PlayStation All Stars 2 guest character concepts are weird because so many of deas people have basically no connection to Sony anymore and were only really exclusives out of convenience (or just weren’t exclusives. Looking at you Tomb Raider, SotN, Rayman…) Also like 90% of guest character ideas come from the PS1 and it would just seem really boring to have so many of them from one era.

I kinda don’t like the variations on the “you’re listening to 102.3 Real Rock FM” meme because the set up is usually hilarious but then completely ruined by the punch line just being a repeat of the radioactive thinng from the original. Like if they could find other examples of a bland sounding song being lumped in with a different genre then it would be funnier but it’s just the same joke each time where the set up is changed but the punch line remains the same.

Its like almost two weeks into the new year so this might be a little late but I got in the mood to make a big sentimental post and I think 2023 was the best year I’ve had so far.
I met a ton of people at my school who I’ve become very good friends with and still semi regularly talk with today and it feels really nice as someone who has sort of had trouble finding/fitting into friend groups. I actually feel like I genuinely like and care about my school and those relationships feel a lot more permanent than they did before even when school was done. For the first time I felt comfortable to say I love you casually to friends. I even did a sappy little thing where I stayed up til 2 AM writing notes about every person in one of my graduating classes, and how I liked working with them. I graduated this year so there’s all the bittersweet feelings that comes with that but I am pretty glad to be out of there.
Of course there’s also all of you guys! I feel like I connected with people on this site way more and at times when I was feeling down or inactive it felt really nice to be able to go on my phone and essentially just start up a conversation. It gave me a lot of confidence in real life too and made my identity feel just a little bit more defined so thank you all so much for that.
I also did a couple plays through school or university which I really enjoyed and was part of the reason I got so close to some friends. I hope everyone can feel some joy in their life equal to the joy of being in a guys only musical number in a musical, it’s so rare literally everyone cheers as loud as they possibly can it’s great. This year I’ve also been out of my city for more than a week on two occasions, one was my first time leaving the country since 2017. So travelling like that felt really freeing especially since I’m at the age where I can do a lot of stuff independently. My parents also made really close friends with some people from the UK while travelling so hey maybe we’ll go there this summer too.
It wasn’t literally perfect because there was still plenty of moments I felt unsure of myself but there will always be those moments, overall 2023 felt like a lot of things in my life that were building up finally paid off, and now it’s time to build back up again. Thanks for reading and being part of this journey for me and I’m going to finish with my signature catchphrase:

The jump immediately from metal gear solid 1 to 2 makes me realize it’s kinda funny just how drastically Otacon changed. He went from a nerd that Snake bullies to a semi competent team member of a global organization to stop nuclear war
For some reason I thought LJN developed all their stuff so it’s funny to find out some of their games were actually developed by Rare and Atlus
The existence of the splinter cell novelization is so funny to me because you got a book where a famous author’s name takes up most of the space and it says it was created by them but was actually written by a completely different person
I like saying crisis diverted instead of crisis averted it makes it seem like someone else is gonna get the crisis
It’s been a while since I played half life 2 and I wanted to see what episode 1 and 2 were like but I decided to just replay half life 2 instead of jumping right into them. And can I just say I am so thankful I didn’t start half life 2 episode one in this condition because otherwise I might have thought the whole series was like that.

Now that I think on it, the reason Dream’s face reveal seemed so off wasn’t because he was “ugly” or something because he looks perfectly fine but the fact that he held his face at that one weird unnatural angle the whole time kinda makes it a bit uncomfortable

I think Guilty Gear Strive's designs are better than anything else in the series but I do understand people not liking them, there was definitely an edge to the earlier designs
Calling something “bait” only works when it’s unquestionably made just to grab attention. The way people use it most of the time now is just “I disagree with this opinion so I’m going to tell myself it’s not sincere so I don’t have to think about it.”
I made a video where I mention if DK was added to Smash today he would be thought of first and foremost as a Mario character and not a Donkey Kong Country character and that statement was weirdly controversial? Mind you I never said he should be considered from the Mario series and not the Donkey Kong Country series with the little series logos in Smash, I just said that most people would think “donkey kong? oh yeah the Mario character” and saying that somehow got people mad
Unfortunately we’re not very close to the point this could happen since there’s still a lot of Stone Ocean left untranslated but I think it would be cool if Steel Ball Run’s official English serialization started on its 20th anniversary

Yes, the Switch absolutely can run pretty powerful games just fine but that requires some more optimization which most companies are just too lazy to do or don’t think are necessary
Another thing that kind of annoys me about the Metal Gear games is the way difficulty affects it. Removing the radar on hard mode is just way to much of an ask and should be relegated to extreme mode when the radar is such an integral part of how you play, especially MGS1. Euro Extreme (where you get a game over whenever you’re spotted) is also really fun in MGS3 but it’s also basically broken in some spots
why the actual hell does the dlc for metal gear solid legacy collection that adds other languages take 7 GIGABITES and you have to download it to play certain versions of the game regardless of whether you’re going to pick them or not
I think Kunio-kun or Billy & Jimmy Lee in Smash would probably make a lot more sense from a "game history" perspective but the river city girls would just be so much more fun IMO.

The final boss of WarioWare Smooth Moves was really finnicky early wii motion controls to me but I don't think I mind because of how funny it is
Definitely well past the day where posts like these are in season but my favorite movie this year was probably Barbie and then my favorite game is either Like A Dragon Ishin or Pizza Tower depending on wether or not you count remakes that barely change anything about the original
The fact that I’ve never heard of a new live service game in a good while should be more reassuring if the games industry didn’t find ways to be terrible in other ways
Discourse on this stupid game has been so incredibly tiring to see (and all I have seen from it has been against my will) but I think that one post about The Coffin of Andy and Leyley where someone says “Why would you put incest in a horror game??” was so funny. It’s a game genre specifically about making you feel uncomfortable that portrays something that makes people uncomfortable.

I just found out Zombi was actually Ubisoft’s first game and now I think it’s kinda nice it got a reboot like that even if no one remembered it -
