd say more but I love America too much and have too much confidence in her.
