Crash on the Run has truly revolutionised the "go on a fan wiki, search for weird one-off characters, and write a checklist" game development technique.
I know the way I worded it makes it sound lazy/disappointing, but TBH it's my ideal approach and how I wish more long-running IPs' owners handled them. It makes a fun reward for hardcore fans, expands the world for casual fans, and brings a fun challenge of fleshing out a previously underdeveloped character for the devs, and the publishers get that MTX store money - everyone wins!
