What do you mean by a up up upB?

Isn't this normal?
Normally the quick attack can only move in two separate directions, but occasionally Pikachu can go in the same direction for each

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think anyone has found out how to do it consistently...

IIRC it only works when you do it next to certain ledges/stages and it never helps the pikachu imo
that's exactly what i thought, but look at 1:40 in this video. he wasn't touching the side of the stage or anything. explanations?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmGLWKZTcLw&feature=channel_page

INSANE CRAZY GUY: you know what's funny? pikachu is my best character, but pichu is my ABSOLUTE worse character, next to donkey kong. i just CAN'T play pichu, even if he is similar to pika, i do horrible. dunno why

also, i just went to a tourney last saturday and got my butt kicked by forward again lol. vids should be up soon

I didn't mean he actually had to be touching the stage for it to work, but I watched the video and that's exactly what I was describing. You have to be the perfect distance away from the ledge for it to work, it's hardly useful for recovery.

Axe do people ever chain grab you? I love your style but you get away with not being chain grabbed even when people get the grab. Anything you do to try and wiggle out of it or is it something your opponents haven't grasped yet?

snaps! good question. you're referring to sheik players for the most part, right? well.... most of the videos i have are of sheik players who don't chain grab much. when i play a sheik who DOES chain grab, i usually DI so i'm kinda like... in the middle of them, but slightly behind them. most of them will try to grab in place and miss, then you're able to pull off a quick Nair as you fall. it's kinda hard to explain, it'd be a lot better if you could see it for yourself. there's not too much you can do when you're getting chaingrabbed

Sheik, Ganon, C.falcon, Mario, Doc, Luigi, and Marth with ftrhows are the ones I know. Sheik, Ganon, C.Falcon and Marth are some what tough for Pikachu already without chain grabbing. I'm just wondering how do you deal with this.

I got what you meant in your last post on how you escape it but who tends to chaingrab you in tourney? I want to see you escape it. The chain grab thing is really what keeps me from touching Pikachu. I like the characters game style but I only like playing Pika vs spacies.

Yeah, i know the spot axe. It's like, riiiiiight behind sheik's head. Most sheiks miss the regrab from there. I don't know what to do about most of the other cgs though, it's just like, DI away to an edge.

Main solution: don't get grabbed :)

Let's make it one.

Axe, how do you fight marths? His sword is big and absorbs electricity and hurts a lot.

lmao well i'm not exactly the best person at giving advice :p i guess i'll try my best though haha.

i guess i'll start in order from paperstsoap's request.

i already tried my best to explain for sheik, just DI so that way you're like only a LITTLE bit behind them, so it's barely noticeable. that's what i do, at least. and while i'm falling, i usually pull off a neutral.

for Ganon: i usually don't fight many ganon's, but whenever i get grabbed by one, i usually just DI all the way behind them. usually they can't react fast enough to grab you again. if you DI in front of them or don't DI at all, that usually results in another grab for them. i'd say that DIing behind them would be your best option, but that's just from my experiences.

C.Falcon is a hard one. i fight a lot of them. i've tried a lot of things, and most of them don't end up working. the best thing you can do is mix between your DI. maybe after the first throw, DI away from them. then when they grab you again, you can DI away again (maybe they wouldn't expect the same DI twice). then DI towards them. if they read you well enough, there's not too much you can doo, but Falcon can't chain grab you much anyways, he can usually only pull off like 3 throws due to stage limits, so you shouldn't have to worry too much about this one. sometimes when they D throw me and i DI away, when they run to grab me again, sometimes i can pull off a late Uair right before they grab, and it sends them behind me. that's another option to consider. sometimes when i'm thrown, i mash up on the C-stick to try to pull off a U air. it throws them off a lot cuz of it's weird trajectory

Mario/Doc: depending where they are on the stage... if they're near an edge, i almost always try to DI towards the edge. i hate these guys' D throws lol. if they got you like in the middle of the stage, i usually try the same method as my sheik description, try to DI slightly behind them, and try to pull off a neutral before they can grab you. if that doesn't work, you can try to mindgame them between your DI of left and right, or no DI at all. sometimes i feel like getting chain grabbed by these guys is even worse than sheik.

Luigi: honestly i've never been chaingrabbed by a luigi lol. i know his D throw sends you backwards. i'd imagine you can just DI backwards and get out of it easily, but i've never had to fight a luigi who chaingrabs lol. i'd like some advice on this myself. is it hard to get out of??

Marth: at 0%, it can suck really bad to get F thrown by a marth, cuz they can usually just F smash for a free tip. ugh i hate it lol. when i'm thrown by a marth, i almost always DI away from them. they usually won't go for a CG, though. for almost every marth i fight, they usually do F throw --> F throw --> forward smash at 0%. i usually just DI away the entire time and the F smash ends up missing. i don't think you have to worry too much about getting CG'd by marth. when your % gets higher, you're able to tech on the ground before they can grab or F smash you again. i usually tech in place, then D tilt, then run away lol. you gotta be careful against marth.

How do I fight Marths? Marth is the character i fear the most when i'm pika, even more than sheik. i've gotten quite a bit of practice against Forward's marth and it's hard! holy crap lol. usually when i camp with pikachu, it doesn't work very well =( this might sound weird, but i'm very agressive towards marths lol. actually i'm pretty aggressive towards almost all players just in general. i guess i just have an offensive style? well, one thing i do to fake them out is... when you're a pretty good distance away from them, you can run towards them and do a full hop neutral B. most marths i fight will try to slice the thundershok with either an F air or an F smash. the moment my thundershock comes out while i'm in mid air, i hold back on my control stick, so my thundershock goes out while i stay behind it. they'll usually slice the thundershock, then i throw out a neutral or run up and up smash them. it usually works, i guess they assume they'll hit you too since you're coming right at them in the air lol.

well for the most part, i usually approach with an up air. whenever i approach with a neutral, i almost always get grabbed. darn marth lol. but most marth's won't expect a late Uair. if you hit them with the tip of your tail, they'll fly slightly behind you, and you can follow up with either a neutral, an up smash, or another up air (at least, those are the 3 moves i usually use after hit a marth with a late uair). running and doing a Dtilt isn't a bad idea either. it's a fast move. it comes out really fast and barely has any lag. running up to them and blocking is a good idea too. you kinda just have to use a lot of mind games, to get them to approach you, so you can strike at the right moment. it's hard... darn those marth's lol. but pikachu can get some good combo's on marth, you just gotta know when to attack.

N64: how do YOU fight marths?!?!?!?

And i miss you too Vman :p lmao

Heh, okies dogy. Tomorrow your marth shall feel teh pika wrath!

@Axe: Good response. It's a lot of stuff I normally do (or like always ask myself why i don't do more often heh), but it's reassuring none the less to get another view on it. I'm also a fairly aggressive pika, at least I can't stand just camping a lot of the time (unless I'm playing like really intensely, usually against spacies, where I'll camp with uairs all day). I play a very shielding-heavy offensive style if that makes any sense.

Anyways, marth. I usually just try to dance around outside fsmash range and throw jolts. For approaching him I'll mix up dash->crouch->dtilt and dash->shield. If he doesn't do anything, or dash dances away, dtilt is safe enough that I don't often get punished. If he fsmashes my approach, shield->wd grab works wonders. If he fair/ftilts I can usually shield->quick aerial or something just to hit him and force him into the air. If I predict his reaction wrong though, he'll just grab me when i shield or fsmash me when i dtilt or something.

I also will occasionally play ledge games. If i camp the top platform of any of the 3-platform stages, marth will usually try to poke through the platform and i'll just lightshield stuff until he decides to 'get smart' and double jump up there (with a fair or nair for shield pressure) and try to grab me. Then I just drop through the platform and do a double jump uair/nair and try to combo him. If you're below marth, his options diminish greatly, as he essentually only has dair (very laggy) or fastfall fair, while you can knock him around with uairs and threaten an uair spike. Once he's off the stage, throw a jolt or two to either get him to try to recover above you (uair bait) or below, where you can quick-attack edgehog their sweetspot attempt.

I also fsmash a lot. Usually out of dashdance->wd-to-perfect-range. As long as you space it well, it's pretty safe. He's forced to either shield or get hit by it, and if he shields at that range it has enough shieldstun and knockback that he can't really retaliate before you get out of lag from it. Usmash->thunder also works super well, but good luck pulling that off.

The match as you know is mostly trying to stay at the right spacing while he's on the stage, and just poking till something hits, trying to force him into the air so you can get under him and take advantage of it. And once he's off the stage, make it as difficult as you can for him to get back.

the real question is how do i not get completely owned by falco. cant shield grab him cuz reflector, if u do shield u get hit anyways cuz pikas shield is terrible, lazers can shut u down, he can combo the crap out of u, etc. falco is too good. :/

played dogysamich a bunch the other day. Was super funsies. Didn't record any matches though (which is unfortunate cause there were a few 'hoooooly ****' moments). I don't really have any way of getting vids online anyhow, I'll see if dogy does, we'll probably be playing again next week.

Pika vs. doc is annoying. He messes up my DI so much. I want to sdi jabs away, but if that doesn't work i just end up DIing away when he dsmashes, and dying. Also grab leads to anything, and grab at > 80% is dthrow->fair->dead. And he's annoying to edgeguard. He isn't too bad to chase and pills aren't too terrible, so at least i get relative freedom of movement, but he's just aerial and closerange priority, which is where pika HAS to fight.
