Outdated game design doesn't exist. Games can age poorly, but not on a fundamental level.
The question "why are retro games so popular?" would sound utterly inane if applied to movies, TV, or especially books.

Crash on the Run has truly revolutionised the "go on a fan wiki, search for weird one-off characters, and write a checklist" game development technique.
I know the way I worded it makes it sound lazy/disappointing, but TBH it's my ideal approach and how I wish more long-running IPs' owners handled them. It makes a fun reward for hardcore fans, expands the world for casual fans, and brings a fun challenge of fleshing out a previously underdeveloped character for the devs,and the publishers get that MTX store money- everyone wins!
It's surprising (albeit a welcome surprise) that Disney haven't gone into NFTs - though it seems like only a matter of time at this point.

Smash 64 had the best Smash aesthetic IMO. When I think "video game characters beating the snot out of each other" I imagine a wild, exaggerated wrestling match being broadcast to millions, not a tearful song about the inevitability of death or Latin chants about legendary warriors.
I like Melee and Brawl's aesthetics detached from their source material, 3DS/Wii U had a good aesthetic that did a decent job tracing to Smash's roots but IMO didn't go far enough, and Ultimate's aesthetic just feels lifeless and corporate.

I don't get why creation threads tend not to hold votes for certain things, if you're gonna be democratic devote to it! This was especially a problem when Grovyle was added to Infinite - we never held votes on a PMD series symbol or making Wigglytuff an AT instead of a Poké Ball even though a lot of people in thread were in favour of that.
It's kinda funny that Nintendo are seen as the "cute platformer guys" when I'm pretty sure Sony have more 1st party platformer IPs than Nintendo does.
Everybody wants a new Banjo or Conker, but the Xbox platformer mascot I want to see come back is this guy:
Voodoo Vince is such a unique game, basically a mix of 3D collectathon platforming and point-and-click-esque logic puzzles with demented PG-13 humour sprinkled throughout. Way more than just a Dunkey joke.
I hope the Switch Pro is like the New 3DS - just something that makes certain games run faster, has three or four exclusives, maybe an extra button or two.

If a game gets leaked through merchandise or an age rating, it'll either be revealed (roughly) 3 years or (roughly) 4 weeks later. There is no inbetween.

You ever have those periods where you realise you're really passionate about some random, obscure character you already knew and previously didn't care about - so you just start thinking and posting about them all the time? Yeah, I'm feeling that way about the Steam Gardeners right now. They remind me of the really early Pixar shorts, like Luxo Jr; Red's Dream; all those weird ads; so on.
On one hand I'm tired of hearing about Invincible all the time and people assuming I get all the references, but on the other hand it's making the market for non-comedy adult animation bigger, so that's pretty good.
Same for FNF, just swap "non-comedy adult animation" for "Western cartoon styled video games"

I don't get the "Nintendo character in a Nintendo game" meme, nobody was complaining about Byleth, Min Min, or Pythra because they were Nintendo characters - it just so happens the 3 Nintendo characters were all REALLY disappointing.
