What name aren't we supposed to say? Brawl? Is it Brawl we're not supposed to mention? I hope it's not Brawl because Brawl is a fun word and it's fun to type "Brawl", especially when I mention that it's technically one of our descendants and therefore "Super Smash Bros Brawl".
My brawl Sheik made my Melee Sheik better.. somehow.

I learned how to fight as if i could only kill my opponent at 200+ percent.

unless I switch to Zelda, of course.

Prior to pluck:

When she pulls it, grab her. Or walk forward throwing needles at her pluck animation. Or dash attack her during her pluck animation.

Post pluck:

If she lobs it at you from the air I just run my Nair through it and hit them. Unless it's a stitch. In which case... actually I still do that. But if it's a bomb or stitch, don't do that.

If she does it on the ground I don't know just don't get hit by it and don't let her get free hits for picking ******** defensive strategies (for instance, while it is okay for FJ rising Fair going back to hit them, don't do that every time and invite her to jump after you with her bigger Fair. Stay fresh and stay safe. Because you're Sheik, you can do both).

The stitchface and the dot eyed one are the only really noticeably different ones.

Personally, I camp close to Peach. Far enough away so she can't immediately hit you (her dash attack give her a little boost of speed, but the rest of her attacks don't move her very quickly), but close enough so that she can't comfortably pull a turnip without getting grabbed/dash attacked.

I seem to have a memory in the back of my head that a ftilt will effectively deflect a turnip upwards. Is that correct?

Depends on how jiggs spaces it.

If you know jiggs is gonna float away before you can hit her I'd WD out and grab (especially if i played NTSC)

how do you get good at knowing which combos to look for at what %'s?

is it worth testing combos in training mode to get estimations of when to use certain combos?
(even tho no DI)

my mate was telling me with marth he knows approx. which %'s he can do certain combos and what to look for. how do you get to that level quicker then having alot of experience and playing for like 3 years?

anyone got %'s approx. for combos on each of the high tier chars (melee pal) ?

1) Experience. the more you practice, the more often you'll find yourself in familiar situations. You will naturally have a good response to certain events.

2) Not really. "Legit" combos rarely ever happen in smash. Most combos only happen because the opponent did not DI correctly or because of a tech chase. And the C-stick isn't set to smash attacks in single player mode.. LAME

3) Play against Marth exclusively for a couple of hours.

4) I can't help you with this.

Experience, as vanz said, is really the biggest thing. I don't know off the top of my head which characters I can CG, but just from playing Sheik for so long as soon as I do the d-throw I know whether or not I can regrab the person, or if I should tilt, fair, or uair.

Sheik's combos are really basic so you'll learn the percents pretty quickly.

If you get a grab, always d-throw, and then look for regrab, utilt/ftilt, or if they are a floaty or at high percents then uair or fair. Against some characters, ganon, look for usmash if they don't di also.

If you get a tilt, look for another tilt or a grab if they di towards you. If they DI away look for dash attack maybe or read their tech and get a regrab or dash attack. DI away though is the correct DI and often hard to punish though. At higher percents tilt -->fair or uair is reliable.

After a dash attack against spacies if they DI almost any direction except directly above you look for another dash attack. If they DI right above you can often get a utilt which leads to more tilts, or fair, or grab.

It's all really situational, but those are the basics. Focus on those and you'll start to see when you can use other moves and you'll just know by where they go instead of their percents.

sheik has some really intricate combos, though most people just settle for the basics ~_~

Explaining said combo's to people who are just starting out though is oftentimes too much for them to grasp.

Intricate sheik combos? NO WAY!

I enjoy bank's sheik combos quite a bit. Triple d-tilt ftw.

haha. what am I supposed to watch nowadays?

m2k plays brawl / no sheik vids really since genesis or lolis which doesn't count.
tec doesn't main sheik exclusively. Causing his sheik to still be mad good, but not as creative as it once was. IMO obviously.
Vanz I haven't seen much of his sheik lately.
Your set with scar was good. vs Chu though is pretty boring because your forced to play wildly safe. Still very helpful as I hate the IC's, but the combo's aren't the high point.
KDJ doesn't play.

Those are my top 5 sheiks and I've watched all their vids from the last year way too much because as you say they all went into hiding. So I watched some banks vs mogwai or something and it made me laugh.

What kind of intricate sheik combo's do you speak of though?

lol i suck at the forum life.

Really though, sheik's have gone into hiding. I'm too hyped for all the sheik's to be full force at pound4 and to see them first hand.

Yeah KK and Kira are good too. KK hasn't has that many recent vids though I don't think. Kira's recent set where he almost beat zhu was good. Or did he? I don't recall.

Shoulda watched the livestream of Pat's House tournament in SD. Kira had a couple of sets on the livestream i believe. There were actually quite a bit of sheiks there. And isnt Vanz going to revival of melee 2? Least thats what i heard. And sadly enough m2k has said hes maining Marth not sheik. so. I suppose your right.

Actually my sheik just recently got 4 stocked by Magus's gnw on FD.

God I'm so good at this game

And Vanz is definitely goin to RoM 2 btw. Considering he is my teammate and all for the event ;)

M2K will lose randomly to a Fox or Falco with Sheik because his control stick was too calibrated to the left or not calibrated to the left enough and therefore couldn't tech chase from grab as effectively as he wanted and then go back to Marth.
