I don't know any Wolf player other than PMC that overrates the character. Actually, I hardly ever see anybody except him and Seagull talk about Wolf outside of the Wolf boards to begin with.

BSP has it right there is more evidence for Lucas>Mario in the tier list.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think it's interesting. Where in that analysis do you disagree, exactly?

Imo, Mario is the better character by a little bit when comparing tools, strengths, weaknesses, etc, but if youre taking results into account (which the tier list does) Lucas easily surpasses him as Mario has done literally nothing noteworthy in ages.

imo mario doesnt even have the ability to catch people off guard even if theyve never played him, so you really have to be better than the other guy, because he doesnt even have ways to gimmick matches off of people.

Yea FLUDD is pretty crummy against most recoveries because it won't push people that are invincible and any hitbox will clash with it (which most recoveries have).

You can shoot it at some moves to get people stuck in hitlag so you can land a free hit, but its not a big deal...

Keep in mind, FLUDD is still going to hit you during the startup and cooldown of your airdodge, so you will still get pushed a little, but while you are invincible it won't push you at all.

You probably won't be able to airdodge through it with most characters simply because there isn't enough invincibility to get past a series of hitboxes that lasts like....over an entire second?

Honestly, there's little uses for F.L.U.D.D. that I've seen outside of off-stage shenanigans, which Mario doesn't excel at either. The only thing worth noting is that F.L.U.D.D. can push Ike away from the stage if the water hits his sword during Aether. Other than that, Mario is a very unremarkable character, even by low tier standards.

If at some point in your recovery you lose Directional Influence over your character (ie startup of Fire Fox), you need to keep Fludd in mind.

Otherwise, it's pretty easily dealt with.

@Ryker - Mario might seem a little better on paper, but tbh his results are just ****. You can argue the theory all day, but when it comes to making **** happen, Mario just falls short of so many characters, including Lucas.

Maybe overall Mario is in fact better, but until we see it, we can't just give him the benefit of the doubt while Lucas actually does things in tournament.

Mario's only noteworthy gimmick is Cape, which can actually be pretty evil if the player is good at it and the opponent isn't expecting it. It's a gimmick, so it's hardly consistent, but it's a much more versatile gimmick than Fludd, which is pretty butt. A friend of mine plays mario and I've honestly never seen him make any use of Fludd. He gets me with cape every once in awhile though, and it's infuriating to get your recovery flipped around.

I remember watching a video of Terry's Mario where he used Cape to create some interesting pressure mix-ups that I hadn't seen before, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Mario is probably like bottom 5 in this game. His only decent / evenish match-ups are Pikachu, Lucario, Sonic, Sheik, Yoshi, Ness, Luigi, Samus, Bowser, Falcon, Puff, Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. Everything else is clearly in the opponent's favor and Falcon is the only character that truly loses to Mario.

And atomsk called me an idioti :/ at least i have the sense not to main D3 in todays meta game .

Mario beats Ganondorf IMO and he beats Zelda Link is +1 but Ganon is probably +2 charged Fludd can really criplle Ganondorf if used right, heck if you have it charged and you fire it at him on stage he will go 3/4 of the way on FD, that and take cape into account and the fact mario has vastly better options he owns Ganon lol

Whether or not Mario is bad enough to be bottom 5 is splitting hairs at this point. He's somewhere between bottom 7-5, so it doesn't really matter, lol.

Most of the Mario mains I'm sure still play him because they don't feel like picking anyone else up (at least Xero and I do it, steep is still optimistic somehow). Can we go back to talking about Falco/Marth/Snake/mid tier flavor of the week?

I believe that Mario is better than all of the characters below him in this current list besides Bowser. Though my opinion seems to be different from the other mario mains (Well I recently dropped him competitively so I guess he is my ex-main now)

Bowser is better than Mario for sure. Link is probably better. Samus might be better too.

Bowser vs. Mario? I'd say Bowser has the upper hand mostly because his attacks can out-range just about anything Mario throws at him. That's not saying too much though, since once Mario is able to get in, he can rack up some fairly good damage. Sadly, Mario's most effective way of killing is by gimping, at least in the Bowser MU (among others), and we all know how mediocre his gimping game is, even with the cape.
