Just serious lols at people randomly hyping other nationals in the wake of this SNAFU, a large number of players barely have enough money to go to 2 of these things a year and the notable ones that do attend regularly tend to make their money off of these events in the first place.

To state what I agree with on the matter of personal accountability and lack of forethought seems pretty obvious.

Stating that this is gambling in any legally liable sense would apply to any place that runs a fantasy sports league, a tournament of any kind or even a raffle (the last of which is probably the most affected by dumb luck, which the legal definition of gambling tends to focus on). That reasoning wouldn't hold and least of all result in any kind of enforcement since outside of MLG these are player run events, what kind of person with any actual political or law enforcement clout would even care to pay enough attention to the smash community for it to reflect poorly on us?

There are a few THOUSAND dollars that went missing from doubles AND singles in BOTH GAMES! I can't imagine the frustration of the people that actually placed 1st in events becuase now they are out several THOUSAND DOLLARS! I know Ally placed around 1000, but ****, Melee had like 2x the people, so PP won around 2k. The audacity of you, ****er, to host things and get people from OUT OF THE COUNTRY to come, and then not even have a chance at being paid back for the trip? **** YOU!!! I only made 280 total, but people FOR SURE made anywhere from 350-2500 dollars (Doubles too) and you are just taking that away? I can't ****ing believe this.

I don't give a **** how good of a person you are, or what "intentions" you have, because none of that ****ing matters. There is some Gaming law that protects us...Fino linked it to me but this was a LONG time ago. I may be wrong, but I doubt it has changed.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. If a Tournament organizer ever needs to get a raincheck on paying you, get a written contract in regards to the date they must pay you, the amount to be tendered, with their real name, address, and a witness.
