Hey EL, you mind watching this video and telling me what you think about this Marth? http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=P0CgN35d4r4&feature=related

I'm about to post a video in the "best vids of each character" thread, (for the Olimar player and a different match where he 2 stocked this Marth- 3 stock without a tripping death) but I wanted to make sure this Marth wasn't bad first.

thanks in advance.

Edit: I thought he was pretty good. His DBs>dtilts, grabs, and fairs were impressive imo.I may be wrong though.

Personally DanGR, I thought it was a pretty awesome marth. Well spaced a majority of the time. Good use of defensive and safe camping. I can't speak for EL though.

Eh.

Looks good at first, but when you look closer not so much.

I noticed several things.

1. Blatant disregard for spacing.

2. Didn't punish that well. At one point he forced Olimar on stage and it was an easy kill. He hesitated and went for an f-smash. It was blocked and he was punished.

3. Used DB for shield pressure ALOT when he was at point blank range. This is just a blatant no no.

4. Constantly and I mean CONSTANTLY used first one or two hits of DB as a set-up. This just doesn't work and it should never be done.

5. He tends to run away a bit and give Olimar space. This is not what you want to do.

After the first minute or so he steps it up though and spaces better, but the other stuff still stands.

His juggling is a little too aggressive and he lets Olimar back to the ground fairly easily almost every time. Also , Olimar is living a bit too long. Past 150 is a bit much for Olimar in this match-up. Needs to step up that edgeguarding game.

Overall, I would say this Marth is decent. Not bad, but not good either.

He's one of, if not the best players in Brazil. But definitely don't put him in the best vids of each character thread, his marth at least.

no, no, no. I was going to nominate the Olimar player, but for a different match. I just wanted to know whether the Marth player was decent or not. Wait a sec, I'll get the vid.

It's not spectacular, but it's better than the one that's currently representing what Olimar can do.

I didn't want to post a vid versus a loser, if that makes sense.

The problem is that Marth has an advantage in the match-up. If the Marth is great or amazing, Olimar would have to be ridiculously amazing to actually still win. Having a "good" marth should suffice, since finding a great Marth battling a ridiculously amazing Olimar that wins will be a good deal tougher to find. I figured that's what you meant when you said you were going to add it, I thought the Marth would be fine since in the end he's supposed to be good, but not AS good as the olimar player.

There was a thread about that in the ... I think it was the tournament section, where he claimed to have "proof" that Melee Marth is the best character. Most ppl answered, that Sheik is the best, with fox being potentially the best. However, that doesn't explain why Marth won most tourneys...

...I think we agreed, that both 3 are equally good and that it's impossible to say, who's the best of them

I would put it like this:

The best character were easily Marth and Shiek hands down. I don't think Fox is as good as niether of them. In my personal opinion Shiek is the best with Marth being a very, very close 2nd. I'll score them.

10.) Shiek
9.8.)Marth

Then I would say there's a bit of a drop off.

9.5.)Fox and Falco.

But my opinion on this isn't to great.
