Are you interested in submitting a video? I put instructions on how to do that in the first post. For anyone who submits a video, its up to them if they want to show anyone else before voting begins.

And I haven't recieved any e-mailed submissions yet. I hope people are working on them!

people can submit any kind of combo video they want. The top 5 will be a vote by members so if you have an idea, there's no harm in giving it a shot.

We will be able to allow one of the top five slots be a brawl+ vid. But because of certain issues we can't choose it for the grand prize.

Ok so, I'm currently working on a combo video, it's only Brawl atm. However, I was thinking about making it half Brawl and half Brawl+. I've made Melee/Brawl combo videos in the past and I really liked how the two sort of came together in the video. Now that I am a huge supporter of both Brawl and Brawl+, I really like the idea of seeing both of them. I can sort of show off the best parts of both games in this aspect. Additionally, every combo in the video would be performed by the same character, so it would be really interesting to sort of see how the character excels in Brawl, and how he excels in Brawl+ since his gameplay is quite different.

Essentially what I'm getting at is, can a Brawl/Brawl+ video make it to the grand prize. It would be in the form of like first half of Brawl, second half of Brawl+, with a clear distincition when the clips change to the other game.

im not making one, so ill just give all you kids a hint. This video is going to represent this website, and they mainly want to attract the largest audience possible. They arent interested in attracting ssb64 players cuz no one plays that game and theres a very small audience. The main audience would be brawlers, with a decent amount of melee'ers too. So that means the winning video is obviously going to consist of both melee and brawl combos. Its obviously going to be flashy as hell, and probably consist of flashy combos that we've all watched a hundred times (like wombo combo), and probably wont limit itself to one or a few characters.

remember this video is just an advertisement scheme, nothing more. There's a perk for winning first prize, but remember they are a business. play by the rules and you'll have a much better shot than if u simply try to submit an original combo video of ur g&w beating up on high tiers.

Just because some smash communities are bigger doesn't mean the other communities doesn't exist.

An actual smashboards community video would have videos from all smash vids. This means the top n64, melee, brawl, and maybe brawl+ videos.

IMO a Smashboards Combo Vid would be 64 -> Melee -> Brawl -> Brawl+ "preview shots"

So 64 combos, shift to Melee combos, shift to Brawl, then at the end do something like greyscale to a few short Brawl+ clips.

however i think that if you were going to put smash 64 first, some melee footage should be used at the beginning of the video as a "hook" to draw in viewers.

only problem there being how would in qualify in terms of winning the competition, if brawl+ and 64 are ruled out of winning.

I personally think that a smashboards combo video should just flow from melee to brawl, as jfox suggested i believe.

JV, instead of limiting Brawl+ and Smash 64 to one spot each in the top 5 (which could possibly restrict the so-called 'top 5' to 3 spots), why not simply list the 10 videos with the most votes, regardless of game, and then select the top 5 Melee/Brawl videos for final judgement?

there was just a ssb64 tourney this past saturday. even tho i didnt go, im pretty sure there were atleast 10 very skillful players there

If you mean CGC XII, then there were about 10 Smash 64 players, but one of them was Isai...

I can't wait for the day people both casual and core look at the game for it's mechanics rather than graphics.

I have a dream...that one day my children will not be judged by their favorite smash game, but by the contents of their meta game....

The definition of a combo is "an inescapable chain of moves." A lot of so-called "Melee combos" are very escapable, & are mostly just tech-chases mixed in with short, simple combos. Really, Melee has very few "real combos," especially when compared to virtually every other competitive fighting game...& Smash 64.

However, that's part of what makes Melee/Brawl "combos," "combo videos," & matches so fun & unique. It's so thrilling to watch the classic cat & mouse chase.

A tech chase is inescapable if you do it right. The Whole point is predicting where they're teching and hitting them before they're character can do anything.

This is comprised of almost all "real" combos.
