I would like a real post telling me how shield pressure isn't rock paper scissors.
Shield pressure has way more than 3 possible scenarios... Not only do you have a lot of different timings, but you have different move choices, different actions to take when you land (shine/jab to protect yourself, grab, dash away, dash through them, etc), and different spacings for all of that. Even something as simple as pressuring on the back of someone's shield instead of the front or pressuring them by the ledge or on a platform instead of in the center of the stage completely changes the types of options each player can utilize or expect from their opponent.

So yeah, shield pressure is not literally RPS.

Well if you want to sound real smart and just assume that I was implying that shield pressure has the same amount of scenarios AS rock paper scissors, please be smart enough to realize rock paper scissors has more than three also...

I was not implying that, I was implying that nothing is perfect, and you have to consistently change your shield pressure to be effective.

"Shield pressure is rock paper scissors" implies that shield pressure is a straight guessing game (i.e. 100% prediction, 0% reaction) in which both the pressurer and the pressuree (forgive my English) have equal chances of success. This is wrong for 2 reasons: 1. there's a heavy reaction element involved; you can bait mistakes out of the opponent (and even that is an oversimplification), and 2. shield pressure done well favors the person executing the shield pressure.

I would add that in RPS the reward for using any option is the same as using any other option at least in theory. But the rewards for hitting different things vary during shield pressure, which tweaks the risk-reward model of using each option.

If you say something is literally something else, that usually means they're identical (Falco's bair is literally the same as Fox's bair, Luigi's misfire is literally random). And I obviously was talking about options per player, not overall scenarios. If you just said that they were similar because some options counter others, then I wouldn't have disagreed at all, but comparing it to a guessing game is really misleading.

Whatever, this is a dumb disagreement.

The reaction argument makes a big difference, I agree there. I guess I just need to work more on my shield pressure. I focus a lot on prediction and mixing it up. In that aspect I find it similar to rps, but I guess I just suck at shield pressure. Glad I had this discussion with you guys.

Well also playing 100% consistent in tournament is ******** hard.. sometimes you'll get 1 bad game.. sometimes you'll get 2 in a row.. you never know.

it should never be a whole game if you're training correctly

that's 4 tries in one game with multiple exchanges per try where is your mind for all of that

Maybe if you are too good sure.. That insane consistency can only be done by you guys. Those multiple exchanges can end up really bad on a lot of the occasions.

No worries. Play fox for an hour and your new joystick will fall off again, just like a normal fox controller.

I'm just making a buch of little mistakes on what seems to be every action. I'm not playing the way I usualy/want to play. It's mad dumb. It's more the frame of my top then anything I think that I'm not used to.

What should I do after I shined Marth? Usually I do Down-tilt or Nair but it does not always connect.
And what is Fox's approach other than Nair or JC Grab? And how do I laser Marth without getting punished for it? I always get combo'd consistently but this is probably the knowledge I lack.

I can't get shine-->side B to work on luigi in training mode. Do you shine, jump, side B, or shine, WD, side B? How close to perfect do you have to be?
