Ricky, Doc definitely has the best matchup vs. Jiggs in the game. I played terribly vs. Hbox in tourney. I missed a free rest punish, handled the last stock on PS terribly and just in general played way too aggressively. There were a number of moments where I would land a quick 2 hit combo and should've just reset and gone back to playing like a homo. Instead I opted go for a fair or some dumb **** and would get ***** for it.

Idk, I think DJ played the matchup much better then me. Now granted, he's like the most homo player on the planet, so he's destined to do well vs. campy Jiggs, but a big part of why he did well was because of the audience trolling Hbox so hard during those matches. He literally couldn't stop laughing and put the controller down at multiple points in the set. Still 2-0ed him tho.
Well when you're right, you're right. I still say Fox has the better offense vs Jiggs though. Doc doesn't has the speed or attack range to destroy Puff like Fox can. I guess Doc can defend himself better while he's recovering and punishes Rests better.

You guys should watch me get ***** by hungrybox on prog's channel.
Watched it. You did aight. I don't know what you did differently when you played hbox in friendlies, but I can safely say you got hit with some rests you have no business with getting hit by.

Like the first one.

In all seriousness, I dont think I can remember ever getting hit with an u.tilt rest as doc. You gotta have the reaction to smash DI up and away and jump.

Other than that, you really just got out maneuvered by jiggs.
doc is supposed to counter jiggs

what the hell
Yeah, it's called a case of either hbox being good at a bad matchup or otg being bad at a good matchup.

That exists, but you can't explain that to melee players for whatever reason...

.. THAT'S RIGHT BECAUSE THIS GAME, ALL RULES CONSIDERED, IS THE MOST COUNTERPICK HEAVY GAME IN THE WORLD LOLOLOL.

Doc only counters a Jiggs that misses Rests, not any player like HungryBox who's godly at landing Rests.
Na, matchups dont work like that.

And by your logic, nothing counters a kirby that can land kirbicides. Point being, it's not like he specifically EARNED those rests.
Yeah, too bad the matchup aint that cut-n-dry for Doc now in the current metagame. I'd beast HungryBox no problem if landing a few pills and a couple of aerials, then d-throw->f-air were that easy.
It's not so bad if you're willing to use the 8 minute clock. Don't see why you want to rush into a character with a 1 hit KO.
Ricky, Doc definitely has the best matchup vs. Jiggs in the game.
Quoted in agreement, not entirely for truth.

Every once in a while I still have this idea that Y.Link does better, but we'll never know since there'll never be that good of a y.link.

... I also still have my crack theory 'bout ness.

Still 2-0ed him tho.
i mean sure, you can blame it on crowd heckling, but DJN definitely is the most willing out of all of us to use the clock.

Well when you're right, you're right. I still say Fox has the better offense vs Jiggs though. Doc doesn't has the speed or attack range to destroy Puff like Fox can. I guess Doc can defend himself better while he's recovering and punishes Rests better.
and there arent a crapton of rest setups that really work on Doc.

Just n.air -> rest. And the generic snipe-your-jump -> rest.

OTG, how did your set vs Hazz go?

Oh yeah, I saw your matches vs Hbox. You did well, but I don't think he was trying that hard (no offence)

Still, because he was on the ground so much in shield, there were a lot of grab opportunities.

Also, I think that you and DJ need to tilt more, and also b-air when Hbox is in the air.

It was aight, hazz and I were both mad nervous and he probably should've stayed Marth tbh.

Yeah, I don't doubt that hbox sandbagged me in friendlies, still it was an interesting experience and I think I have a better idea what to do for next time. I'm still waiting on the wall of rage I know dogy will inevitably post/Im me about.

omg i got melee practice today with will_.

Then I got more later when I took him to go play at this local super scrubby place in town.

He's gunna open up the "Help Dogy get real Melee" foundation. He's gunna try to get a pic of me looking like a starving melee player. It's gunna be lols.

Ok, first and foremost; after watching those, alot can be learned in those matches. Like I've always said, if you know how to watch a Mario and know how it applies to Doc, you can learn just as much, if not more, watching a Mario vid.

__

But real talk.

When I first heard about this new episode of Mango, I laughed to myself. Because really, the game is "this great, this amazing", but he's gotta go this far just to keep himself interested in the game? I mean, doesn't this sound like all of the other "big name pros" who left for other stuff (mainly brawl). And on the off chance they come back for whatever reason, they're still on top?

But instead of taking a few minutes to figure out how I was going to systematically destroy the logic of many and ruin countless peoples' days, I figured I'll just WATCH what happened and take it for face value. No need to try to talk up or down about it, just let people think what they want and go about my business.

And lol.:laugh::laugh:

I'm convinced that Mango literally has (or is) the melee version of the "Jwong effect". Cause I swear that kid gets away with the most absurd bull**** ever that NOBODY else gets on any level of play.

Totally worth the time to watch it. I guess I'm actually not upset at it cause I got to see some "Super Smash Bros. Melee" again instead of this illogical *** "That's not melee" **** people keep screaming about all the time.

____

edit:

@HMW: Don't let anybody try to try to ride you and guilt trip you into playing Doc. Not unless they're willing to pay your expenses to the tourney. You do as you see fit to accomplish whatever in the f*** you paid your money to do. If you gotta run and shoot lasers all day, so be it. It's in the game and if you can do it, do it.

Yeah Waffles, I wish you the best of luck with whatever character you decide to play (Even if it's Marth, lol). I'm only semi-trollin' about wanting you to go Doc. I'm always entertained at seeing Dr. Mario do well though.

Mango's kinda like Jordan.

It'd be intriguing at first if he quit melee to see how vacating the throne would turn out, but ultimately we'd miss him.

Pretty sure Mango got 2nd at that tourney, so he probably loses. I can't watch now cause of ****ty internet.
that don't mean he couldnta put zhu and losers and zhu comes back.

I mean, we've already seen the value of Lovage's recent tech skill vid in the face of the great Scorpion Master. Who's to say the Zhu doesn't get shut down temporarily by a wild Scorpion.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Now, I'm gunna ask this before I say it, do you honestly want my opinion about that?

I've talked to some people about Mango's whole recent situation, and really it's a ½full ½empty, apples oranges kinda-situation. But like, alot of us have shared the same output on the situation.

go back and watch those vids again.

Count how many times mango

1) landed a SS f.smash
2) landed or even attempted a late n.air/u.air
3) Landed an early n.air (be it combo or pressure)
4) capelifted for recovery
5) doraki jump edgeguarded ( or attempted )
6) fireball recovered
7) Went for jab mixups/gimmicks.
8) u.tilted, then followed up with something
9) f.aired and followed up with something (which normally was an u.tilt or a tech chase)
10) etc. etc.

Now then go back and tell me how many times he

1) landed an grab at dunk %s.
2) didn't kill because his backair didnt have enough knock back.

your right dogy, lets all quit doc and pick up mario. :D
... how in the blue hell did you pull your post from mine? Cause I clearly listed differences that mango used.

____

Edit: This **** is turnin out to be some of the biggest bag of lols ever.

It's kinda funny how mango is just doing the same stuff he said years ago and it works with yet another character. He's pretty much proving that people (myself horribly included) overcomplicate this game.

that's why the character specific boards here are ****ing stupid

its just a bunch of noobs thinking in terms of absolutes and assuming that all players are psychic superhumans

getting better and learning what works is personal
